The loud beeping sound of the heart monitor, inside the intensive care unit of the hospital could be heard, lying on the hospital was a handsome young man who looked seriously injured. He has a few scratches on his face as a result of the accident he was involved in, but the most depressing matter about his situation is the part where he was in a comatose condition.
Alexander Knights.
Billionaire son of a second generational tycoon, Michael Knights. Though, rumors had it that he's the product of an affair between his father and a whore. Hence, that makes him the illegitimate son of the Knights family, with step siblings from the wife of his father.
The Knights Empire is the world leading automobile business company among the top list. Thanks to Alexander's wisdom, he was able to achieve greater heights in the business as the CEO of the company rather than when his father was leading.
Although, rumors has it that the family business didn't entirely generate its money from solely investing in their business, hence, they had ties with the underworld criminal activities which arose from rumors that behind the successful business, Alexander was the leader of a mafia organization.
But since no one actually had a proof to back that claim, the rumors were merely seen as the jealousy coming from the side of their opposition trying to bring the family business down. So, the truth was either hidden by the family for reasons known to them, or that they truly did not have anything to do with the allegation blamed against them.
But there was more the eyes can see that what was shown to them everyday by the Kinghts coporarion. Since Alexander was born and tagged as a shame and disgrace from his grandfather, the old man, Romano Knights has him raised at the care of his sister, away from his father, step siblings and step mother.
It was more of letting him know his position in the family. Growing up, the young boy was treated no less than a slave, which prompted his decision to prove to them that he was much more than they tagged him out to be. The only reason why they had accepted him, into the family was because he was Micheal's very first child and son.
So, at a very young age, Alexander was making waves both in his studies and personal life. With the determination to prove himself useful to the family, the young boy had feared being cast away just like his mother, who had abandoned him in the hospital the day he was born. So, everything he has done right from his small age was backed up, with the fear that he needed his father's approval that he was someone worthy of being called his son.
But with his stepmother being a nuisance between him and his father, Alexander has had it rough with life, not knowing what it feels to be loved until he met her.
Selina.
"How's he, Doctor?" Harry asked, standing at the foot of his bed while staring at his boss. He didn't know how to control the situation, so he kept his accident a secret.
None of his family knew that anything bad had happened to him, fearing the result that this news reaching to them might cost him.
It's not been a month since Alexander was made the new CEO of the company, after hard and difficult days where he had worked his ass out for this. Harry knew the extent that he has gone to be who he was today, and no mere accident would ruin what he has protected.
But it wasn't his fault that Alexander chose to be in this condition, it was all his fault for loving the wrong woman. As they say, behind the success of a great man stands a woman, but Selina is more of a devil out to frustrate Alexander's life than actually being a ray of sunshine in his life.
Despite everything, Harry knew that hell would break loose if Alexander woke up and there's no sign of her here. He has not always believed him when he tried letting him know of his girlfriend's promiscuous lifestyle, though, the result of it is him being here, in a coma with no idea when he's going to wake up.
A sigh left the doctor's lips which gave Harry the heads up that he wouldn't like his answer, "The hit he took to his head was fatal, but thankfully no hard damage was done. Yet, it's of his will that he gets to survive this, so, for the meantime it's required that his family gets to pray for his swift recovery, as i am still ambivalent on when exactly he's going to wake up."
Doctor Sam explained.
He knew exactly the kind of people Alexander's family is, but he's doing the part of his job just like Harry had paid him off to keep this a secret. It was already risky that he's going in and out of the hospital on a daily basis. But Harry knew that, it would be more riskier keeping Alexander in the family house, where his father or grandfather might find out what's going on.
"Is there anything else that he might need to speed up his recovery? You see doctor," Harry said, trying hard to control his racing heart. "This is an important time for him." He whispered.
"Just like i said, I think it's best if you let his family know what is going on. If i may take my leave now." The Doctor said lastly, before leaving a confused and frustrated Harry smith, with Alexander who was lying on the bed sleeping.
He looked so peaceful right now, which Harry was all too familiar with, that he hasn't seen him take some rest like he was doing right now.
The stress of trying to keep the company and the Mafia business, it was weighing down heavily in him. But Alexander being who he is, would rather stress than to allow his step brothers take what rightfully belongs to him.
Harry took one last glance at Alexander, before leaving his room which caused him to lose the opportunity to see Alexander's hands move a little bit.
"Sir." Caleb came to view once Harry was out of Alexander's room.
"How's the search going? Have you found her yet?" Harry asked, he was referring to Alexander's girlfriend. The tradition in the family, has it that he was meant to get married as soon as getting the position of the CEO at the company, it was to balance both his work life as personal life.
Unlike Alexander's step brothers who practically lived in the club, Alexander is the only responsible person out of them all. Though, that was more reason why his uptight and strict Grandfather, didn't change his mind about giving him the company.
In appreciation for all he has done, Alexander was given the liberty to choose his spouse. Though Selina was from a rich family and a renowned model, his family has no problem with his choice of spouse, as long as he gets married.
But the only problem is the part where Alexander loved her too hard, that he was practically blind to see that Selina was just using him for his fake age money. He has gotten into an accident, on his way to stop her from running away from her secret lover.
"Not yet." Caleb said. "I don't think the big bosses knows anything about her disappearance yet, nor of sir's accident."
"Continue to keep it that way, about finding Selina, keep it under the radar and make sure none of this gets out to his siblings, am i clear?" Harry ordered Caleb, who affirmed to his words.
"About the girl.." Caleb said, as Harry sighed In exhaustion at the talk of Ariana, the girl who looks like Selina.
"What about her?" He retorted.
"Do you think she will change her mind? I mean, who doesn't want our boss? He's handsome and stinking rich. What else does she want if not money when she's practically living in poverty?" Caleb voiced out his opinion.
"Fazes me too, but she will come around, you will see." Harry said, tugging at his tie.
"How sure are you?"Caleb asked him as Harry glared at him for talking to him in that manner of approach. "No offense, but we don't actually know when Boss is going to wake up. It might be now, tomorrow…"
"Or never." Harry completed his statement.
"The reality of the matter is that we need to get her on our side as soon as possible." Caleb concluded.
Harry come closer to pat his shoulder. "Desperate people would do anything for money, it's just a matter of time before she realizes what exactly she needs. So, don't worry."
"Ofcourse sir." Caleb said, before looking at Alexander through the little translucent mirror in the middle of the door. "I just pray it all works out in the end, I mean all hell would break loose if he wakes up to realize that she's gone."
Harry washed to answer him but was swiftly interrupted by his phone that was ringing. He took it out of his breast pocket only to pause when he saw who was calling.
Caleb who saw the look on his face knew that something was wrong, he came close to Harry and when he looked at his phone, he knew that their cover might have been burst too early.
It was none other than the Godfather, Romano Knights, Alexander's Grandfather.
