Yun kong followed Yun Father, his voice soft with a trace of dejection.
Yun Father, walking ahead, was taken aback. "What? You can already sense your spiritual energy? And now you're attempting to merge it with your physical strength?"
"What's wrong? Is sensing spiritual energy really that difficult?" Yun kong pouted, "I could sense my physical strength in just five minutes, and sensing my spiritual energy wasn't that hard either—just had to calm down for a bit. The rest of the time was spent trying to merge them, but no matter how hard I try, it's a failure! If merging even a tiny bit is this hard, how am I supposed to handle all the chakra required for ninjutsu and genjutsu? Seriously, maybe I should just give up on becoming a ninja!"
Yun kong looked up at the sky, his expression one of deep frustration.
"How do you think we're going to handle it?" Yun Father, seeing Yun kong's demeanor, mistakenly thought he was acting spoiled despite being given an opportunity. Without a second thought, he slapped Yun kong on the head.
"Usually, a regular teenager needs the whole morning just to sense their physical energy. Sensing both physical and spiritual energy at the same time takes about two days. And refining chakra usually takes a week. Do you realize how fast you're going right now? The toughest part of refining chakra is merging the physical and spiritual energies—especially on the first try. Once you succeed, your body will remember the correct ratio for future reference. As for the massive amount of chakra you're worrying about, once you succeed, it will come naturally."
Yun Father shared his experience of refining chakra, detailing how he experimented with the fusion of physical and spiritual energy.
Walking with his head down, Yun kong's mood slowly lifted. He couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. If his father were just a simple weapons shopkeeper, the family's legacy of knowledge, let alone the techniques for chakra refinement, would be far beyond what any school teacher could provide.
"Alright, alright, I get it. I'm a genius already. You don't have to keep going on and on like some middle-aged woman!" Yun kong impatiently interrupted Yun Father's long-winded explanation.
"You're about to cross the river and already tearing down the bridge?" Yun Father frowned, annoyed.
"Okay, okay," Yun kong replied, finally nearing his bedroom. He gave his father a shove and added, "I'm not interested in your younger days. Go tell Mom instead—she'll probably care. Maybe after hearing it, she'll be more interested."
Without waiting for a response, Yun kong quickly closed the door behind him.
"This kid!" Yun Father sighed, shaking his head as he left.
Yunkong, once the door was shut, walked a few steps to his bed, kneeled, and began to slowly follow the method his father had described, attempting to merge his physical and spiritual energies.
"Keep the physical energy at a steady level, then slowly increase the spiritual energy, until they merge and form chakra." Yunkong silently repeated in his mind, adjusting his focus.
It was a slow, clumsy method, but also the most effective one.
After multiple failed attempts, Yunkong suddenly felt his body tremble. The fusion of his physical and spiritual energy did not dissipate this time. Instead, it merged into a completely new blue energy.
Chakra. I finally refined it! Yunkong's heart raced with excitement, beyond words.
But as is often the case with those who experience great joy, misfortune follows closely behind. Just as Yunkong reveled in his success, the moment his body relaxed, the chakra he had just fused quickly dissipated.
"Damn it..." Yunkong groaned in his mind.
He had no choice but to start over. Perhaps his father had been right—his body would remember the correct balance of physical and spiritual energy after the first success.
This time, Yun kong effortlessly merged the energies again. The process became smoother, and within minutes, he had stored the chakra within his body.
Phew, finally, success. Feeling the chakra flowing within him, Yunkong let out a deep breath and fully relaxed. He raised his head, ready to turn off the light and sleep, but noticed the faint light of dawn peeking through his window.
"I'm so tired..." The tension that had built up throughout the night began to protest, reminding Yun kong of how much effort he had put in. It was time to rest.
"Do you think I'll get expelled if I skip class on the first day?" Yunkong mused aloud, and the answer seemed obvious: about 90% chance of "Yes."
"Well, in that case, no sleep for me. I'll refine some more chakra," he muttered, looking at the sky growing lighter. Even if he did sleep now, he'd only get about half an hour of rest before needing to wake up. Might as well stay up and get more done.
Half an hour passed in the blink of an eye, and as usual, the alarm clock by his bed rang, unwilling to let the quiet last.
Yunkong opened his eyes, smiling widely. The method passed down from the Senju family really worked! His chakra reserves were already quite impressive. After just an hour, Yunkong was even more convinced that the Senju family's method of chakra refinement was far superior to what was taught in schools.
Though his spirits were high, his body's exhaustion was undeniable. With dark circles under his eyes, like a pair of panda eyes, Yunkong wearily made his way to the washroom. After freshening up, he slowly trudged downstairs with one eye barely open.
Seeing Yun kong in such a half-awake state, Yun Father was very displeased. He slapped Yun kong on the back, "How can you be so listless at such a young age?"
Yun kong glanced at his father, then at his panda eyes, silently cursing. "You slept all night. I haven't slept at all. If anyone's exhausted, it's me!"
Yun Father leaned in closer and whispered, "Did you stay up all night?"
Seriously? Does he need to ask? Yun kong almost wrote it on his face.
"How's the chakra refinement going?" Yun Father asked softly.
"Small problem, of course I solved it in no time!" Yunkong flashed a confident smile. "It's done!"
"Really?" Yun Father asked quietly.
"Look for yourself. Can't the Sharingan see chakra?" Yun kong responded in a low voice.
Yun Father looked suspiciously at him, "Are you really going to use your Sharingan to check?" Yun Kong muttered.
"Old man, so straightforward," Yun kong thought, mentally scoffing.
Just then, Yun Mother stepped in to save Yun kong from further awkwardness. "What are you two whispering about? Hurry up and eat!"
Yun Mother called out.
