"How can I help you, young man?"
"Doc, I've come to express my gratitude for your kindness. After I woke up from the surgery, I noticed you were never around when I visited the hospital. So, I decided to find your house to thank you in person."
"You're very welcome. Take care."
"Wait, Doc. Did I do something wrong?"
"I'm a bit busy, but I'll stop by your shop tomorrow."
"Are you treating the naked man behind you for some sort of illness?"
I felt embarrassed by what he had seen, so I quickly came up with a polite excuse that he would believe and closed the door. After that, we picked up where we had left off. The night was still young after our moment, so I asked him to leave. He wanted to stay over, but it was just a one-time thing, and I hadn't even bothered to ask his name or anything about him.
The next morning, I passed by his shop on my way to work. He seemed upset, but I couldn't figure out why, especially since I was the one who should have been angry. After all, he had come to my place so late without even giving me a heads-up.
"What's with the attitude you're giving me?"
"Doc, I always thought you were a respectable woman. I didn't expect you to be into casual hookups."
"Me? I'm not into hookups! That was just my boyfriend, and he came to visit."
"Sorry, he didn't seem like the kind of guy you'd go for as a boyfriend.
I wasn't sure why, but I felt the urge to convince him to trust me. Once I saw that he was finally convinced, I went on to work. Although I enjoyed my job, it felt a bit dull without Owen around, so I kept myself busy. As I walked by the department, I noticed several men in black standing outside. Curious, I made my way to the front desk to ask what was going on
"Doctor Jasmine, two individuals were brought in severely starved. The police are on their way; they'll be able to explain everything in more detail."
I began the first surgery, but the damage was severe and ultimately fatal. It took me four hours to complete the most critical part. I left my assistant to finish the rest while I moved on to the next patient. Fortunately, his injury hadn't affected any vital organs, so he was stable.
"Doctor, we're from the CIB and need to ask you a few questions about the patients you just operated on. The brother of one of the men you treated came in to file a report, claiming that his brother was starved by the gang leader you operated on. However, the gang members standing there are saying their boss was also starved and was only protecting himself."
I wasn't one to get involved in other people's conflicts, especially not with gangsters, knowing how dangerous things could get. I told the officer I couldn't determine who started it and started heading back to my office. As I walked by, I noticed the guy from the store talking to the police, so I approached him and asked what he was doing there.
After learning he was the one who filed the report, I gave the police a full account of what had happened, making it clear that the gang leader was to blame, as the other victim had a destroyed lung. As I spoke, I could see the gangsters approaching, their faces filled with menace, but I finished my statement to the police without backing down.
I walked into my office, unsure if I had made the right decision. The police had taken all the gangsters to the station for questioning, and as they were escorted out, they kept glancing toward my office, as if they thought I was the reason they were being sent there.
"Doc, you helped me again, and I don't even know how to thank you. First the surgery, and now this. I appreciate it."
"Don't mention it, I just did what was right. I'm heading out to a club, do you want to join me?"
As we were about to leave the garage, a group of men stood in front, blocking the way. I told him to stay inside and stepped out of the car to talk to them. He spoke in a low, tense voice...
"Are you Doctor Jasmine?"
"No, I'm not. So, if you'll excuse me, gentlemen."
"That's a lie, third boss. The second boss sent a picture, and you're the same person. Don't be fooled by her words."
"All doctors look alike, so the picture doesn't matter. If you don't believe me, go to the hospital, and you'll find Doctor Jasmine there."
"The second boss also sent a recording of her voice. Let's play it and see if it's her."
I knew things would get messy if they played the audio. My heart was racing, but I kept my composure. Just as the tension rose, I heard the sound of police sirens approaching the hospital. The men immediately backed off, saying it was fine. I got into the car, trying to act as though I wasn't just a heartbeat away from losing my life.
I ordered a whiskey, while he opted for a cocktail since he couldn't handle alcohol. Despite being older, I never felt out of place with him. He spoke to me like a friend and colleague, I began to realize he had an incredible name and an even cooler personality.
As we sat there, I noticed a handsome guy in the corner, his gaze fixed on me. He approached when Raymond stepped outside to take a call.
"Hello, beautiful. How about we continue this conversation later at your place?"
Raymond asked if something was wrong, and I quickly gave an excuse before taking him home. The night was still young, so I returned to the club to find the attractive young man I had met earlier. I searched for him but couldn't spot him, so I was heading back to my car when I saw him leaning against it.
"Were you waiting for me, handsome?"
"What else could keep me waiting, if not your beauty?"
We went to my place to have some more drinks, I couldn't concentrate on how sexy and smooth his face was. I touched his face and gave him a deep kiss, he jumped on top of me wanting more.
"Doc!"
"My God, Raymond!"
