The man stared down at the 3 of them, towering over them. He looked very masculine, he seemed as if he had worked out a lot, with muscles defining his whole body. "The fuck do you guys want? Can't you see I am busy?" The man asked towards the group with a harsh tone, clearly pissed off at them.
The Fixer that was with Avi and Veronica stood still, with a straightened posture he started speaking towards the man "We are here to collect your debt. You still owe G Corp some money and have to pay it back now. Else there will be consequences following."
The man looked at the Fixer dumbfounded. A smile crossed his face as he said "I am not paying shit. You better screw off now or else I will end up hurting you like the last guys that were here" A few figures appeared behind the man as if on cue. They were covered in large tattoos all around the body. Around 5 to 6 of them stood behind him, staring at the group.
The Fixes took a step back, not wanting to be immediately overrun by the men inside of the doorframe. "I am sorry but I cannot do that. I have clear orders to return with the debt that you owe. So I ask once again. Please hand us the owed money and we will be gone in an instant"
Avi and Veronica were still standing in the back, around 5 meters away from the door. Seeing all the men has made them uneasy. Still grabbing their weapons with their hands, ready to dash at them at any moment. But they do no act yet. They are waiting for the Fixer to hopefully dissolve the situation instead of heaving to resort to violence.
The man inside the doorframe lets out a small laugh, looking down on the group. "You really think I will listen to some twig like you? You know what, I want that gun you have." The man points at the Fixers gun. It's stored next to the Fixers waist, ready to be pulled at any moment. "It looks really nice. Is it custom made? Whatever it is, I want it. Give it to me and I might let you guys walk in peace. Sounds like a good deal to me."
The man was staring the Fixer straight in the eyes. He was dead serious about what he had said. The tension rose in the air, yet the Fixer did not hand out his weapon to the man. "I'm sorry but that won't happen. I am not giving up my weapon and I will not leave without the money. Even if you kill us it won't stop. You kill us, my boss will show up and I do not recommend you to go that route." The Fixer took a step back again, now at a decent distance to dash away from danger if needed.
The man spat on the ground and let out an annoyed sigh from his mouth before speaking up once more. "This is getting annoying, just screw off already." The man took a step back before slamming the door right in front of them.
Everything was silent for a few seconds. The group stared at each other, their guards lowering. Avi and Veronica let go of their weapons before taking a few step further towards the Fixer. "This did not go as expected if I am honest. But I think it's good that we didn't die or had to resort to violence. I did not know that they would have augments on their bodies, these guys are definitely not just a group we could beat, two grade 9s is not enough for that." He let out a sigh before taking a few steps back again, now right in front of Avi and Veronica
Music suddenly started playing again from inside. Just as loud as it was last time before the door had opened. "These fuckers are now also playing their music again right after leaving us hanging like this. Didn't expect any less from them." Veronica scoffed as she reached back inside her again and took out another cigarette and a lighter. Lighting it up and smoking while talking with the rest of the group.
"You know, at least we didn't have to fight them. A fight against 6 of these surely would have been the end for us if I am honest. But I wonder what would be better, slaving away till our debt is paid off or dying by them, honestly I might rather pick the latter." Avi let out a long sigh after saying this. He looked down on the ground as he waited for what to do next.
"I think we should leave now. I will contact my boss about this and he will go to dissolve the situation. Not really the result I had wanted and I am really not looking forward to the lecturing of my disappointment but I rather sit through that than to die now." He stood there for another few seconds, seemingly in thought about something
Before the group could leave however, the door opened once more. Expecting the worse, they all drew their weapons. Avi pulled his Halberd off his back, standing in a fighting position, ready to slash at someone. Veronica had her Rifle aimed at the middle of the door, her finger on the trigger. And lastly the Fixer holding his gun in his hand, aiming a bit higher, as if trying to hit the chest or head of one of the man.
As the door fully opened they saw the man from before again. The music now blasting loudly through the open door they could barely make out what he was saying. "You guys are so annoying you know that. Just take it and fucking leave, don't come back."
The man took out a small envelope and threw it towards the group on the ground. After it landed right in front of the Fixer, he once again slammed the door shut and locked it. The group was now standing in front of an envelope that the man had thrown toward them with the door shut and the music muffled again.
The Fixer stored his gun away before leaning down towards the ground and picking up the envelope. He stood back up and opened the envelope slowly. He looked inside for a few seconds before talking to Avi and Veronica again. "Yeah, this is the money that we need. It's all here. We got really lucky with this so we better leave before they come out again."
Before Avi or Veronica could even speak up, the Fixer was already walking away from the door at a rapid pace. Not wanting to fall behind they quickly followed him. "You guys will receive your money soon. Once I talked to my boss it should be in your balance."
They simple nodded and continued walking on. After a few minutes they were out of the Backstreets and back in at the filled streets. "It was nice working with you" Said Veronica to the Fixer stretching out her hand towards him.
The Fixer took her hand and shook it before responding. "Thanks for helping me, even though you are only grade 9s you helped a lot. I think if I had shown up all alone they might have killed me then and there. If you'd excuse me I have to go now. Have a save trip back."
The Fixer turned around again and walked off, disappearing into the masses. Avi turned towards Veronica who had just lit another cigarette to smoke. "What should we do now? Got any plans?"
"We could go visit Espresso Office, tell the boss that we finished the task." Avi nodded in agreement before walking off with Veronica towards Espresso Office. The day now slowly turned to night. Most people off the streets now and lots of stores closed.
Avi and Veronica arrive at Espresso Office, still opened. They walked inside to see a nice room with wooden walls and floors, multiple chairs and tables to sit at and a bar where a woman was working behind. The shelves were full of beverages to drink. From simple water all the way to some liquor. Behind the counter was also a coffee machine that was used quite frequently.
Avi approached the woman standing behind the counter before asking her something. "Hey, do you know where the boss is? So we can report about a finished mission?" Avi asked in a nice tone.
The woman turned her attention towards Avi. She was still cleaning some glasses while she answered him. "Sorry but you can't talk to her right now. She's busy. You can just write on a paper with your signature that what request you have completed. She will look at that once she has time" She put down the glass she was cleaning and pulled out a small form and a pen and handed it towards Avi.
Avi took it and sat down at a table with Veronica. A few minutes pass as they fill out the form. Once they were done they stood up again and handed it back to the woman behind the counter. "Done. We will be off then again." The woman nodded as Avi and Veronica left the building.
As they got outside Veronica checked her balance. They got a total of 1.200 Ahn sent towards them, 600 Ahn each. "Nearly dying for 1.200 Ahn... we will never get out of debt at this pace." She sighed as she put her phone away again.
"That's true. But at least we are making some progress, we will finish it some day." Avi tried to reassure her. Veronica lit up another cigarette and took a deep breath with it. "I guess so. Lets just continue working somewhere, I rather not talk about it." Avi and Veronica moved away from the office, back to the streets.
They both decided to split up to make more money quicker. Avi got himself a simple delivery task within G Corp while Veronica stayed silent about what she was going to choose. Both of them are now split up trying to earn as much money as they can before meeting up once more.
