Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

She would evade the truth but not lie, "Nothing, these are my intrusive thoughts."

"About?"

"I can't say."

"Can't or won't?'

"Both My King."

"Quite bold of you."

Sylvia stiffened a bit at the way he said it. This man was insufferable. How long would she have to walk on eggshells?

He tilted his head in amusement. "Why are you looking at me like My Queen?"

Her eyes widened, at times she could not control her facial expressions, better play it safe,

"How was I looking at you, My King?"

"As if you want to throttle me."

"I did not mean to look at you in such a manner, My King."

"So you don't deny that you want to throttle me."

Sylvia jumped to the first words that entered her mind and she needed to make him understand. "I am….I mean….No….what...…"

"Amusing that is contempt and it's a punishable crime."

"Punish me? I did nothing wrong."

"Wanting to harm is a crime, Sylvia."

When he said her name, it did frighten her.

"It's different."

"Different how?"

"You're my husband, and spouses often get on one another's nerves, so it is only natural for one to do so. I mean, if one didn't, would it make one human if you...…."

She stopped babbling as she saw how he looked at her.

"Are you done with your silly reasoning?"

She felt slightly offended but held back what she truly wanted to say to him.

"I suppose you are saying a string of profanities in your head about me."

Sylvia kept quiet. She wanted to spit them out in his face but could not, and if that's what he thought, it was good, as he knew how she felt.

"I suppose your silence answers my question."

"No, I would never think such."

"This lying of yours needs to stop. Is that how you were raised?"

Sylvia felt her rage rise swiftly, "Are you trying to insinuate something about my family."

"If the shoe fits, I suppose you know the rest."

He did not care that she was enraged,

"At least my parents raised someone with a moral compass and not intimidated by their wife."

"What did you say?"

She did not care that she was now threading on ice.

"I thought we were describing as to how our parents raised us."

"Are you challenging me?"

"No, I was helping you identify how you were raised based on assumptions. I'm also just as good at it as you're."

He began walking towards her. "Do you know what is off-limits to me?"

Sylvia also began taking steps backward, "What?"

"My parents and talking about me as you please. I don't like that tone."

She scoffed, "At least we're both on the same page when it comes to our parents and I would also like to be extended the same courtesy in regards as to how we address one another."

"Are you commanding me as to how to act?"

"No, I'm just asking for the same, respect goes both ways."

"So, if I don't respect you, what are you going to do about it?"

"I don't know yet."

"Yet? You think you're fit to think of a punishment for the King?"

"I mean the same applies to me, I'm the Queen."

"So the King is equal to the Queen? Is that what you're implying?"

"I believe as husband and wife, the same respect can be reciprocated."

He carried on sauntering towards her as if he was stalking his prey. She swallowed.

"Stop walking."

Sylvia tried but could not help but carry on moving.

"Stop walking, it's an order."

Sylvia stopped walking, knowing that she was making it worse for herself but at least she still had her rage that helped a bit.

When he was in front of her, he grabbed her hair and pulled hard. She felt as if her hair might fall out.

Her scalp was on fire and tears fell involuntarily, how she hated this man with everything that she had but for now she had to beg.

Not that it would be hard with the way her scalp was burning, it felt as if her teeth would fall out at this rate.

"I'm sorry, please let go."

"Tell me everything that you wanted to say. I'm amused."

"I have nothing more to say, I beg your forgiveness, My King. I wasn't thinking, and I take it all back. Please let me go." She sobbed out.

After a few moments of pain, he pushed her to the ground and landed in a thud. "You sleep on the floor."

She nodded quickly, even though it hurt to move her head. "Yes, My King."

"One more thing."

His voice was chilling as he carried on.

"Sylvia, one thing you should never forget is that I am The King before I am your husband."
