Chapter 25 - chapter 22 He’s a cheat! part 2

(No one listened. Honestly, at this point, trying to reason with this pack was like trying to control a group of caffeinated toddlers with sharp teeth- absolutely pointless.)

Sirius barely managed to claw his way out of the chaotic horde. Not that he intended to forfeit, but he had ended up at the bottom of the dog pile and wasn't very comfortable dying by being squashed by a bunch of sweaty wolf bodies. He nearly got the wind knocked out of him as someone's foot made contact with his upper back. (His back popped. It felt nice.)

"Aooooooo!!!!!!" Sirius howled as he finally took on the form of a wolf attempting to assert his dominance over the pack- or at least prove that he belonged, but taking on other shapes had proven to be his downfall because although his rare shape shifting ability gained him respect in the vampire world. Here, it just made him even more of an outsider and after they had seen him take on the forms of other animals, they now disregarded him as lesser.

His beast excitedly asked to be let out to show them that he was, in fact, not a lesser creature, but like always, he refused. As he had done many times in order to resist his beast taking over, he took on the form of a gentler animal, this time a black and white wolf, which showed a representation of his power.

Then he bit into someone's leg, causing a yelp of pain and got their attention. Then he took off running through the glass patio doors, taking the fight outside.

"Aoooooo!!!!!" He howled again as he ran down the Main Street of the place that Linus called The Estate. The werewolves heard him and quickly abandoned their skirmish, their focus returning to him.

He sprinted to the end of the compound where a 10 foot tall electric fence loomed large. This fence surrounded the whole compound, stretching as far as he could see in either direction. It was evident that Linus exercised every precaution to prevent intruders from entering the packlands because of what Alastor had done when he was a child.

Sirius leapt up and shifted again, this time his form shrank and morphed into his favorite black and white creature, the magpie. With his wings catching the air he bolted upwards, flapping his bicolor wings with determination until he had brought himself out of reach of the crowd.

From a birds'- eye view, he could see that the mansion had very large gardens and was nearly as large as the castle he had grown up in.

Neatly kept houses formed uniform neighborhoods, each with freshly cut lawns, large pools, and retractable canopies, that nearly covered the entire yard. This allowed for their yard to receive sunlight, but also when they wanted to come outside, they could have shade since many of Linus' descendants had inherited his allergy to sunlight.

A vast forest surrounded the perimeter of the estate, keeping the fence out of view, probably for aesthetic purposes.

A beautiful boardwalk ran alongside the water where members of the pack who hadn't gone to the banquet were walking. He wasn't surprised to find that not everyone had gone. Mostly, it had been those of more prominent roles who attended. Here, a permanent canopy, made of glass, had been installed. It would block the sunlight during the day using the same technology as the windows in the cars and houses: Linus' anti-sun tint. He imagined it was so people could enjoy the day without being harmed. Restaurants and parks lined the boardwalk, making it a great place to spend time as a family.

When Linda said that she was giving them the address to her father's house, he hadn't expected it to be a whole town. The place was complete, with schools and parks- even a splash pad. Linus had really been busy in his life. Sirius gained a new admiration for his new brother in law.

'This place is very nice.' He thought. 'I never would have expected that.' Truthfully, he felt like perhaps it was better for Linus to continue as he had been doing. Why did he need to take his position of leadership? Linus was doing just fine.

He looked down to see if the werewolves were still following and they were attempting to find him but no one had thought to take note of his scent. He made an attempt to think of a solution since they didn't know where he had gone. While in the middle of figuring it out though, a sudden yell broke the silence.

"I FOUND HIM!!!!!" A wolf yelled. Snapping Sirius back to attention. "Aooooooo!!!!!" The cry of a wolf who had found his prey.

Somehow this wolf had noted his scent. It was the man who had established his immense dislike of Sirius, the man from the banquet.

Thousands of heads turned to look their way. Their blue and golden eyes snapping towards the sound.

This man wasn't trying to have a duel anymore. This event had now turned into a hunt.

Wolves once again rushed forward, quickly surrounding Sirius. He was forced to fly higher as below him they snapped their jaws ferociously at the air, spit flying. Then, snarling and climbing on each other, scrambling to be the first one to catch the bird in their jaws, but no one could reach him.

"He's a cheat!" A couple of them voiced their opinions.

Then a wolf managed to jump off of the back of another and leapt into the air, snapping dangerously close to Sirius' leg, as his jaws grazed past, he managed to catch his tail feathers in his mouth.

Sirius cried out in pain as he felt a single feather tear free, clasped in the teeth of the wolf who had reached him. He hadn't meant to do it, but his arrogant look was unapologetic and Sirius believed that as he landed on his paws, he gave Sirius a slight smirk.

This man with golden eyes really wanted to be the Alpha. What was his problem!?

At the same time, Saoirse, who had been watching the fight felt the pain and decided she had enough of the chaotic, childish behavior of the men. Her and the women had come to an agreement with Linus in a more civil way during all of the time the men were running around. She stepped forward out of the nothingness and with a burst of frosty air, her figure suddenly appeared.

"ENOUGH!"

Her form was that of an untamed, ghostly white wolf. Anger flashed in her fierce blue eyes. For a brief moment, thanks to Linus, she had finally learned how to be seen by the living when she wished to.

Those that hadn't paid attention to her before, because she was a ghost afterall: some hadn't actually seen her- they all saw her now.

"ENOUGH!" She shouted again in case anyone hadn't heard her. Ice shot from her in all directions, freezing everyone's paws in place where they stood.

A frosty breeze chilled them to their core and everyone stopped what they were doing to hear what she had to say. They looked at her ethereal brilliance in awe. A few of the men exclaimed, "So beautiful!" None could look away.
