Rush hour as always in the big city. The hustle and bustle brings a unique life to the city. Exiting the taxi, a young gentleman with average features in a black suit and white tie. Emitting the air of professionalism, he slowly made his way towards a towering real estate building. Levi made a gesture of greeting toward the security guards as he entered the building.
Click-clack, the sound of keyboards being abused by their respective users dominantly reverted through the office. Seated in his cubicle Levi went about his work, making reports and sorting files on houses available and checking up on potential buyers. Landing a job as a real estate agent in his early 20s has been the biggest windfall for Levi.
''Levi my man how have you been?''A blonde haired middle aged man enthusiastically said to Levi as he stood beside Levis cubicle with a smile plastered on his face, "good as always Brad" Levi replied with a slight smile as he curled his lips. "Noticed you have been doing extra hours, just don't over do it man, your health matters. Landing such a job in your 20s is already impressive. Lay back and relax a bit".
"Thanks for the advice Brad, much appreciated" Levi said as he leaned back on his seat. With a nod Brad walked towards his cubicle humming a happy tune. After the short interlude with Brad, Levi sighed as he inhaled and exhaled to relax before resuming his work.
Time flies, Most people leave for their homes and some just like Levi choose to do extra hours. "After doing extra hours today I need to lay off a bit, seems Brad was right, my health must be taken into consideration" Levi had a thoughtful look on his face as he was pondering over Brad's advice.
After exiting the bus, a lonely silhouette made his way towards the direction of his apartment. Levi could have decided to take a Taxi but he chose to walk to loosen his muscles up a bit. Passing by an alley he was stunned by the sight of a man in black leather pants and jackets leaning weakly on a dumpster. What made it more intriguing was that he knew this man. It was his colleague Brad but this time around his hair was fiery red instead of blonde.
He cautiously approached and asked "Brad are you okay? Do you need me to call the ambulance cause you don't look good" lifting his head slowly Brads eyes came in contact with Levis familiar face, pale faced Brad weakly said "Guess today ain't my lucky day Levi my man. No need to call the ambulance take me home. I will be okay when we get there, It's just located after the end of the alley in a zone close to the slums"
Complying with Brad's wishes Levi held him up supporting his movement as he weakly but steadily guided their way to his place. They came to a dilapidated hotel as they slowly made their way to Brad's room located on the third floor. With the doors locked and everything else in check Brad slouched on the sofa as he gestured Levi to take a seat.
Looking around Levi spotted a bronze urn on the shelf just underneath a painting of an ancient Egyptian pyramid, Forming a strange contrast. Brad weakly got up and walked into the kitchen disappearing from Levi's view. Minutes later he came out of the kitchen no longer looking pale and weak with a bottle of cold beer.
Staring dumb founded Levi took the beer as Brad handed it to him. "you might have a lot of questions right" Brad asked as he sat on the sofa beside Levi. "Not really, can't say I'm not curious but everyone has their secrets." Levi calmly spoke as he sipped his beer. "wise words" Brad mused with a smirk on his face. Silence ensued as both men drank their beer lost in their own thoughts.
Levi's gaze lingered on the bronze urn from time to time. Brad noticed this stated "this urn has been with me for a while now. Can't open it though but I can definitely say its empty. You know what? take it as a souvenir or better yet as a token of our friendship, not like I use it any ways."
Brad stood up, fetched the urn and gave to Levi. "A very peculiar gift I must say. Not one you would expect to receive as a token of friendship" Levi expressed as he received the urn, Leaving Brad with an embarrassed expression on his face.
"its getting late, I must take my leave" Levi muttered. "yeah I agree with you" Brad interjected. Levi took the urn as he was escorted to the door by Brad. "goodnight Brad see you at work tomorrow" Levi said as he walked out of brads apartment heading to the lift at the end of the corridor on the third floor. "sure thing Levi my man" with ruby glowing eyes Brad exclaimed as Levis back faced him. Levi left completely unaware of what just happened behind him.
