Evelyn left therapy and headed back to her house, her mind buzzing with everything she had over shared and wished she hadn't. She winced a bit and her heart sunk, did I really need to bring up my childhood? The old lady is probably going to not take me seriously now. She let out a sigh.
(Don't think she hadn't noticed the old lady's methods to end the session a bit early.)
As she stepped in the door, the front room was as messy as it usually was. But she had managed to get the kitchen clean the night before since therapy would interrupt her routine. She picked up the remnants of their pancake breakfast as the boys jumped on the couch. She began washing the blender which she had used to blend up oats for the batter.
Her daughter Anwan who was seven had the morning off and began school at noon and got off at 5pm. Thus all of the kids had actually come with her to therapy, but they had stayed in a kid waiting room where there were toys and caregivers.
(Remember this point in the story is Midgard before earth as we know it, so things were sometimes so much better then. I bet your therapist doesn't have childcare. Pft. I'm chuckling as I write this, but it's true. Evelyn lived in a different time period than us and so things were better, yet things were also kind of the same. The big difference, that gods walked among us. Now back to getting to know Anwan.)
Anwan belonged to the regional first grader's afternoon program that included an extra hour of daycare for parents if they needed, so in that case she got out at 6pm in time for homework and dinner.
Meanwhile, the three-year-old twins, Rory and Timothy, were still too young for daycare or school, but plenty old enough to keep Evelyn on her toes.
"I want Lemmy! I want Lemmy!" The boys chanted in unison as they came into the house.
"One second!" Evelyn yelled over the noise as she commenced washing the blender.
"I WANT LEMMY!!!!" Rory said angrily as he was asked to wait. He jumped off the couch and stomped over to the kitchen to insist to his mother.
Evelyn paused what she was doing and turned on the television to their favorite show about a lemur.
Lemmy!
Lemmy!
Lemmy!
Lemmy!
The show began. And the lemur was flipping around through the imaginary chalk world that he drew. The puppeted stuffed animal hopped around in a way that seemed like he had springs for feet and his tail arched stiffly like taxidermy resembling a real lemur as best as a puppet could.
The boys ate it up.
Evelyn settled down with them and turned on her phone. "Buy myself something huh?" She said pulling up the popular website for swapping items.
"Sort of strange advice from a therapist." She muttered but shrugged her shoulders as she scrolled. "Well it was the second time I met her, maybe she can tell I'm on a tight budget and I hardly ever buy myself stuff."
What should I buy?
One thing Evelyn liked was mythical creatures. She searched for dragon board games and card games and one popped up that she didn't expect.
It was a black obsidian egg.
Huh. It posted two minutes ago. What a strange coincidence.
The egg was sharp like it wasn't meant to be touched, like a sea urchin. In fact she thought it looked like a sea urchin now that it was in her mind. Like some sort of glass sea urchin. The offspring of some sort of creature that perhaps swam in lava rather than water. She chuckled to herself.
"It says it's a matryoshka egg." She said out loud. "That's a Russian nesting doll I think." She clarified to Anwan.
Anwan came to look, "like the ones where an egg is inside of an egg and inside of another egg?"
Evelyn nodded. "Possibly differently painted dolls are inside of each other until we get to the center which is a very small doll."
"Ooo are you gonna buy it?" Anwan asked.
Evelyn thought about it. "Well it's kind of pricy. Someone has listed it for a thousand. That is not in my budget."
Anwan dropped her shoulders, now very curious to see the cleverly painted designs on each layer inside of the egg.
The show paused as the episode ended and Rory got upset. "Mamma more Lemmy!" He cried out, reaching for the phone which Evelyn used as a remote control. He nearly clicked "buy"
"NO! RORY!!!!!" Evelyn exclaimed, startled. But it was too late. Her finger touched the button as she took the phone back. An announcement came over the screen,
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR PURCHASE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED. YOUR FINGERPRINT HAS BEEN VERIFIED. PLEASE STAND BY FOR THE INITIATION OF YOUR GODSYSTEM!
"Godsystem?" Evelyn asked confused. "No! Why did I have to set up my fingerprint for purchases on that dumb website! I just wanted the free blender! Not this!
(Evelyn had gotten a free blender for setting up the shortcut and never intended to purchase anything by any means, but now there was no going back. Bahahahaha!!!!!! Evil bunny laugh!)
Bing!
The sound came from Evelyn's head. She rubbed her ears what?
DOWNLOADING.....
the words appeared in front of her face in the air.
"Do you see that Anwan?" She asked astonished.
Anwan shrugged, "what mom?"
"Those words." Evelyn said, pointing to the floating circle in front of her that was constantly spinning. Then suddenly it read:
DOWNLOAD COMPLETE. NOW RECIEVING YOUR ORDER!
With a flash of rainbow light, the dragon egg appeared, and an intricate design was burned into the floorboards. "Aaaahhhh!!!" Evelyn screamed, batting at the floor to put out any embers. Then in the middle of the floor in some impossible way was the spiky egg.
"Ohhh!" Anwan said. "The matryoshka egg." She said with awe. "It's so beautiful."
Evelyn looked at the egg and felt it verberate with power. This was no nesting doll.

On the other end of the transaction the beta werewolf's son smiled at the expense of Sirius and saoirse, the real owners of the egg.
Definitely revenge. He decided. This was definitely going to make it impossible for them to find their egg.
