Chapter 61 - 61- Taz’s power

The wolves lunged at Sirius with their teeth bore ferociously, hatred in their eyes.

The beta, whose name Sirius still hadn't been able to learn, lay lifeless at his feet—a casualty Sirius hadn't wanted, but at this point, his mind could not be reached.

And his beast didn't care.

The beast, now fully in control, moved with a cruel precision, reveling in the chaos, doing what he wanted, all except revealing himself; he knew better than to allow Odin to see his true form.

(I'll give you a hint. Please don't assume he is a dragon, because he is a one of a kind creature and you're still going to have to wait to find out.)

Sirius' beast's name was Taz. He had a history with Odin that meant that Odin would have killed Sirius on the spot, had he recognized what he truely was, and that would be a problem for Taz. Thus, he limited himself to relishing in the fact that he had finally overtaken his body.

"Troublesome thing, it is, to be bound to a human form," Taz mused aloud, his voice carrying an eerie calm that unsettled even the wolves. He smiled, his sharp, white teeth glinting in the moonlight.

Then his form rippled, his body contorting as he shifted. His human frame expanded, his skin turning pale and rough as he morphed into a hulking white alligator. With a deafening roar, he lunged forward, snapping his massive jaws. His aura that he emitted filled the wolves with dread. It had the power to make their life flash before their eyes and they saw their own deaths.

The wolves scattered, yelping as his teeth grazed their faces. A blow that would have killed them if they hadn't moved, narrowly avoiding their deaths. They ran away and wimpered, willing Nanna to tell them what to do.

She shouted at them angrily. They had never ran away from a fight. "I said kill him! Are you deaf?" She kicked the white one, which angered her mate, but he didn't rebel against her. She had the power to kill then too, it was better to stay on her good side. This they circled back to have another go at Taz, their loyalty to Nanna overriding their fear.

One dove for his leg, the other aiming for his throat. Taz whipped his powerful tail, sending the first wolf crashing into the nearby table with a sickening thud and the table tipped over, sending the food to the floor and spilling mead.

The second wolf clamped onto his arm, its teeth sinking deep.

Nanna smiled as her white wolf had gained an upper hand. Her bite was venomous and very concentrated. This battle would be over with in a matter of a few minutes. She waited for the look on Sirius' face as his body filled with pain.

But instead Taz laughed. The sound was low and guttural, like the rumble of distant thunder. He swung his arm violently, sending the wolf flying. It hit the ground hard, whimpering as it struggled to stand.

"You think I care when I feel pain woman?" Taz laughed, wiping the smile off of Nanna's face in an instant

Taz shifted back into his human form, his aura radiating such raw power that it froze the wolves in place. With his claws like that of a wendigo, his fingers long and bony and black, swirling with his deadly aura, he sliced the heads off of both wolves in one swipe.

"Pathetic," Taz said, his voice dripping with disdain. "Is this the best you can offer, Odin? Mangy mutts with no bite? Well at least they will finally find peace."

"They have peace!" Nanna yelled, "they served me as they should! That is the purpose of you creatures that Loki has created!"

Taz's smile broadened. His sinister toothy smile that reminded Sirius of his father's.

Taz didn't care. "I see you trembling woman." He said as he strode towards her. She stood frozen as well by his aura. Her body trembled despite her defiant expression. He tilted her chin up with his black clawed fingers, forcing her to look into his burning eyes.

"Tsk, tsk, Nanna," he said, shaking his head mockingly. "I would have thought you'd learned not to betray me again. Giving me werewolf blood, spiked with an anesthetic. You helped me finally break free. I should make you my slave, or do you forget you are a creation of Loki as well."

Her rage bubbled over. With a sharp twist, she yanked her chin out of his grasp and spat on his shoe.

"I am a goddess now. I killed my beastly side, I am now pure and you cannot harm me, I'll just be reborn."

She knew he had a lot of power. Fighting was actually not her strength. She was thin and preferred to have her men protect her. Why had that meek boy suddenly become a walking nightmare? She needed to buy herself some time. That venom should be working in him right now. Why was it taking so long?

"Who are you?" She asked.

Taz chuckled, low and menacing. "Oh, Nanna," he said, his voice a taunting purr. "I'm the monster that keeps real gods awake at night." His aura reached out to the two fallen beasts in the room, willing them to defy her and come to his side. They came out of their dead states. Neither one wielding a head and he reached out to the air above them and yanked at something invisible.

(In this moment I knew what my father was doing. He had taken ahold of the strings of fate that he had cut. They were no longer attatched to the piece that the Norns had woven. Like puppets, he lifted their frame by their string.)

It appeared to everyone in the room, even Odin that he had merely swiped his hand past them and his silent command made the dead obey.
