The figure moved with confidence, her head was held high, and her presence was both commanding and disturbing.
Ava could feel the tension coming from her even before she even said anything.
"So, you are the thing my brother decided to bring in. I'm Lily, and let's just get one thing straight—you are not welcome here." The woman said, her voice was filled with disrespect.
Ava blinked her eyes, she was shocked by the quick hatred. She rose carefully from the cot, her muscles were still very weak.
"I did not even ask to be here, your brother insisted," she replied. Her voice was steady despite the nerves all over her stomach.
"Asher might have a soft spot for some lost causes, but that does not actually mean the rest of us do. You don't belong here, and you are already a burden we can't even afford." Lily crossed her arms, her eyes were narrowing.
