Even the appearance and meeting place of the kidnappers who took the Olson family's daughter were known. Solving this problem should be a piece of cake, right?
This was a blessing for Officer Nelson, a chance to not only overcome this crisis but also to gain favor with the Olson family!
Officer Nelson excitedly left his room to deploy the police force.
At the same time, he knocked on the door of his office, his previously stern demeanor instantly transforming into that of a lapdog.
"Miss Whitney, through our diligent investigation, combining multiple leads and the tireless efforts of all our officers, we have preliminarily uncovered the truth behind Miss Vanessa's disappearance and the meeting place of her kidnappers!"
"We are currently mobilizing numerous officers to arrest the kidnappers," Officer Nelson said with a beaming smile to the beautiful young woman in front of him.
"You've found information about my sister?" The beautiful young woman asked in surprise.
"Miss Whitney, rest assured, we will capture the kidnappers and rescue Miss Vanessa. We won't betray the trust the Olson family has placed in our department!" Officer Nelson didn't mention the young boy who had reported the case.
Such credit was naturally something he intended to claim for himself.
No! This wasn't about hogging the credit; it was about protecting the boy's safety. If the kidnappers dared to take the Olson family's daughter, what would stop them from retaliating against a mere student?
The beautiful young woman's surprise was quite satisfying to Officer Nelson.
Since she had walked into the office that afternoon, Miss Whitney had been cold and hadn't said a single kind word.
"Alright, in that case, to ensure my sister's safety, we will personally join your operation!" the beautiful young woman continued.
"With Miss Whitney joining us, our operation is sure to succeed!" Officer Nelson said with delight.
That was his goal. While he did want the credit, the kidnappers had dared to take the Olson family's daughter. Who knew what tricks they might have up their sleeves?
The team geared up and headed toward Blue Power Plant.
Through the window, Bertram watched the officers moving swiftly, feeling increasingly reassured. Everything was unfolding just as he had hoped.
Those despicable kidnappers, not only did they abduct others, but they also posed a future threat to him, an innocent person. They couldn't blame him for taking preemptive action!
As for not being able to personally go and arrest the kidnappers, he felt a twinge of regret... Who was he kidding?
There was no way he was going to risk his life for something so dangerous.
He'd stay safely behind the scenes.
Once the officers captured the kidnappers, he could reshape his destiny and earn another round of simulation rewards, quietly growing stronger once more.
The dilapidated concrete walls exposed rusted rebar, surrounded by heaps of trash, some of which looked freshly discarded.
At the entrance, a crooked sign read: Blue Power Plant.
Inside the plant, a group of rugged men were cooking a stew, each eyeing the translucent meat slices being added to the pot.
"Boss, our operation went so smoothly this time. The only hiccup was that kid who saw us, but with how scared he looked, there's no way he'd call the cops!"
"Plus, we've already moved our hostage to our secret base. No one knows about it!"
In other words, even if that kid reported them, it wouldn't matter.
Victory seemed to be smiling down on them.
"Hmph! This time, we've got everything in our favor. It's almost impossible to fail. As for that kid who accidentally saw us, he's a loose end. Once things calm down, we'll take care of him," the scar-faced man said, his foot propped up on a stool, his eyes gleaming with murderous intent.
The group of burly men reveled in their post-operation rewards. Soon, some of them cracked open beers and started drinking together.
This was their secret hideout. No one could find them here, so they felt safe to indulge.
But just then...
"Boss, we've got trouble! The cops are here!" a lookout rushed in, panicked.
"Calm down. It's probably just a couple of patrol officers. We've got enough men to handle them easily," the scar-faced man said, annoyed.
"No, boss, there are a lot of them, nearly a hundred! They've surrounded us. Did someone leak our location?" the lookout said, his face pale.
"Are you drunk? Stop talking nonsense!" the scar-faced man snapped.
However, at that moment, armed officers burst in through the windows, front door, and back door.
Even though ancient martial arts and supernatural abilities existed, firearms still posed a significant threat and could cause serious harm to lower-level practitioners.
The scar-faced man felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on him.
How could they have acted so quickly? He had only kidnapped the person yesterday, and today they had already found his hideout.
Gritting his teeth, the scar-faced man whispered to the henchman beside him, "You pretend to be the boss. If I can escape, I'll find a way to get you all out. Plus, I'll take care of your kid's safety."
Confident in his own abilities, the scar-faced man believed he had a good chance of escaping if the officers couldn't identify the real boss.
Just then, a rotund officer who looked like a mole stepped forward, squinting his eyes. "Has anyone seen the guy with the scar on his face? He's the boss, the organizer of this operation. We can let one or two others go, but this guy, we must not let him escape!"
Suddenly, the officers' guns were all aimed at the scar-faced man.
His expression turned particularly grim as he looked at his group of brothers. There had to be a traitor among them. He couldn't believe that someone he trusted had betrayed him for profit.
"You think you can catch me with your pathetic skills?" the scar-faced man sneered, his powerful aura spreading out, suppressing the officers with his martial prowess.
"D-level martial arts skills... Your background is indeed not simple!" Officer Nelson's heart skipped a beat. This guy was out of his league.
However, this was where caution paid off.
An endless cold wind blew in. Even though it was June, snowflakes began to drift through the power plant. Amidst the white snowflakes, a stunning figure could be faintly seen.
