Chereads / Food Wars: The King of kitchen / Chapter 5 - Cross over

Chapter 5 - Cross over

After making food for ourselves, we went to hospital to visit mom.

Mom was now awake but still in ICU ward. She was refrained from talking to us as oxygen mask on.

We spent time with her, and at 8 P. M. we returned to our home.

Many neighbors came to know mom's condition, and thank god for her successful surgery.

When we went to sleep, I checked my system again.

[ Cross over in 1hr 26 mins]

If I think what this cross over means, then I have to make some preprations.

Dad and Gramps are already asleep as I silently went to the kitchen and took 2 bottles of water, some dry fruits, and 2 packs of instant noodles, dad's camping pot and little stove inside my hiking backpack.

Then I silently open gramp's sword cabinet and took a short katana as a self-diffence precaution.

As outfit I took out my hiking dress which dad have bought back from some foreign country.

As time passed by, I was waiting patiently to the timer to turn zero.

[Cross over: possible]

"System, Cross over."

[Host if you want to process with cross over select (Yes) or to terminate the order select (No). ]

As I selected (Yes) a blueish circular portal materialized inside my room. I took my backpack and my katana, then approach the portal.

When I touched the portal it sucked me in and everything whet black.

I came to my senses, laying on my back and gazing up at the sky. The clouds were floating in the blue sky above and I could hear birds chirping in the distance.

Is it really another world? I doubted my thinking back then because there was nothing abnormal about it from the world I know.

I stood on my feet, noticing my body didn't have any changes. As I surveyed my surroundings, I took note of mountains and grassy plains all around me.

I could also see a large tree in the distance. Plus, I thought I could make out a road next to it as well.

"Guess I'll just walk the road and see if I run into anyone." My immediate checkpoint in sight, I set off toward the big tree. Upon reaching it, I got a better look at things. I was right! There was a road nearby.

On the roadside, there is also a milestone and there is something written on it. As I focus on the writings suddenly... I could read them.

Oh! Probably the skill [Language Ex] on work, Sweet.

But this also kill my doubt in my heart. There was no mistaking it, I was in another world.

"System, what is the time ratio of these worlds?"

[Host, 1 day here means 1 hour in your world and 1 day in your world means 1 hour here vice versa.]

"Sweet. There is no problem about me disappearing out of the blue, in my world. Now... left or right, that is the question." I pondered my options beneath the shade of the giant tree.

The nearest landmark to my right Reflet town, looked to be an hour's walk away. Off to the left the Dutchy of Ortdilene, It was probably eight hours by foot judging from the distance written on the milestone.

Well I have no intention of walking 8 hours so, the Town Of Reflet then.

After walking a fair bit, the reality of my situation finally began to sink in. To begin with, I had some food also I had some water. There was also my katana but once I got into town, what then? I had no money of this world.

Then I checked my status and another skill added to my list

[Magic Affinity Ex]

Well ok. Top class magic affinity but I don't know anything about it. What to do...

As I was lost in thought, a sound steadily approached from behind. I turned around to check, and saw something off in the distance.

It was heading this way, and it appeared to be... a horse-drawn carriage. I'd never seen a carriage before in my life, but it was generally something you'd find someone riding in.

This would be first contact with life in another world. Think, what should I do? Try and stop it? I could have asked for a ride into town, but I decided against the idea. Why? A simple enough reason. I have no money to offer.

As the carriage grew closer, I could tell at a glance that it was a very high-class vehicle. Its physical appearance showed that it was made of good materials and built with highest craftsmanship.

Even I could tell at a glance that it was the sort of vehicle ridden by a noble, or at least some rich person of high status.

If I were to stop a carriage like that only to be met with a line like "Insolent pesant! How dare you stop my carriage? Guards! Behead him!" then it would be no laughing matter.

I decided it would be best to give way instead, so I simply moved to the edge of the road.

The carriage passed me by, kicking up a cloud of dust in its way. Good. I was glad I'd managed to avoid any trouble.

However, as I turned to resume walking down the road, I noticed that it had come to a stop a short way ahead.

Oh GOD! What now....
