It's a busy morning at the office, and Beth is swamped with work. She's been putting in long hours and hasn't had much time for anything else.
Suddenly, there's a knock on her door. She looks up from her computer, and there's a man standing in the doorway.
He's tall, with dark hair and bright blue eyes. He's wearing a suit, and he looks a little nervous. "Hi," he says, "I'm Glenn. I'm the new guy."
Beth smiles at him and stands up to shake his hand. "Hi Glenn," she says. "It's nice to meet you.
Are you settling in okay?" "I'm doing okay," he says. "But I have to admit, I'm a little lost."
Beth laughs. "I hear that's normal. What do you need help with?" "Well, I'm having trouble figuring out the filing system," he says.
Oh, I can help with that," she says. "Why don't you come and sit down?" She gestures to the chair across from her desk, and he sits down.
So, the filing system is actually pretty simple," she begins. "Let me show you how it works." And so begins their friendship
As Beth shows Glenn how the filing system works, they begin to chat and get to know each other. He's a little shy at first, but she puts him at ease with her friendly and easygoing manner
They find they have a lot in common, and they quickly become fast friends. As the weeks go by, they start to spend more and more time together, both at work and outside of work.
But something is brewing beneath the surface.
As time goes on, Beth starts to notice that she's developing feelings for Glenn. She tries to push these feelings down, but they keep bubbling up to the surface.
Every time they're together, she feels a little flutter in her stomach. One day, they're having lunch together in the break room, and they're laughing and joking around.
He's telling a story, and she's hanging on every word. Suddenly, she realizes that she's fallen for him. In that moment, she makes a decision.
She's going to tell him how she feels. She takes a deep breath and starts to speak.
"Glenn," she says, "there's something I need to tell you." He looks at her, a little confused. "What is it?" he asks. She takes a deep breath. "I like you," she says.
I like you a lot." His eyes widen, and he looks a little shocked. "You do?" he asks. She nods. "I've been trying to deny it, but I can't anymore," she says. "I have feelings for you."
He looks at her, and a slow smile spreads across his face. "I have feelings for you too," he says.
I didn't know if you felt the same way, so I didn't want to say anything." She smiles back at him, feeling a rush of relief
"I'm glad you told me," she says. "I was afraid to say anything, too." They sit there in silence for a moment, just looking at each other.
Finally, he reaches out and takes her hand in his. "Can I take you out for dinner?" he asks. She nods, a shy smile on her face. "I'd like that." And so it begins - a beautiful, new relationship, borne out of friendship and understanding.
As the months go by, Beth and Glenn's relationship blossoms. They spend all their free time together, and their love for each other grows stronger every day. Then, one day, as they're walking in the park, he stops and turns to her. "Beth," he says, "there's something I need to ask you." She looks at him, a little nervous. "What is it?" she asks. He takes a deep breath. "Beth," he says, "will you marry me?" She feels her heart skip a beat, and she can't believe what she's hearing.
Are you sure you're ready for that?" she asks. He nods. "I'm completely sure," he says. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life."
She takes a moment to think. Then, she smiles. "Yes," she says. "I'll marry you." He smiles back at her, and he takes her in his arms.
They stand there, lost in their happiness, as the sun sets over the park. And they know that this is the beginning of something wonderful - a life together, filled with love and happiness.
