Chapter 16 - 016 servant

Charlie followed Carl to the reception area of the botanical garden.

At this time, Griffin was sitting in the guest seat, with a group of menacing servants behind him. In the fierce gaze of the servants, Charlie and Carl walked in.

Inadvertently, Charlie saw a familiar figure in the crowd - it was him! No wonder he had been targeted by Griffin.

Charlie's memory was good, and he recognized the man's identity at a glance - he was the thin, dark man who had participated in the trial work with him. It turned out he was one of Griffin's people. This steward was also bold, actually embedding a spy in Master Roen's botanical garden? Also unknown for what purpose?

It was very obvious that the purpose was not for him, because this incident happened before Charlie decided to go to the botanical garden. Griffin could not have had the ability to see the future, he must have had some ulterior motive for the botanical garden, and this might be a reason to persuade Master Roen to act.

Charlie remained calm and waited for Griffin to make a move.

Carl was very uncomfortable being stared at by the rude servants. He said, "Lord Griffin, what is the meaning of this? Coming to the botanical garden to cause trouble? Should I issue an alarm and have the law enforcement come take a look?"

At least on the surface, he couldn't let people take advantage of him. Griffin didn't dare to be negligent, and quickly put on a smiling face, chuckling, "Master, don't be angry. I'm here today to deal with a family matter on the orders of the Grand Duke. I have already shown the law enforcement the Grand Duke's notice. If I have disturbed the tranquility of the botanical garden, I hope Master Carl can explain to Master Roen."

Carl questioned, "Family matter? What do you mean?"

Griffin turned his head, raising his proud nose, and the black mole on his face shone with an oily luster due to his slight excitement: "Charlie, how dare you deceive Master Carl! You are so audacious!"

Carl cast a puzzled gaze at Charlie. Wasn't this young man calling himself Ethan? Why was he called Charlie? Who was this Charlie?

Charlie met Griffin's scorching gaze and asked, "Griffin, what business do you have with me?"

Griffin sneered, "Young Master Charlie, it seems your memory is really bad! I'm sure Brian must have told you where you can and cannot go in William Castle. This is a rule set by the Grand Duke. It hasn't been a few days, and you've already completely forgotten about it! What's wrong with that?"

"So what? I'm doing things within the rules of the Master. Is there anything wrong with that?" Charlie smiled in response, and suddenly he walked into the crowd, grabbing the arm of a man, saying, "Besides, you're not following the rules either! This man was a caretaker who started on the same day as me. Why is he here instead of at work?"

The thin, dark man was shocked, struggling to break free, but was firmly grasped by Charlie.

Griffin was thrown off by this sudden attack, his face flushing red with anger. "What are you doing! Why are you touching my people? Let him go! Quickly!!"

Charlie avoided the spittle spraying at him and smiled, "You first explain my question. Isn't he a spy you planted in the botanical garden?"

Charlie saw that Master Carl didn't seem to be able to keep up with the pace, so he directly exposed the matter.

"Shut up!" Griffin roared, "What do you think you are? You're nothing right now! Drop this so-called young master act! William Castle is my domain! If you live here, you have to listen to me! I advise you not to think that just because you are the Grand Duke's son, I won't dare to discipline you!"

It had to be said that after years of tyranny, when this guy got angry, his aura was overwhelming. A group of burly servants, hearing his roar, instinctively had their legs shaking, seeming to be terribly afraid, likely having been mistreated by him often.

At this time, Carl finally understood the story behind this. It turned out this young man was the protagonist who had caused such a commotion in Seines City recently, daring to commit indecency against the Imperial Princess at such a young age. He was indeed audacious. But Carl had some doubts - seeing his mature and steady daily performance, he didn't seem like such a flamboyant person. Could there be more to the story?

Doubts aside, Carl still had to respond to this news.

Carl said sternly, "Lord Griffin, not disturbing the order of the magic area is a rule set by the Grand Duke himself. How dare you plant your own people in the botanical garden?! You'd better give a reasonable explanation for this. Was this your idea, or someone else's?"

Griffin glared fiercely at Charlie, quickly explaining, "Master, this is a misunderstanding. The people I recommended are indeed part of my workforce, skilled workers in the castle.

However, it's precisely because I know them well and know they are skilled and hardworking, that I recommended them to you. It was out of good intentions. Also, your request was so sudden, there wasn't enough time to find so many suitable people. I hope you won't be misled!

The Grand Duke and Master Roen are good friends. How could we servants do such a thing?"

Although standing against Griffin, Charlie couldn't help but applaud his quick wit. This man was really impressive. With a few words, he had dispelled most of Carl's doubts, and Carl's attitude was starting to lean towards the other party again.

Charlie sneered, "This guy is thin and dark, not very skilled at work, but he's a natural at keeping an eye on people. I come to the botanical garden to do things, and look, Griffin the steward already knows about it. He's really smart!"

A fatal blow, immediately making Griffin's explanation pale and powerless. Facts are more powerful than words, and the fact that he had left his post was a living example.

Carl thought for a moment and said, "Griffin, you don't need to explain to me, a mere herbalist. This matter is complex, I can't hide it from the Master. Regarding today's events, I will report truthfully, treat everyone equally. Even if you have a thousand grievances, there's nothing to be done. You'd better think about how to explain to the Master Sorcerer!"

Seeing the situation developing in the worst direction, Griffin simply didn't care anymore. He poured all his anger onto Charlie, angrily shouting, "Come on! Help me arrest this presumptuous, arrogant little ruffian!"

If at this time Master Carl had loudly stopped him and confronted Griffin head-on, Griffin would not have dared to take action. But he was not the director, nor was he Yolanda. Facing the ferocious servants, Carl was a bit timid and didn't react in time.

However, this situation was exactly what Charlie was aiming for.

Charlie stared coldly at the burly man in front of him and said angrily, "Griffin, you need to be mindful of your identity! You may be called a steward, but in a bad sense, you're just a dog of the Pavi family. What qualifies you to boss me around!"

Griffin raised a piece of paper in his hand, like waving a victorious banner, he sneered, "Oh! By the way, I do have the right! This is a letter written by your father, Duke Thomas, asking me to oversee you."

With that, he waved his hand and ordered, "Tie him up!"

Charlie sneered, "Waving a chicken feather as a sword, what do you mean by 'overseer'? Imprisoning and mistreating me, what do you think that means? You need to be clear, don't ruin the great matter of Master Roen for the sake of face. Can you bear the responsibility?"

Charlie's words were aimed at Carl. To Griffin's ears, it was just empty bravado, because Griffin had no idea what had happened in the garden, let alone that Charlie had already established a relationship with Master Roen.

Griffin sneered, "Ha! Just you? A stupid, weak fool dares to mention Master Roen, it's simply hilarious!"

Saying that, he roared at the nearby servants, "Didn't you hear me? Go and do it!"

Under Griffin's roar, the servants pounced like wolves and tigers.

Charlie shouted loudly, "Stop! I'll go with you! This is the botanical garden, do you really dare to disrupt the rules set by the Master Sorcerer?"

At this point, Carl finally snapped out of it, looking displeased. "Griffin, this is the magic area! Don't go too far!"

Griffin's anger had already spilled out, and he couldn't restrain his emotions for the moment, just coldly responding, "Of course I know."

Then he turned to Charlie with a sinister smile and said, "Young master, come with me!"

Charlie solemnly said, "Griffin, one day you will regret this, and I believe that day is not far away!"

"Heh! I look forward to that day, I'm just afraid young master Charlie doesn't have the ability to make me regret it!" Griffin stepped forward, slapping his fat hand towards Charlie's face, but was blocked by Charlie's two hands. Griffin laughed, "I know you want to save yourself, you've realized and want to make amends, but unfortunately, it's too late. I don't care what grievances you have with outsiders, as long as you stay in William Castle, I'll make sure you'll never have a peaceful day! You can forget about climbing out of this pit!"

A group of people restrained Charlie and took him out of the botanical garden.

Carl was stunned for a moment, hurriedly heading towards the core of the botanical garden. He had to first find Yolanda to explain the situation, and then report to the Master.

Unfortunately, Master Roen was not in the Mage Tower, nor did Yolanda know where the Grand Master was.

In a hurry, Yolanda activated the special communication equipment to notify Master Roen...

Half an hour later, the Master hurriedly returned to the Mage Tower, and Yolanda led Carl to wait in the middle hall.

Carl said nervously, "Master Roen, I apologize for disturbing your rest. Your servant has important news to report."

"Speak." Roen put down the letter in his hand.

"The first thing is, I have to report truthfully that the Ethan in the botanical garden is actually called Charlie, he is the Grand Duke's son."

Roen nodded slightly and calmly said, "I know."

Carl was suddenly assured, and continued, "Two hours ago, Griffin took him away by force."

Roen furrowed his brow, his voice a bit stern, "What happened?"

Carl explained, "This morning, Lord Griffin came to the botanical garden with the Grand Duke's notice, gathering a large group of servants to look for Charlie. I helped convey a message, and Charlie agreed to meet him.

Griffin was dissatisfied with Charlie's attitude, and exposed his planting of a spy in the botanical garden. Charlie was also unhappy with Griffin interfering in his life, and they got into an argument.

Then Griffin took out the Duke's letter, saying the Duke had given him the authority to oversee Charlie, and instructed his subordinates to take Charlie away.

I'm not sure if that letter is the Duke's handwriting, he didn't show it to me. Anyway, Griffin's attitude was very arrogant."

Carl's narration basically clarified the whole process, but inevitably there would be some bias due to personal relationships. After all, Griffin's overbearing attitude had made him very angry.

Yolanda timely supplemented, "Teacher, Charlie has made some progress in his research on the Bloody Arum. He found a method to temporarily stop the Bloody Arum from constantly weakening. We were about to delve deeper into the research, but this incident interrupted it."

"Outrageous! That vile thing dares to grab someone in my botanical garden? Who gave him the gall?" Roen was furious, slamming his palm on the table.
