*vision begins fading, OUT of the void*
alright, there we go, the beginning!
now, few rules, please keep all hands and feet inside the cart during the entirety of the ride, no flash photography, and most importantly, have. fun.
anywhos, onto the story!
*the voice of our beloved main character exclaims oh so joyfully as the scene goes from blurry colors, to a shitty little, decrepit, rat infested, trash filled, below the poverty line, government provided apartment, where a girl looking no more than 18, sits on her knees staring at her hands in shock, a large, overweight, balding man imposingly standing right above her, belt in hand, crooked smirk on face.*
"I didn't hit you THAT hard." he snickered, pulling my attention upwards.
"so stop crying." he spat, aggressively as he brought the belt whipping across my face.
but, before he could move, blink, hell, take another breath, time itself, froze.
and in the place of the man, was a shadowy figure that sent paralyzing waves of instinctual fear coursing through my body, alongside something else, something far more important.
memories.
I shrieked in pain as the searing heat sent me crashing to the floor holding my head with both hands.
something this figure, faceless and featureless, just, stood there patiently watching, as if he understood what was happening, and NEEDED it, to happen.
and once it had, once it'd run its course, and I wobblily staggered upwards somewhat, shakily, at best, rising to my feet.
he, it, she?
whatever it was, cleared its throat, and in a voice I found myself genuinely unable to decipher as human, male, female, or anything else for that matter, spoke, "Humans find themselves confused by the unfamiliar, and since you're no longer a male, I figured I'd temporarily place you in something you knew, something you left behind."
with a gesture all around it to the apartment, only to raise that same hand in a, "stop" gesture, and shake its head side to side.
before saying, "temporarily, my contracted, I promised you when we made our deal, did I not? so do not worry, your TRUE father, will come to claim you, and will give you what you asked for."
in a reassuring tone, I think?
I blinked a few times to clear the lingering pain in my skull.
which, also had an added benefit of clearing my head to a new degree I'd never thought possible, I mean, it was almost as if I could perceive the world around me a whole hell of a lot better than ever before.
I marveled as the figure chuckled a single solitary time.
"yes, this is a part of what was given." it nodded, essentially confirming that yes, yes it could read my mind, or, at the very least, understand me on a fundamental level no mortal could ever reach, and the instant I thought that, he let out, "usually, it's no mind reading, but, has served me well. now, my contracted, my god in the mortal realm, there is but one thing and one thing you must know, ^$&*^@^@^*$^@^$*@(@&$^$&@*(@$&$^@%@%@%@!*&*()(*&^%&*(*&^%$%^&*()(*&^%$#$%^&*()_)(*&^%$#%^&*()_+_)(*&^%$#$%^&*()_+)(*&^%$#$%^&*()_+_)(*&^%$#$%^&*()_(*&^%$#@!@#$%^&*()_." it's voice became a twisted, distorted mess, and before I could ask, beg, plead him, it, to tell me in SOMETHING I understood, it vanished, and time, once again, resumed.
right as the man hit me in the stomach, knocking me to the floor coughing and gagging, barely able to resist the urge to vomit.
a grin plastered across his face from ear to ear as he knelt down, grabbed me by the hair, lifted me up to where we were eye level, and cackling, "you think this is bad now?" in a hysterical fit of laughter.
"Just wait!" he lost it, doubling over and holding his stomach with one hand while tears streamed down his face.
much like mine, except, I had a feeling that the emotions behind the two, weren't just vastly different.
but in fact, entire worlds apart.
