Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: A Heavenly Entrance

Zara was used to dressing up, but even she had to admit that tonight she'd outdone herself. The emerald green gown she'd chosen fit her like a glove, its shimmering fabric catching the light with every movement. She wore her hair in loose waves cascading over one shoulder, and her makeup was understated yet perfect, accentuating her natural beauty. As she fastened her diamond earrings, she glanced in the mirror and gave herself a satisfied nod.

When she descended the stairs, Xavier was waiting in the living room, adjusting the cufflinks on his sharp black tuxedo. He looked up at the sound of her heels clicking against the floor, and for a moment, he froze.

"You clean up well," Zara teased, smoothing her gown as she reached the bottom of the stairs.

Xavier's lips twitched slightly. "You're late."

"You're welcome," she replied with a grin, grabbing her clutch.

As they stepped into the Cadillac InnerSpace, Zara immediately connected her phone to the car's sound system. The upbeat tunes of her playlist filled the air, and she began humming along.

"Do you have anything less... irritating?" Xavier asked, his face unreadable as he navigated through the city.

"I'll have you know my taste in music is impeccable," she shot back, turning the volume up slightly just to annoy him.

Xavier sighed, his grip on the steering wheel tightening ever so slightly.

When they arrived at the venue, the sight of the luxurious estate lit up like a fairytale castle made Zara momentarily forget her playful banter. Paparazzi were stationed outside, their cameras already flashing as the Cadillac came to a stop.

Xavier stepped out first, his tall, commanding presence drawing immediate attention. He turned, offering his hand to Zara. She took it, stepping gracefully out of the car. The moment she appeared, the cameras went wild.

"Zara, Xavier! Are you two dating?"

"Is this the next power couple we're seeing?"

"Zara, who are you wearing tonight?"

They didn't answer, but Xavier's hand, which had settled firmly on Zara's waist, spoke volumes. The possessive gesture didn't go unnoticed, and Zara bit back a smirk as she caught sight of some reporters whispering excitedly.

As they made their way down the red carpet, they posed briefly for photos, their contrasting appearances a sight to behold. Zara, ethereal and radiant, looked like an angel descended from heaven. Xavier, with his sculpted features and confident stride, resembled a Greek god come to life.

Once inside, the grandeur of the ballroom came into view. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, casting a warm glow over the sea of elegantly dressed guests. The buzz of conversation stilled the moment Zara and Xavier entered, their presence commanding attention as heads turned in unison.

"Do they always stare like this?" Zara whispered, leaning slightly toward Xavier.

"You're used to being stared at," he replied casually, guiding her toward their table.

"Yes, but not with you," she muttered, stealing a glance at the curious onlookers.

For a moment, it seemed as though the world had stopped to admire them. Together, they were a vision of perfection—a duo that exuded elegance, power, and mystery.

Zara couldn't help but wonder if Xavier felt as out of place as she did in moments like this. But as she caught a glimpse of his calm, collected demeanor, she decided not to ask.

"Shall we?" he said, pulling out her chair.

Zara smiled, taking her seat. The night was just beginning, and she had a feeling it would be one to remember.
