Air Slash, a technique that creates sharp blades of compressed air through rapid wing flapping, sliced toward its target with deadly precision.

Koga's Crobat was clearly well-practiced in this move.

With a swift aerial roll, Crobat deftly repositioned itself, facing Dragapult head-on.

Its wings beat rapidly.

A flurry of razor-sharp air blades shot toward Dragapult, targeting its most vulnerable spots.

Dragapult's flight speed was exceptional, but by the time Luo Yuan saw the air blades coming, there was no time for Dragapult to dodge.

"If that's the case...Steel Wing! Charge through!"

Now, everyone knows that Dragapult doesn't have wings. So, when it used Steel Wing, its triangular head took on the role, glowing brightly as it charged forward.

The air blades came whirling in.

With a fierce roar, Dragapult fixed its sharp gaze on Crobat, diving straight through.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The air blades struck Dragapult's hardened head, emitting a metallic clash.

In Steel Wing mode, Dragapult's head was at peak defense.

Most of the air blades were either blocked or deflected, with only a few grazing its arms and tail. But Dragapult shook off the hits and plowed forward, crashing directly into Crobat.

Bam!

Crobat spiraled backward from the impact, tumbling through the air before steadying itself with a shaky hover several meters away.

Though it was visibly in pain, Dragapult wore a triumphant smirk, hardly scratched.

"Crobat, are you okay?"

Crobat let out a sharp cry, signaling that it could continue, and shot Dragapult a defiant glare.

Like many Poison-types, especially Crobat, it was naturally vindictive. Crobat was determined to give Dragapult a taste of its own medicine.

Koga nodded, rapidly assessing Dragapult's abilities and developing a new strategy.

But Luo Yuan's tactical thinking was clearly faster.

With Dragapult holding the advantage, all Luo Yuan needed to do was keep up the pressure.

"Dragapult, Shadow Ball!"

A familiar Shadow Ball shot forward, forcing Crobat to dodge, barely avoiding the dark projectile with a quick burst of speed.

The Shadow Ball skimmed past Crobat, impacting the ground below with a boom, leaving a crater in the gym's floor.

The blast startled Crobat, heightening its caution toward Dragapult's attacks.

Realizing he couldn't let Luo Yuan dictate the battle's pace, Koga ordered, "Use Toxic!"

Poison was Koga's specialty.

Over the years, he had meticulously trained his Pokémon with specialized food and exercises to enhance their venom's potency.

Perhaps in other areas, Koga's skills might fall short, but when it came to poison, his confidence was absolute.

Crobat opened its mouth and sprayed a stream of purple venom toward Dragapult.

Luo Yuan didn't command Protect this time—using it repeatedly in a short span risked failure.

But taking a Toxic attack directly would mean a slow, painful drain on Dragapult's health.

The venom shot forward, but Dragapult swiftly sidestepped.

Crobat, undeterred, kept spraying, filling the air with a toxic mist that expanded into a web-like trap.

Seeing Dragapult's escape routes narrowing, Luo Yuan's eyes flashed with blue light. Using his psychic powers, he scanned the positions of the venom droplets and relayed this information to Dragapult, freeing it from the need to look around.

Like a butterfly weaving through flowers, Dragapult performed high-speed evasive maneuvers, slipping through Crobat's poisonous web with ease.

As Crobat paused to recover, Dragapult retaliated with a Shadow Ball, forcing Crobat back into evasive action. This cat-and-mouse chase continued, each side acutely aware of the cost of getting hit.

But Luo Yuan was not entirely pleased.

The Shadow Balls weren't landing.

After some time, realizing Shadow Ball wasn't going to connect easily, Luo Yuan switched tactics and opted for Dragapult's signature move.

"Shadow Ball is too slow! Dragapult, use Dragon Darts!"

While Shadow Ball was quick, its path was predictable.

Experienced Pokémon with sharp instincts could dodge it, but Dragon Darts was a different story!

"Draaag!"

With an excited screech, two Dreepy shot from Dragapult's launchers, whistling through the air as they homed in on Crobat.

A sonic boom echoed as the darts closed in, and Crobat frantically flapped its wings, dodging the initial strike.

But the thing about Dragon Darts? The launched Dreepy had a mind of their own, actively tracking their target.

Crobat dodged the first dart, unaware that it had already turned back toward it.

Just as Crobat aimed another Toxic spray at Dragapult, Koga shouted, "Crobat, watch your back!"

Before Crobat could react, the two Dreepy struck from behind. Though it barely avoided the first dart, the second exploded against it, leaving it spinning in the air.

Crobat crashed to the ground, surrounded by a cloud of smoke and debris.

Inside the smoke, all was silent.

"Did it faint already?"

Luo Yuan doubted it; he didn't think Koga's Crobat would go down so easily from just a Dragon Darts and Steel Wing.

Using his psychic sense, Luo Yuan scanned the smoke to check.

"Hm? As expected, it's still active. Dragapult, get back!"

He quickly warned Dragapult, who had been ready to approach and investigate.

In that moment…

Whoosh!

A battered but furious Crobat burst from the smoke like a missile, baring its venomous fangs as it lunged at Dragapult.

Poison Fang!

A guaranteed hit move—if Luo Yuan hadn't sensed it just in time.

Crrk!

Crobat's fangs snapped shut, barely missing Dragapult's tail as it slipped away.

The Poison Fang missed.

As the price for its failed ambush, Dragapult's tail whipped back around.

Wham!

Crobat was swatted back into the smoke cloud like a ragdoll.

This time, Luo Yuan didn't even need to check; he knew Koga's Crobat was down for good.

Koga: "..."

He was feeling a bit disheartened.

The poison attacks he prided himself on were like a joke against Dragapult's sheer speed, finding no purchase at all.

For a moment, Koga began to question whether his steadfast faith in the poison strategy was truly the right path.
