Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

He had heard about heavenly pacts like this from his eldest brother shi, after he came home from hunting missions.

They were rare other then those in wealthy, royal clans unlike the Shinto. The Shinto were heavy in loyalty and strength but wealth and popularity, not as much so there had never been one in there lineage.

From what shi had told him. People with heavenly pacts had a voice in there head and strange abilities related to there situation, apparently those with it had a spread sheet or check list of sorts. It usually took place somewhere in there head appearing as a place connected to there ability. All they needed to do to find it is say the name of there ability.

Without another thought he said outwardly. SPECTRAL SHADOW. Again he found himself in the airport. In the middle of the airport was a contrasting patch of grass. A wooden pedestal stood in the middle. On it was a parchment.

As he walked closer he realized it was the patch where he had sat with his father and his mother's ashes. He looked at the parchment, it read

MAIN ABILITY: SPECTRAL SHADOW

DESCRIPTION: you possess the ability to communicate with and harness the emotions of spirits tied to grief and loss much like yourself. This power also allows you to channel the sorrow that follows you, transforming it into a protective aura that shields you from harm. You cannot be harmed but everyone around you perishes in an awful way shortly after meeting you. Your skin has been tainted by the entity of sorrow itself, anyone who comes into contact with you with surely die. Additionally, you can summon the wisdom of lost souls and ancestors to gain insights and guidance in difficult situations, providing him with strength to face his challenges.

Effects: Barricade of Death- protects from any outward physical attacks, Spirit Sight- can call upon lost souls and his ancestors for incite, Super Form- can fly, move impossibly fast, survive or reflect nearly any attack, and project enough energy to destroy a planet.

Wow, imagine a sick little rat like me having one of the most unique abilities I've ever heard.

Often heavenly pacts are more like physical enhancements or magic enhancements for mages. They were all kinda specific to the persons situation so there is no generalization really.

As soon as he finished reading he snapped back to reality he was in his room again. Standing there staring off into space, his father dead on the floor. As the dust floated slowly across the room shining in the moonlight he looked over to the doorway. He heard a whimper then footsteps running away.

He didn't get a good enough look to tell who it was but he could tell what they thought was happening. And he knew it wasn't right.

As quick as he could he leaped over the bed and kovu and ran through the hallway after what he could now see was a girl. She took a left turn from where she'd come and down the stairs. Zhou couldn't turn fast enough and slammed into the wall. The pain wasn't as much as he had expected. Come to think of it his stamina was much greater to, due to not being able to move for half the day.

He didn't have time to think about it now the girl was down the stairs and almost at the door now. He jumped down the stairs but was to late. She had already ran out of the door screaming bloody murder.

He knew there was nothing he could do but run, and so he did. In a hurry all he could do was grab his mother's box and his fathers old tanto.

It had been passed down for generations ever since Zhou's 5x great grandfather. He was the greatest fire mage in the land, he was one of the original settlers in the land. Coming from europe they came in huge boats. His name was Geto, Geto Shinto, a fire mage from Spain. He spread Spanish throughout the new magical land and they taught Geto how to improve his fire bending abilities.

The tanto was a gift from the natives, the Europeans had little supplies, because of the terrible waters and long voyage most of there supplies were thrown overboard. The natives gave Geto a tanto and taught him to not only use it in the art of combat but how to use it as a practical tool.

The tanto was there families most prized possession. Although they were not well known they were very important in the culmination of the new nation of Ausmane.

Zhou wasn't a well versed swordsmen like his ancestors, all he knew was that the tanto looked similar to a katana but half the length and a thicker blade. It looked like a machete crossed with a katana. The handle was rounder and the blade was thicker, it looked bulky and awkward. Zhou assumed it was good for being concealed and being sneaky.

It's handle was a light wood color, the cross gaurd was a darker more redish color and the blade was black with a purple serrated outline.

The sheath was black with purple writing and outline, the string wrapped around it was purple also (for grip).

He examined it for a second in aww. He didn't have time to lie about, the cops would be coming soon and at was going to be day time soon.

With the tanto sheathed by his side and the box in his hands he voyaged off into the night much like his ancestors, exploring an unfamiliar land with no knowledge of how to survive, nothing but pure determination under the moonlight sky.
