Chapter 69 - 69-Hunting a fomoire part 2

Sirius looked up at the giants with shock. At first he didn't know if he should be afraid of them, or if he should easily defeat them now that he had defeated Odin so easily.

However, the most difficult feeling was the overwhelming power that becoming his beast had given him.

Yes! We are powerful Sirius! Taz roared triumphantly. Let me eat them all! I bet I can!

Taz was very excited about the opportunity to fight some more. His voice slithered through Sirius' mind, sending him feelings of wicked glee. Besides…..it's not like father will know….he will probably hear about what you did to Odin though….that will be a fun conversation!

Taz chuckled at himself for his sinister joke.

Sirius simply heard his words and scowled. He sized up all of the giants who had surrounded him, with their horrible jagged, rotting teeth and intentions and determined that their lives were probably insignificant.

He let out a sigh. "Fine, go ahead." He said to Taz.

The fomoire who had declared him to be a snack heard this and smiled wider. He laughed so hard that the other fomoire men followed his lead and laughed as well. The air between them filled with an annoying cringy goat laugh that grated on Sirius and Taz' ears.

"Bleheheheheh… ..Bleheheheheh….."

"Bleheheheh…eheheheheh…"

"Eheh…."

Then the lead fomoire leaned forward, his foul breath hot against Sirius' face. "Go ahead?! Ha ha have you no concern about dying here? Those who die in Nefilheim do not exist anymore. They aren't ever reborn."

He laughed some more which made Sirius cringe. "Bleheheheheh…..Bleheheheheh….."

Taz growled low in Sirius's mind. I've had enough of this.

"BALOR!"

A piercing scream tore through the air, silencing the laughter. Sirius turned sharply, his gaze falling on a Fomoire woman clutching a child close to her chest. Her voice shook with fear and fury.

But it was too late.

The vampire boy's wings shot him up to eye level with the fomoire. He didn't care who Balor was, ruler of the fomoire clan of Nefilheim. He didn't care that the man was laughing because he was undefeated. All Taz cared about was the ease with which he slashed the air and Balor's head rolled to the ground.

Balor was unconcerned that his wife and child would suffer the consequences of his mischief until the prey that he was laughing at, showed no signs of fear. In the end, he hadn't seen it coming.

The body, still suspended in the air began to dissolve into thousands of particles of matter and as it crashed to the ground, everyone was sprayed with the dust he had become.

The enormous, towering monster 's horns and clothing was all that was left.

The queen cried out in agony and shoved past the men, then her body like mists flew through Sirius' body from behind and she knelt on the ground at his feet, facing away from him as if she wasn't concerned for her safety. She picked up the horns of her husband and fury and grief filled her eyes.

Then she stood, turning towards him and backed away again. Keeping herself between Sirius and her fomoire child. The fomoire men had stopped laughing and all attention was now on her.

Her voice cracked like a whip. "Sieze him! He's been disarmed!"

The Fomoire men erupted into a frenzy, their bleats and shrieks of rage filling the air. Their muscles bulged grotesquely, veins pulsing beneath their mottled skin. Their horns elongated into jagged, deadly weapons, curving forward like scythes. Axes and clubs were raised high, their edges glinting with a cruel, unnatural light.

With a deafening roar, they charged from all sides, the ground trembling beneath their stampede.

Sirius found himself once again in control of his body and he couldn't get in contact with Taz. "Taz where did you go?!!" He panicked. "Woman what did you do to me?!"

The queen glared at him from behind her men with hurt and revenge in her eyes. Her child would now be fatherless.

A club crashed into the ground at Sirius' feet, followed by several others and large rocks. Hitting him hard and sending him flying with rock and debris. A dagger pierced his back from behind and another from the front. Suddenly he was impaled by the horns of a fomoire.

Sirius helplessly watched his blood seep from his wounds, trying again and again to shift. His mind screamed for Taz, but his body didn't respond—not even his wings would sprout. He clawed at the air like a drowning man, his voice raw. "Taz?! Taz!!" he cried, like a lost child calling for a parent. But no answer came. The familiar presence of his beast was gone, extinguished like a dying ember.

"Taaaaaaz!" he wailed, his voice cracking with grief. He no longer cared about the battle, the Fomoires, or anything else. He only wanted him back. He turned his tear-streaked face to the queen, desperation etched into every line of his features.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to kill him—I didn't understand what I was doing!" he choked out, struggling against the horns that held him suspended. "Please! Have mercy!"

The queen stood still, cradling her goat-child in her arms as she watched Sirius fall. When he slipped free of the horns, his body crumpled into the puddle of blood at his feet. He knelt before her, his trembling hands clutching at the ground as if it could anchor him.

"I've lost my beast. He's gone, and I don't even know who I am without him!" Sirius cried, his voice breaking into a choked sob. He looked up at her, his bloodied face filled with raw desperation. "Please… I'm begging you for mercy. I didn't want this. I didn't want any of this."

The queen's gaze burned with fury, grief twisting her features as she clutched Balor's horns. She stroked the head of her child, now fatherless, her voice like ice. "You've taken my beast from me. Why would I give yours back? Balor was the love of my life! You selfish creature, you're lucky I haven't rid you of your family trespassing in my cave!"

Sirius's body shook. He reached for her, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know I've taken everything from you, but I swear, I'll do whatever it takes to make it right! Please! I can't defeat my father without him!"

The Fomoire queen's expression didn't soften. Instead, her lips twisted into a bitter smile. "Maybe you should learn to get along with your kin instead of destroying them. Then you wouldn't end up in this mess."

Anguish washed over him anew. "But I can't do that!" he whimpered, his voice breaking.

"Milady, shall I crush him now?" the Fomoire who had impaled Sirius asked, placing a massive foot on his back. His eyes gleamed with the hunger for vengeance.

The queen raised a hand, halting him mid-step. "And why not?"

Sirius wept before her, his burden on his shoulders by who his kin was. "Because he is King Alastor."
