Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: Stealing Data

The young woman was a bit hesitant. However, as long as she supervised Cain while he operated the computer, she saw no reason not to allow it.

Usually, her grandparents allowed a few close trainers to use their computers, since there was confidential data that could only be accessed with a password.

What also piqued her interest was the case Cain mentioned, one she hadn't come across before. As an expert in Pokémon breeding, unknown knowledge always sparked her curiosity.

Moreover, the young man in front of her, with his "honest" appearance, didn't seem like a bad person. Additionally, his Slowpoke seemed well cared for, indicating Cain was a trainer with a good level of knowledge.

"Well, first I'll need to register your Alliance ID card, and then you can use the computer under my supervision," the young woman said after a moment's reflection.

In the end, she couldn't resist the temptation of knowledge, revealing her scholarly side.

Cain gave an "innocent" smile and nodded gratefully:

"Alright, thank you very much!"

Following the young woman, they arrived at a study room at the back of the breeding center. Inside, there were several shelves full of books. Some were old and yellowed, while others were newer.

There were titles like Study of Pokémon Eggs, Incubation Techniques, Fundamentals of Pokémon Breeding...

Each shelf had labels indicating the theme of the books in that section.

In a corner of the study, there was a computer, spotless, showing it was frequently used.

The young woman sat in front of the computer, skillfully turned it on, entered the password, and opened the database.

Evidently, the person who used this computer the most was this young scholar before Cain.

Once everything was ready, the young woman stood up and indicated that Cain could start using it.

Cain nodded politely and sat in front of the computer, deliberately searching for information.

As someone knowledgeable in Pokémon breeding, Cain knew exactly which terms to look for, which made the young woman see him with new respect.

What the young woman didn't know was that, while Cain operated the computer, another operation was happening in secret.

"System, start analyzing the information on this computer," Cain ordered mentally.

In his previous life, when he input data into the system, he did so in this manner. However, the system had a limitation: it couldn't access databases through the network. Only when Cain physically touched the computer could the system infiltrate the database through the body's micro-electric currents, leaving no trace.

"Beep! Task started. Estimated time: 10 minutes. Beginning transfer..."

Ten minutes later...

"Task completed!"

Cain stood up and said:

"I didn't find anything useful, but thank you anyway. Here's my Alliance ID card; please register me."

The scholarly young woman was also disappointed. Not finding the knowledge she was missing left her with an empty feeling. Nevertheless, she took Cain's ID card and registered his details in the reception computer.

"I think you're quite a capable breeder. Even if you haven't found the right incubation method, don't be discouraged. Would you like to exchange contacts? I can ask my grandparents tonight, and if you find the solution, please let me know. I'd be willing to exchange information with you on an equal basis," said the young woman, handing Cain's ID card back to him.

"Agreed. By the way, how much should I pay? You can deduct it directly from this bank card," Cain forced a smile.

"No need. I'm more interested in the Pokémon egg you mentioned," the young woman replied, declining Cain's offer of payment.

For her, money wasn't the most important thing. Otherwise, with her teaching ability, she could have earned much more.

"That Pokémon egg... I only heard about it from a friend. I haven't seen it personally, but I'm interested in learning more about this subject."

Hearing she couldn't see the egg, the young woman showed a look of great disappointment. However, the fact that Cain was interested in knowledge made her eyes shine with excitement, as if she had found a kindred spirit.

With a look of "deep regret" from the scholarly young woman, Cain quickly took his leave from the breeding center. After leaving, he couldn't help but wipe the sweat from his forehead. Talking with these scholars was as exhausting as a difficult exam. The more he tried, the more enthusiastic they became, and eventually, Cain had to find an excuse to escape.

As he left, the young woman reminded him to let her know if he found the answer.

However, regardless of everything, Cain had achieved his goal. He had obtained the data from this breeding center's database. Fortunately, the expert grandparents weren't there; otherwise, with their experience, it wouldn't have been so easy.

"System, compare the database and find a solution for the Larvitar egg," Cain ordered after leaving the breeding center.

"Beep! Task started. Beginning analysis. Estimated time: 3 days. Remaining: 2 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, 30 seconds."

The system could only compare the database information and then simulate possible solutions. Even so, the effectiveness of the solutions could only be determined through trial and error.

Even after comparing the database, the system might not find a definitive solution. But in the current situation, Cain had no choice but to wait.

Additionally, even if Cain managed to hatch the pseudo-legendary Larvitar, it might not be of much help immediately and, in fact, could become a burden.

After all, raising a pseudo-legendary required an astronomical amount of resources, and in its early developmental stages, pseudo-legendary Pokémon weren't as useful as other common Pokémon.

Even if Cain knew how to hatch the Larvitar egg, he wouldn't opt to do it unless he could provide the necessary resources for its development.

What he needed to do now was continue strengthening his Pokémon team and prepare for Umbra's missions and, more importantly, Team Rocket's final trials.

For now, Cain was temporarily away from Team Rocket's Test Island, which was already an exception. Before the trials ended, Cain still needed to return to the island to complete the final tests. If everything went well, he might have a great opportunity, but if he failed, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Moreover, Cain clearly remembered what Umbra had told him before leaving the island: this trial would be different. Observing carefully during the last evaluation, Cain had noticed some peculiarities.

In short, what he needed to do now was improve his strength as quickly as possible.
