Chapter 9 - First Incursion

A week had elapsed since Tyler's enrollment, and in that short span, an unexpected bond had blossomed between him and Ashley. Their newfound camaraderie, evident in their shared presence, irked Tyler, a stark contrast to his initial plan. He had envisioned a formidable group of six, a force to be reckoned with, with him at the helm. Ashley, with her potential and promise, was a crucial piece of this puzzle.

Tyler's proposal, a bold ambition to eradicate the void creatures, had resonated with Ashley. She had readily accepted his invitation, pledging to recruit more powerful individuals. This prospect filled Tyler with a sense of anticipation, a vision of a future where he stood at the pinnacle of power.

However, his reverie was abruptly shattered by a sudden announcement that reverberated through the academy.

The first-year students were to embark on their inaugural incursion, a perilous expedition into the void. The announcement stipulated that only groups of three or more could participate, a rule that threw a wrench into Tyler's carefully laid plans.

As the news spread, a surge of excitement and anxiety swept through the academy.

First-years, eager to prove their mettle, flocked to the strongest individuals, seeking a place in powerful groups. Tyler and Ashley, renowned for their exceptional abilities, were the prime targets of these aspiring recruits. Yet, as the crowd swelled around them, they were nowhere to be found.

A wave of confusion washed over the gathered students. Had the two prodigies, seemingly inseparable, vanished into thin air? Speculation ran rampant, theories abounded.

Some whispered of a secret training regimen, others of a clandestine mission. But the truth remained elusive, a mystery shrouded in enigma.

The mystery of their sudden disappearance was soon unveiled. The duo had retreated to the academy's secluded forest, a sanctuary shielded from prying eyes. Their destination? The cafeteria, a mundane errand that had taken an unexpected turn.

As they indulged in their snacks, a wave of commotion swept through the forest. A horde of first-years, driven by ambition and desperation, had stormed the sanctuary, seeking to form alliances with the academy's most promising talents. Tyler, with a mischievous glint in his eye, had anticipated this intrusion.

"I told you they'd come," he chuckled, his voice laced with triumph. "Lucky for us, we're already one step ahead."

Ashley, initially startled by the sudden influx of students, couldn't help but join in Tyler's laughter. His foresight, his ability to anticipate the moves of others, had always impressed her.

"You're quite the strategist, aren't you?" she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

Tyler grinned, a sense of satisfaction washing over him. "Let's just say, I've had a lot of practice."

As the chaos outside subsided, Tyler turned to Ashley, his expression turning serious. "Are you ready for what's to come?" he asked, his voice low and intense.

Ashley nodded, her determination unwavering. "I'm ready," she replied, her voice firm. "I trust you."

With those words, Tyler's heart swelled with gratitude and pride. He had found a partner, a true ally, someone who shared his vision and his unwavering belief in their potential. As he settled into his bed, exhaustion weighing heavily on his eyelids, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. The future, with Ashley by his side, held endless possibilities he would finally be able to end these void beasts or enslave them.

Meanwhile Ashley was blushing of the thought when she told him, I trust you

it sounded so clingy but emotional she felt drawn to him his dangerous beauty.her perfect speck but soon she realized her words and crashed her bed in embarrassment.

The day of the incursion, a momentous occasion for the first-year students, dawned upon the academy. The once serene field, usually a place of quiet contemplation, was transformed into a hive of activity. A palpable energy hummed in the air as students, eager and apprehensive, gathered in anticipation.

At the heart of the field, a mesmerizing sight unfolded. A swirling, ethereal rift, tinged with a soft pink hue, materialized. This otherworldly portal, a gateway to the void, promised both danger and opportunity. As the students edged closer, their eyes wide with curiosity and fear, the rift pulsed with an otherworldly energy, inviting and ominous.

Tyler, the enigmatic figure, had introduced a new recruit to their team, a young man named Caspian. His fair hair contrasted sharply with his piercing crimson eyes, and his somewhat plump physique belied his potential strength.

Yet, it was his air of arrogant superiority, a disdainful attitude towards his peers, that truly set him apart. Despite their reservations, the team had no choice but to accept him as their newest member. With a haughty air, he scrawled his name in the register, a silent declaration of his arrival.

As he stepped into the rift, Caspian's initial introduction to his teammates was marked by an ominous encounter. A colossal, raven-black bird, its gaze unsettling, materialized before them. Before a defensive formation could be established, Caspian, fueled by a competitive spirit, recklessly charged the creature, striking it into the dense forest. As he pursued the wounded bird, he disappeared from sight, leaving Tyler and Ashley to confront the creature alone.

The bird, seemingly unperturbed by the attack, returned to the entrance, its presence even more menacing. Tyler and Ashley, sensing a familiar dread, readied themselves for battle. The giant crow's piercing screech echoed through the woods, causing the ground to tremble. From the depths of the forest, a monstrous creature emerged, a colossal black boar far exceeding the size of any ordinary swine. Its menacing form, bathed in the dim light, filled them with both awe and terror. They proceeded with caution, as each of them wanted to know their strengths and weaknesses.

Although Tyler was actually spaced out in trying to figure out what was the bird's purpose, why did it call for help, and what was it's rank?.

These where all of his thoughts although a noble he is he never saw his self as such. He got called out of his thoughts when he heard a roar.

Roaaaaaaaaaar!.
