Ava blinked her eye, her heart was racing as the figure stepped into the light of the fire.
She was frozen instantly, torn between disbelief and hope at the same time.
"Caleb?" she whispered again, her voice was trembling.
The man's movements were very slow and not even steady, his shoulders were bent as if he was carrying a load that he couldn't bear.
But as he moved closer, something about him felt really... wrong.
"Ava," he said, his voice was very low.
His expression was moving between pain and something even darker.
"Who are you?" Ava demanded, her voice shaking as she stepped back.
The man stopped, his head was moving slightly.
"You... must leave, they are... coming." He said his words were not clear and were in pieces.
Ava's heart was pounding as the man was shaking, his legs were already giving out under him.
