Question: Dragapult has unleashed Draco Meteor against Deoxys, but Deoxys is restricted by Shadow Tag within a small area. How can Deoxys evade it?
That was exactly the dilemma Deoxys faced now.
Dodge?
Impossible.
Draco Meteor was an area-of-effect move, and with Gengar's Shadow Tag binding its movements, Deoxys couldn't escape the impact zone.
Dragapult's fully-powered Draco Meteor covered an area even larger than Deoxys's limited movement space.
Unless it could keep teleporting continuously to avoid each strike—
But its energy levels were already dangerously low, far too depleted to sustain such demanding maneuvers.
Block?
In Attack Form, all of Deoxys's stats were poured into offensive power and speed, leaving both defenses at a meager 20.
Trying to tank Draco Meteor with such frail defenses…
Deoxys would rather face Rayquaza again. At least that would be a quicker end.
So, with Draco Meteor bearing down, Deoxys made the only choice it had left: to change forms.
Swish—!
In an instant, Deoxys reappeared in its Defense Form.
This was its third form switch since entering the battle.
Draco Meteor blazed down from the sky in golden arcs, slamming into Deoxys, which had fortified itself with Iron Defense and Light Screen.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Each explosion echoed across the island. Even though Luo Yuan and Sabrina had moved some distance away, the raw power of the attack rippled through the air.
Deoxys's damaged core made form-switching extremely taxing, draining its stamina with each change.
Three transformations in a row had severely weakened Deoxys's aura, nearly depleting its remaining energy.
Now, meteor after meteor rained down on Deoxys.
Even as it poured its psychic power into maintaining Light Screen, cracks began to spiderweb across the barrier.
Crrrack…
The strain was too great; the cracks grew wider with every impact.
Finally, one more Draco Meteor struck, and the Light Screen shattered with a deafening crash.
Fragments scattered as the blast wave rattled Deoxys.
"The barrier broke!" Sabrina said, exhilarated.
"Yeah…" Luo Yuan nodded, his gaze fixed on Deoxys.
Yet Deoxys remained unflustered.
Facing the last of the falling meteors, it activated Protect, conjuring a blue barrier in front of itself.
Boom!
A thunderous blast rang out.
Protect held strong, deflecting one of the meteors.
Next, Deoxys used Psychic to dismantle another meteor in midair, shattering it into fragments.
The debris struck Deoxys's Iron Defense-bolstered body, inflicting minimal damage.
Only one meteor remained.
Having just exhausted its Psychic power, Deoxys had no energy left for defense.
So, with its options gone, Deoxys crossed its band-like arms over its core.
"Brace yourself!"
It prepared to endure.
Crash!
The meteor struck Deoxys directly.
It was swallowed by the explosion and a cloud of dust.
As the smoke cleared, Gengar emerged from the shadows while Dragapult circled above, observing the battlefield.
"What's the status?" Sabrina asked anxiously, unable to sense Deoxys's aura due to the residual Dragon Pulse energy in the air.
"Dragonair, clear the smoke!" Luo Yuan commanded.
He wanted to confirm Deoxys's condition.
Dragonair's pearl glowed, summoning a light breeze to disperse the dust.
Just then, a figure shot out from the clearing smoke.
"Look out!" Luo Yuan called to Dragapult.
But it was too late.
Still in Defense Form, Deoxys had used Zen Headbutt, and with a burst of psychic energy, it sped forward with startling agility, ramming into Dragapult.
"Roar—!"
Dragapult cried out in pain, clearly taking substantial damage.
But Dragapult didn't back down.
Though it acted docile with Luo Yuan, in the face of an enemy, Dragapult showed its fierce side.
Unbothered by its injuries, it forced itself forward, clenching its teeth and charging right back at Deoxys.
Dragapult was confident that, after enduring Draco Meteor, Deoxys wouldn't be unscathed either.
Its tail gleamed with a powerful aura as Dragapult unleashed Dragon Tail, striking Deoxys squarely.
Bam!
Hit by the Dragon Tail, Deoxys crashed into the ground, creating a crater.
"Is it over?" Sabrina asked.
Thud
A band-like arm gripped the edge of the crater, Deoxys's core pulsing faintly as it struggled to rise.
"It's… still standing?" Sabrina was astounded.
Deoxys's resilience was beyond anything she'd ever seen.
Luo Yuan, too, was impressed.
If Deoxys hadn't been in an injured state, it might have been him taking the beating.
But that wasn't the reality today.
"It's enough!"
Deoxys was barely able to move, its energy completely drained and its fighting spirit all but extinguished.
Without further hesitation, Luo Yuan threw the Master Ball he'd prepared.
Thunk!
Guided by his psychic energy, the Master Ball struck Deoxys dead-on.
Swish
Deoxys transformed into a beam of light and was absorbed into the Master Ball.
The capture was instant.
No resistance. No shaking.
The Master Ball locked with a quiet finality.
Gengar eagerly picked up the Master Ball and handed it to Luo Yuan.
Calling down Dragapult, Luo Yuan applied healing ointment to its wounds, using his Viridian power to soothe Dragapult's pain.
Then, under the cautious gazes of Sabrina, Gengar, and Dragapult, he opened the Master Ball, releasing Deoxys back onto the field.
Pop!
Deoxys, still in Defense Form and visibly exhausted, stood before Luo Yuan.
"Hello, Deoxys. Let's work well together from now on."
Luo Yuan extended his hand in greeting.
Deoxys's core glowed faintly, and under Sabrina's wary watch, it lifted its arm and placed it against Luo Yuan's hand.
A wave of thought from Deoxys flowed into Luo Yuan's mind:
"Hello. I look forward to it."
