In her anger earlier, Ryhana hadn't even noticed the presence of a handsome young man in our house.
She eyed Daniel suspiciously and asked, "Who is this young man? He's very good-looking. Does he already have a partner?"
I immediately felt something was off. My mind flashed back to the two men I'd seen at the restaurant earlier. A sinking feeling hit me.
Could it be that the man wearing the black clothes, about 175 cm tall, was actually the one Ryhana had intended for me?
Based on what she had described, he didn't seem like a good match, so I had assumed that Daniel, who fit all the conditions perfectly, was the one.
If that wasn't the case, surely Ryhana would have recognized Daniel, right?
I felt a bit panicked. What should I do now? I had already registered my marriage with Daniel, and I was more than satisfied with him.
Daniel also seemed puzzled, listening to the conversation and quickly realizing something was off.
"Rose, the man I introduced wasn't this gentleman," Ryhana clarified, her tone uncertain.
Even Luna Elzzie and Beta Jackson looked confused.
Ryhana scrutinized Daniel, clearly trying to recall if she knew him. Finally, she said, "I told you earlier that the man I introduced would be wearing black. Did you forget? Just look at him—he's not wearing black at all."
She was right. Daniel was dressed in ash gray, not black.
Everyone turned to look at me, including Daniel, who was sneaking a glance in my direction.
I felt a bit awkward and hurriedly tried to explain. "Mum, Aunt Ryhana, didn't you both tell me that the man's family background was good? You said he was over 180 cm tall, very handsome, and came from a well-off family, didn't you?"
"Yes, I remember Ryhana saying that," Luna Elzzie confirmed, nodding thoughtfully.
But Ryhana seemed caught off guard, wanting to speak but unable to get a word in before Luna Elzzie cut her off.
I knew that as a matchmaker, Ryhana had a habit of praising both sides a bit too much.
The man she introduced had claimed to be 175 cm tall, and rounding up, that's almost 180, right? He had a pleasant, if not striking, face—she wasn't lying when she described him as good-looking. And his family ran a successful noodle shop, which Ryhana had tried several times herself. She thought it indicated good financial stability.
He had also said he was educated. Although he only completed one year of high school before joining the family business, technically, he had gone to school.
But when comparing appearances and height, he clearly couldn't compete with Daniel.
I added, "The man in black was about 175 cm tall. He wasn't exactly unattractive, but he wasn't particularly handsome either, and he had a bit of a belly."
"Besides, look at Daniel sitting over there. Doesn't he fit the description you gave me better?"
Seeing my parents nod in agreement, I continued, "Aside from the color of his clothes, Daniel matches every detail you described. So I thought he must have changed outfits before arriving without telling us."
"So I went up and asked if he was here for a blind date. He said he was, so I thought I had found the right person…"
After I finished explaining, everyone seemed to understand. What a stroke of bad luck! It was simply a mix-up, but as it turned out, Daniel was also there for a blind date.
Ryhana let out a relieved sigh. With everything cleared up, the next step would just be for both families to sit down for a meal together in a couple of days.
But then she turned to Daniel, still looking a bit puzzled. "Wait a minute. If this was a blind date, why is this young man already here at your house?"
Typically, this would have been their first meeting. How did it escalate to him coming over for dinner so quickly?
I stepped in and said, "Aunt Ryhana, we actually registered our marriage this afternoon."
"You registered your marriage already? Today? But you just met each other today!" Ryhana's eyes widened in shock, unable to believe it.
She had been a matchmaker for years, pairing up young and old alike. Normally, even if the couple hit it off, they'd at least meet each other's families and choose an auspicious date for the wedding.
But here we were, having met only half a day ago and already married. Even the fastest runners couldn't keep up with a marriage this quick.
Ryhana looked taken aback, but then she glanced at Daniel, and I could see her starting to understand.
She had tried matching me with several men before, so she knew my type quite well. Daniel was definitely a perfect fit. Although she had done her best to find me good matches before, I hadn't been interested in any of them.
It's not every day you find someone this great, so why not get married quickly?
"Ryhana, it's mostly about whether the children are happy together," Luna Elzzie chimed in. "Look at them—they're clearly pleased. And at this age, it's fine to marry a bit sooner."
She stood up, pulling out a small envelope of money from her purse. "Ryhana, no matter what, I have to thank you for all your help. If it weren't for you, my daughter wouldn't have found such a good match."
"Also, it's our fault for the misunderstanding earlier. My daughter can be a bit hasty sometimes. Please don't take it to heart, and I'll leave it to you to explain the situation to the other family."
Luna Elzzie's words were sincere, and after taking the money, Ryhana's expression softened.
She took my mother's hand and sighed, "The boy thought he had been stood up and was furious. He didn't go home until later, and his parents came to me asking what happened. That's why I rushed over, but I was too late."
Luna Elzzie laughed kindly. "Well, sometimes it's just not meant to be. We just finished cooking dinner. Why don't you stay and join us?"
"Oh, no, no. I've got dinner at home, too. You all enjoy your meal—I'll head out now," Ryhana said, waving her hand and making her way out.
And just like that, we were back to our cozy dinner, everyone finally at ease.
