Chapter 176 - Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command! [176] [40 PS]

This bonus chapter is a small gift—may it bring you a touch of tranquility.

With a swift swipe of its Psycho Cut, Mewtwo effortlessly sliced through the vines tangled around its psychic spoon.

At the same time, a layer of blue psychic energy surrounded Mewtwo, blocking the sleep powder falling from above.

Then… Mewtwo raised its head, and with a flick of its spoon toward the sky, struck the approaching Venusaur, who was attempting to Body Slam.

Boom!

Venusaur's body was sent off course by the impact, crashing heavily into the ground.

Just then, Erika's Vileplume and Bellossom launched Acid and Petal Dance, striking Mewtwo's freshly raised psychic shield.

Crackle, crackle.

A storm of petals pelted Mewtwo's barrier, causing it to sizzle and pop with each hit.

As Acid seeped into the shield, it emitted a sharp hissing sound as it attempted to corrode through the defense.

In Erika's estimation, her two main Pokémon's coordinated assault should break through the barrier soon. She was already preparing for Vileplume's next attack.

But, to Erika's surprise, the shield—despite enduring both Petal Dance and Acid—only shimmered slightly at the surface, without the slightest indication of breaking.

"No way!" Erika's eyes widened in disbelief.

She was hitting Mewtwo with everything her main Pokémon had, yet the shield remained unscathed. Had it used Protect?

But she'd never seen a Protect like this that covered every angle.

Before Erika could snap out of her shock, Mewtwo started spinning the enormous psychic spoon in its hand.

Vroom, vroom.

The spoon spun at high speed, transforming into a massive pinwheel in Mewtwo's hand.

Unlike before, when Mewtwo used it to ward off Magical Leaf, this time, it poured tremendous psychic energy into the spoon.

Ever since Mewtwo had tried out the Psywave Tornado technique developed by Luo Yuan, it had grown rather fond of this move.

Now, once again, the move came into play.

A raging tornado of psychic energy erupted, engulfing everything around it.

Sleep Powder, Petal Dance, and Acid were all swept into the whirlwind.

Erika's Pokémon had to root themselves with Ingrain just to avoid being sucked in.

But sometimes, not being pulled in doesn't mean safety.

Mewtwo swung its spoon, and the Psywave Tornado spiraled toward Venusaur with a piercing roar.

Erika finally snapped back to her senses and shouted urgently:

"Venusaur, Protect!"

It was too late to dodge, so Erika could only hope that Venusaur's Protect would hold against the attack.

Just as the blue energy shield appeared in front of Venusaur…

Pop!

Like a soap bubble bursting, a soft sound echoed, and Erika saw the shield shatter instantly.

The Psywave Tornado uprooted the grounded Venusaur, drawing it into the vortex.

Tossed around like a rag in a washing machine, Venusaur spun madly inside, reliving the experience Gengar had suffered earlier with Agatha.

In fact, Venusaur's situation was even worse.

At least Gengar hadn't been bombarded with Acid and Sleep Powder amidst the psychic storm.

With its Grass and Poison typing, Venusaur couldn't withstand the Psywave Tornado for long, and it soon fainted, hurled by Mewtwo straight into Victreebel.

Victreebel had also used Ingrain earlier, making escape impossible.

It tried to catch Venusaur with its vines, but the combined weight and momentum were too much for Victreebel to handle.

Venusaur broke through the vines, crashing into Victreebel, and both ended up tangled on the ground. Mewtwo then finished them off with a single Shadow Ball.

Erika was left dizzy by this display.

Before she had any chance to react, Mewtwo had casually dispatched both her Victreebel and Venusaur.

A surge of tension washed over Erika. Suddenly, she felt that coming here to confront this Rocket executive had been rash.

But there was no turning back now, the battle was in motion.

Gritting her teeth, Erika readied her next move.

With a bow drawn, she fired two arrows.

One arrow was aimed at Mewtwo, while the other hurtled toward Luo Yuan.

"Targeting the trainer directly? Erika, I never thought you'd stoop to this," Luo Yuan chuckled to himself.

Erika was raised with all the grace and decorum of Celadon City's elite.

Attacking a trainer directly was once inconceivable for someone like her.

Her choice to bypass Mewtwo and go after him only showed just how much pressure he had put on her.

"But… it's pointless."

Seeing the arrows flying through the air, Luo Yuan mentally communicated with Mewtwo.

In an instant, Mewtwo appeared in front of him, evading the attacks from Vileplume and Bellossom while catching both arrows mid-air.

Clink!

The arrows' tips clicked open, releasing two Pokéballs.

Tangrowth and Leafeon immediately joined Bellossom and Vileplume in a four-way attack on Mewtwo.

However, against the power of a legendary Pokémon, it was all in vain.

"Psychic!" Luo Yuan commanded mentally.

A massive surge of psychic energy radiated outwards from Mewtwo, like a tidal wave.

All of Erika's Pokémon were within range, and the weaker Tangrowth collapsed instantly.

The remaining three—Bellossom, Vileplume, and Leafeon—clutched their heads in agony.

"Bellossom, Vileplume, Leafeon, hang in there!"

Erika pleaded desperately.

With a snap of his fingers, Luo Yuan signaled Mewtwo, who ended the fight with a Shadow Ball for each of Erika's remaining Pokémon.

As the smoke cleared and her Pokémon lay defeated, Erika was struck by disbelief.

"Lost…? I… lost!?"

What she had thought was just another skirmish turned out to be a fight against an overwhelmingly powerful foe.

Even when her Bellossom, Victreebel, and Venusaur's coordinated attacks failed to faze Mewtwo, she had hoped to at least hold on until reinforcements arrived.

But she had been defeated—swiftly and utterly.

"Miss Erika!"

The allied trainers behind her gasped in shock at the sight, preparing their own Pokémon to charge forward and help.

But before they could act, Mewtwo raised its hand.

Buzz.

The air rippled with a faint hum as the immense psychic energy surged.

Erika and the trainers saw themselves, along with their Pokémon, begin to levitate under Mewtwo's psychic influence.

Then… swish

The Pokémon and trainers were neatly separated into two piles on the ground, sorted into distinct groups by Mewtwo's telekinesis.
