Chapter 79 - No Drama

After soaking in the bathtub for an hour, Emma finally felt hungry. Wrapping herself in a thick bathrobe, she stepped out of the bathroom. She really hoped that both Leon and that woman were gone by now. The last thing she wanted was to deal with them.

Earlier, when she asked Aunt Mei to call Leon, she thought it might lead to something dramatic, like a scene from one of the novels she used to read. But after getting some sleep, her headache didn't go away, and all she wanted now was to eat and rest instead of some melodrama.

Opening the door, Emma peeked into the hallway. It was quiet, and the dim lights made the house feel colder than it was. She walked carefully, her bare feet making soft sounds against the floor. When she reached the staircase, she paused for a moment, listening for any voices. Nothing. She let out a sigh of relief and continued down to the dining hall.
