Due to the greasy skewers and bubble tea she had, Ji Tian's appetite had drastically decreased tonight.
She barely managed to eat half a bowl of rice.
Ji Lingyun rarely came home, living mostly out in his work sphere—sleeping and working, known in the business circles as a workaholic.
To what extent?
He was twenty-seven and still single.
So until now, Ji Tian had never met her strict elder brother.
Ji Qilin occasionally came home, checked on Ji Tian briefly then left, immersed in creating new pharmaceutical formulas. He was another workaholic; without a breakthrough in his formulas, he could not even think of sleeping.
It was really too competitive.
In contrast, she and Ji Weinan seemed much more relaxed since they were still in school, and Ji Weinan's grades were poor, often ranked among the last. Over time, the family stopped bothering about him and shifted their focus onto her.
But now she had to say sorry, not because she wasn't studying, but because it was genuinely hard for her. Thus, she decided to compete with Ji Weinan for the last place and sit together at the back of the grade from then on.
The next day at six o'clock, she was forced to get up. She usually slept at midnight and waking up early in the morning left her extremely tired. She hadn't experienced studying this early in a long time, and after three consecutive days, she felt wilted.
Fortunately, she could now catch up on sleep in the classroom.
She brought the T-shirt she had bought the day before.
This time, she would not stop Qin Jiangsheng at the school gate amidst so many people.
She looked around; Qin Jiangsheng was easy to spot in the crowd, quite conspicuous because of his handsome face. Even with a not-so-glorious identity, he still attracted quite a bit of attention from the girls.
But…
Seeing the thick hoodie on him, Ji Tian couldn't help but twitch the corners of her mouth. It seemed the previous experiences of being stripped had made him cautious.
Ji Tian mentally apologized for her sins and, with head lowered, also entered the school grounds.
For the first time, Jian Chuyi was sitting in the classroom reading early in the morning, usually arriving even later than Ji Tian. It seemed that yesterday's slacking off had instilled a sense of guilt, so she started painfully memorizing vocabulary early.
"Morning, Chuyi."
Jian Chuyi looked at her with a frustrated and listless expression, "Morning, Tiantian."
"What if the teacher does a spot check later? I still haven't memorized it."
Considering English, Ji Tian wasn't worried at all; she had painfully studied English for a graduate entrance exam. But seeing these English letters combined together again, she decided to turn a blind eye, as this experience was too painful and she didn't want to recall it.
She set down her school bag and casually said, "Don't panic. You need to rest enough to study well, right?"
Jian Chuyi's eyes lit up; Ji Tian had once again voiced her thoughts. Just as she was about to close her book and read some comics, a clear and pleasant female voice rang out, "You were born winners, given the chance to study in such a prestigious school, yet you do not cherish it. Do you think this is what your parents expect of you?"
Ji Tian looked up and saw that it was Shen Zhiyi, her expression stern and her eyes full of disapproval, as if not studying were a grievous sin.
Jian Chuyi, too intimidated to argue. Her family was wealthy, but she was soft-spoken and highly respectful of students with good grades. Shen Zhiyi had earned her place through academic achievement and could even compete with Bai Tingyu. Being an exemplary student, Chuyi preferred to avoid trouble, so she put the comic book away and painfully resumed memorizing vocabulary.
Seeing that the other students had started studying, Shen Zhiyi went straight to her own seat.
In a place where no one could see, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, her whole persona radiating pleasure.
Ji Tian glanced at her retreating figure and frowned slightly; there was something indescribably strange about Shen Zhiyi.
