Chapter 1: The sun doesn't shine for me
''Who wants some good berry! They are free just for today.!'' A merchant screamed to a crowd who all proceeded to look at him. A bunch of kids immediately run toward him, all of them raising their umbrellas, covering them from the rays of sunlight.
''Is it true mister Robert?''
''Haha, please kid, take as much as you want, I won't need it when we leave the Sanctuary. I might as well give them away, or else they will just rot in my house.'' A devious smirk appears on his face. ''Or worst, the Bringer of the Eclipse will use them as a sacrifice to summon you back here to eat you instead!''
''AAAAH!'' The children all screamed in terror as they hid under the umbrella of their mom.
''Ah, please don't joke about this. You know how much he scares our children.''
''Excuse me, but I just couldn't resist. Here, take some berries as an apology.'' The merchant says with a smile that proves he was clearly not feeling sorry for his prank. But they only sighed as their kids were happy again to receive some berry too.
''Here a berry for you too.'' The man says with a smile, handing me over berry to a small boy wearing a white hood.
The child looked shocked to receive the fruit and looked at the merchant in shock. ''Eh?''
The merchant was about to give another berry to another child before stopping in his track. He looked back at the child and saw that he had extremely pale skin, and the fact that he was so skinny didn't help him. He was wearing a white kimono that covered his whole body, but it was obviously handmade as there were multiple traces of patchwork. But that was not what attracted the most attention, no, it was the white blindfold covering both of his eyes.
''Where is your umbrella?'' A kid asked just beside the boy in confusion. This comment made a lot of head turning toward him, all of them inspecting him with confusion.
The merchant was the first to detour his eye to look beside the young boy, and as he expected, another being was there. It was a small pokemon wearing a costume that covered it whole body. His head looked like a pikachu but made by a child. Its eyes were simply black dots drawn as a spiral, he had a zigzag as a smile and as orange checks at his side. The lower part of his body was rather plain, with only two small holes in its front. But it was the only part that was full, as some black tendril left the costume, proving that something was inside of it. And behind him was a wooden tail that looked exactly like a Pikachu tail.
This sight made the merchant freeze as he looked back at the child with a mixture of shock and fear. But the child regained his mind first and launched himself at the reserve of berry and took the most he could before running away.
But he wasn't able to escape in time, as the merchant caught his hood, revealing pristine white air. The child looked back with a tearful eye but still decided to keep running, which resulted in his hood ripping in half, revealing his skin to the sun, which immediately started to redden.
''IT'S THE BRINGER OF ECLIPSE!!!'' The merchant yelled at the top of his lungs.
The scream was enough to wake up the crowd, and a second later, the whole street was in panic.
''AAAAH!!! MOMMY!'' ''Quick, everyone escapes!'' ''He will eat us!'' ''He wants to devour our soul!'' ''Stay behind me!'' ''Quick! Catch him!'' ''We can't let him escape!'' ''SAVE ME!!!'' ''He touched me! He touched me! Will I die!? I will die! I don't want to die!''
But the forsaken progeny ignored their scream in favor of escaping into a dark alley with all the berries he was able to collect in his hand. His Pokemon followed him as he immediately jumped on his shoulder. The crowd could only look with regret at the Bringer of Eclipse as he escaped from them. But no one dared to pursue him.
''I hope he dies soon, this abomination will only bring more suffering to this world.'' Another child from the Sanctuary couldn't help but mutter under his breath. But others still heard it, but instead of being horrified by the threat a child said, they celebrated.
''You don't have to worry my child, now that we are leaving the sanctuary, the wild pokemon won't fear the town anymore. And they will all here and destroy it, the Bringer of Eclipse included.''
''And even if he somewhat survives that, I heard that the government official would be destroying the town too! He won't be able to survive!''
''Oh thanks, you lord for finally giving what this heretic deserves!'' Someone said by putting away their umbrella, letting themself being fully exposed to the sun, before kneeling to the ground and starting to pray.
The other also copied her, as they let themselves be shined down by the sun, their faith only growing stronger.
''Thanks the lord!''
''Thanks the sun!''
''Hate the one who forgo light!''
''And praise the one who brings it!''
''Hate the one who blinded us!''
''And praise the one who blinded him.''
''Thanks the lord!''
''Thanks the sun!''
***
''Humf, did I...Humf...escape them?''
After a quick look, I was able to confirm that no one caught up to me. I was able to push a sigh of relief while sitting down. It may dirty my kimono, but I don't think I have the force to stand up anymore.
It was as dark in the alley, as usual, it was the only place in the sanctuary where the sun did not shine. A perfect place for a heretic like me.
I looked at my arm and saw the multiple berries I was able to get today. Usually, I wouldn't steal them, but he did say they were free, so it not stealing!
''Pandora! Enjoy yourself.'' I couldn't help but smile while Pandora left my shoulder to look more closely at the berries. I managed to collect seven of them, so it was a great catch.
''Kyu!'' Pandora grabbed one of the berries with a black tendril that appeared from under his body.
I only smiled as I collected the rest of the berries to put them into my bag.
''Kyu?'' Pandora cried in surprise as he stopped his tendril from moving toward him.
''What am I doing? I'm stocking these berries for later. I hear that the blessed were leaving the Sanctuary today, so we won't be able to buy food from them anymore.'' I explained while continuing to put the fruit in the bag.
Pandora looked one last time at his berry before putting it back inside the bag
''Eh? You don't need to put it back Pandora, I know you're hungry!''
''Kyu.''
''What do you mean you're not hungry!? I know very well you are! Don't lie to me!''
''Mi kyu mi!''
''...I'm not a liar.''
''Kyu!''
''...well...it true that I'm a little hungry, but I don't see how it matters here. You're the one the hungriest here!''
''Kyu!''
''...please Pandora...''
''...kyu...''
''...I will eat one and you will eat yours, how about that?''
''Mi!''
Ah, I'm sure I could survive another day without eating, there really is no need to eat today.
But despite thinking that, I still took two berries out of the bag. I gave the bigger one I found to Pandora and kept the smaller one for myself. I could see the one I took was already starting to get old, there was even mold on it. Maybe it was a good thing I ate today, maybe tomorrow this berry would have gotten smaller.
''Kyu.'' Strangely, Pandora still sounded exasperate.
''Do you want more? I can give you another berries if you want.''
''Mi kyu!''
''No? Oh, maybe you don't like your Japapa berry? I think there is a Mago berry in the bag.'' I dropped my berries in favor of looking for the fruit.
''Kyu!''
''Eh? Oh, okay?''
If you're fine with your berry, then what was the problem?
But I keep those thoughts to myself, I don't even dare to think what he would do to me if I dared to say it out loud.
I directed my berry toward my mouth and started to chew it. It was a chesto berry and they were usually very hard to chew. Plus I found them to taste bad. But this one was old enough to be soft, so I didn't break my teeth eating it.
The problem was that it tasted even nastier than usual, it tasted the same as a block of clay...actually no, the clay was a little worse, because at least the berry had some juice in it.
Stop thinking about it! The last thing you want is to throw up my meal! There was already almost nothing left in my stomach, and they will probably leave nothing for me now that they are leaving...
And that I will be left alone...
''Pandora...do you think everything will be fine.''
Pandora looked at me with shock, almost dropping his berry down.
''Kyu?''
''They're leaving...we barely have five berries left, and no one will protect the town from the wild pokemon...'' A tear fell from my blindfold, as usual, it was a tear of blood. ''Maybe it would be for the better if I die...''
''KYU!!!'' Before I had the chance to say more, Pandora interrupted me and formed multiple dark tendrils that formed two separate claws that rapidly approached me.
Will he kill me now?...I understand I would only be a liability to him, I was already selfish enough to keep him with me for so long when he could be free.
I already owe him my life, it is his right to take it back.
But I hoped I could be selfish a little while longer...
I stopped our connection, and as usual, I couldn't see anything. My blindness was usually nullified by my sharing the vision of Pandora, but right now, I would prefer that my last memory wouldn't be of myself.
The dark was still a prettier sight than me.
I felt a contact on my head shortly after, at least I knew it would be quick.
But instead of the pain I was expecting, I only received a delicate sensation on my head as it slowly moved across my hair.
I still waited for some instant to see if any sharp pain would come, but nothing happened. Only my head getting caressed.
It was only at this moment that I dared to reconnect with Pandora, and it was simply the sight of him using his two claws to caress my head.
''What?''
''Mi kyu mu?''
''Eh? Yeah...it fell good...but why are you doing this?''
''Kyu!''
''To make me feel better?''
''Kyuy.'' Pandora cried in a happy tone, but suddenly, the pressure augmented on my head. ''Myu?!''
''Wait Pandora! The reason why I cut our connection was because I didn't want to see myself dying.''
The pressure on my head diminished a little, so I thought I was safe until the pressure increased even more. ''MI MI KYU!!!''
''Ah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I just thought you wanted to kill me painlessly because there was no way for me to...''
I still didn't have the chance to finish my sentence as Pandora only pressed his hand harder on my head. I tried to justify myself, but he never stopped, so I just stopped talking and waited for my punishment to be over.
But weirdly, Pandora stopped immediately the moment I did that.
''Kyu!''
"Eh? I'm alright Pandora.'' Strangely, Pandora started to worry about my well-being after it. I really can't understand why, I deserved that punishment, why would he be worried if it hurt me?
But he still approached me and continued to pat my head, but this time it was way faster than before.
But I still liked the feeling, so I let him headpat me until he eventually slowed down.
''Thank you Pandora. I feel better now.''
''Kyu!'' Pandora looked proud of himself before he looked back at his berry.
This time, he didn't stop it from coming toward him, and the berry disappeared under his costume. Second after, chomping noise reasoned under him.
"Did you like your meal?''
''Myu.''
''Nice, now you know wh...
I suddenly felt a child behind my back, but before I could reach it someone murmured right into my ear.
''So there was somebody here, how joyous! I didn't waste my time after all.''
I looked toward where I heard the voice, but I saw nothing. I only reacted on reflex.
I only saw who said it when Pandora also looked toward it. And instantly, I felt an unexplained amount of dread.
It was, to put simply, a smile. A wicked smile with a green hue. Surrounding him was a purple flame that constantly rotated around his body with fifteen green orbs staying static.
It was observing us in glee, but it didn't move from where he stood.
I took this opportunity to grab Pandora in my arm before quickly running away deeper into the alley.
I looked at Pandora in my arm while I was running the fastest I could. The moment he saw the wicked smile, he immediately froze in terror.
And if even Pandora is terrified, it can only mean that this pokemon is truly dangerous.
I looked behind me to see if the pokemon was running toward me. But to my confusion, he wasn't.
I stopped to observe my surroundings, and I still didn't find anything. But I still decided to r...
''It is very impolite to run away from someone who wants to capture you. Your mother never taught you this?'' The sinful voice whispered right into my ear.
I turn back in fear just to see the smile behind me.
''Now, I wouldn't want you to escape again, so what about you sleep a little.'' He pronounced before his eye turned pink and a pink hue enveloped me.
''Alright, now just stay there until my master ar...
I didn't know what he did to me, but I don't think it worked. So I immediately turned back to escape from him.
He must be dangerous, I need to...
''Now how did you do that?''
''Ah!''
How!? I was sure there was nothing in front of me! How is he that fast!?''
I tried to turn away again, but this time, he didn't let me go as I wished, and he threw a dark ball right at my leg.
''ARGH!'' I couldn't hold the scream and barely had the time to launch Pandora out of the way before hitting my face against the ground. I tried to move my leg, but not only was I unable to, it caused me an incredibly high amount of pain simply trying.
''OOOOOH, I just love that sound! Can you do it again?'' He says while preparing a new dark ball.
But before he could throw it, a cry interrupted him.
''KYU!'' At this moment, Pandora was able to regain his spirit and formed a shadow claw that immediately approached the smile pokemon.
''Eh?'' He barely had the time to react when the claw cut his face in three.
Pandora didn't bother looking at the condition of his opponent as it immediately run toward Luciel to look at me.
There I saw it, my left leg was completely covered in blood with some bone leaving my skin. It wasn't my first time being injured like this, but It still hurt a lot as I let a stifled cry.
''Kyu!'' Pandora was starting to panic as it looked around trying to find something to stop the bleeding.
''I...my bag...tissue...'' I was barely able to mutter it, but at least Pandora was able to hear it and immediately looked inside my little bag. But before he had the chance to find a tissue to stop my bleeding, a shadow ball hit him directly in the face, sending him straight into a wall and destroying it.
My vision instantly obscured, but before I had the chance to panic, I was able to see again as Pandora rose from the rubble of the wall.
''How dare you!? I only wanted to torture you a little, and that's how you react?'' The smile said in a very angry voice. Despite just being torn in three, he still looked perfectly fine, except that one of his green orbs was now grey instead.
''Kekeke!'' The pokemon started Eight dark balls were formed just in front of him, and then they rapidly started to spin around his body.
Pandora replied by forming more shadow claws from under his costume, forming a number of ten.
''Kekeke!''
That was the only signal the smile gave before throwing his shadow ball at an impressive speed toward Pandora. But what was even more impressive was that Pandora was able to deviate from all of them by sacrificing one of his arms, but it resulted in the surrounding wall exploding, sending a cloud of smoke around.
The smile frowned at the action and started to look intensively at the cloud.
He was right to do so because two claws rushed straight toward him.
He dodged the first claw by jumping backward and he prepared a shadow ball to blow it up at the same time.
Instead of celebrating this small victory, he immediately prepared another one to protect himself from the second claw. However, he couldn't see it coming.
The smile was confused about where it was gone, but at the same time, the smoke dissipated letting place of Pandora trying to run away, with me in his claw.
The first claw was nothing more than a diversion to hide Pandora real objective, me. When the smile was too occupied by the claw he sent him, Pandora already took me in his second arm and immediately tried to run away.
''Oh? But we've already played this game.'' The smile didn't stop his assault as he sent his shadow ball directly toward me, which forced Pandora to let me down to use his claw to throw away the attack.
Another explosion ensued, sadly the smoke wasn't as dense as before, so he didn't lose track of us.
''You know, if you just stand still, it will only hurt until you die.''
''MIMIKYU!!!''
''You're right like I would let you die this easily!''
The smile formed another set of dark balls, but instead of rotating them, he immediately started to gather them together until they formed one tiny ball.
One so tiny that I was barely even able to see, but I knew that this tiny little ball was extremely dangerous. And if I could deduce it, so could Pandora.
Pandora prepared his own attack as two giant claws formed beside him, contrary to his previous one, these claws seemed more defined.
But just before they had the chance to attack, something fell right between them.
*slam*
Something splashed right into my face.
What just happened?
Pandora didn't have the time to see what happened as the moment the object hit the ground, a red liquid immediately blinded us.
I ramped toward Pandora and tried to clean whatever covered the eye of my friend.
It surprisingly came out easily, now let's see what was...
*Blergh*
I wasn't able to keep to the content of my dinner in my stomach.
I knew I shouldn't have eaten today.
I was barely able to keep our connection with Pandora, but it still forced me to see this gruesome sight in front of me.
I was able to discover that the thing that fallen from the sky, wasn't a thing, but a man.
Well, more like what remains of the corpse, as its body part was scattered all around the wall.
''Kukuku!'' Me and Pandora immediately put our attention toward the smile as he was laughing at the sight.
At least it seems he stopped his assault as it only focused on mocking the fate of the man.
That was what I thought until I saw the blood slowly converging toward the impact zone. The same happened with the flesh and organs as they slowly assembled themselves, generating a cloud of mist at the same tie.
I was confused about what happened, but I only became even more confused as I saw a figure slowly rising out of the mist.
''It seems I miscalculated the height.'' Casually say the silhouette as if nothing happens. The mist dissipated itself and there I was able to see him perfectly.
It was a man who possessed lustrous blond hair that was tied up as a bum behind his head. He was wearing a deep blue coat that was the same color as his eye. There was also a yellow puffy cup around the sleeve and the collar end. On him was also an apron mostly composed of white with the exception of the yellow outline and the center with a pokéball design was installed.
I found it strange that his clothes were in perfect condition, not even a trace of blood covering him. It was the same for the wall, all traces that someone had died completely disappeared.
Only he stayed.
I should be happy, all that gross stuff disappears...
Yet, I think it was better than my current sight, his simple presence filled me with disgust and horror. As if his simple existence was a crime against existence itself!
He throws me a single look filled with disinterest as if the energy utilized to simply throw his gaze toward me was a waste of energy.
...I was used to this gaze.
So I reacted the same way, I kept my head down, not even daring to meet his gaze for a single instant more.
I also try to kneel, but the moment I try to do so, my leg makes me remember in what state it was in and makes me push a scream of pain. I crumble down right after.
He frowned at my reaction and started to walk toward me, completely ignoring Pandora who didn't have the courage to move.
I was not able to see him anymore, only the smile was in Pandora vision who only seemed happier. But I still heard his footsteps toward me. ''I'm sorry.''
I try to create distance between myself and him. But I still heard his footsteps. ''I'm sorry!'' I immediately covered my lips after screaming this, they always hate it when I scream.
''I'm sorry.'' This was my last attempt, but I knew it would be fruitless as I raised my arm to block his strike. They usually like it when I struggle, maybe if he's happy enough, he will let Pandora leave.
''Why are you apologizing.'' In front of me. I heard him right in front of me. He didn't hit me yet...he's he going to torment me first? Or is he the kind to give me hope first before hitting me?
''I'm sorry.''
''I just asked why you were sorry?''
''...because I screamed at you.''
''Everyone does. And at least you have the excuse to have your leg broken, and I'm pretty sure that's the fault of Spiritomb. So just stop talking.''
Spiritomb? Is that the name of the Smile Pokemon?
''Oh please master, I only wanted to do my duty to the best of my ability! You wanted me to find out if any habitants were still there, and then stop them! And that's what I did, you've never specified that I couldn't throw them a shadow ball to break his leg.''
''Yes, yes I did! I specifically say to you to stop anyone who ran away with hypnosis! Not shadow ball!''
Does...does he not care about me?
I looked toward the direction of where Pandora should be, before silently ramping toward him.
''Well I did use hypnosis, but it didn't work, so I used a shadow ball instead, and this clearly worked! So where is the problem?''
''The problem is that you've broken the leg of a child I was supposed to rescue!''
''I don't see where the problem is, it can easily heal. Plus, do you think you're better?''
''Oh please enlighten me mister who takes a break a leg too seriously!"
"Well, mister I'm going to transform into a flesh pancake in front of a child, tell in what way you're better than me?''
He probably said more, but I stopped listening to them, I only focused on ramping toward Pandora.
The two demons didn't even seem to notice me, or maybe they simply didn't care. The only thing that tried to stop me was my own pain, but I ignored it.
I was able to reach Pandora, but the moment I touched him, I felt a gaze posed on me. I turned around with Pandora in my arms, so I was able to see the monster in human flesh again. He didn't have the same glare as before, but I still felt his complete disinterest in me.
''Oh, you just wanted to hold your plushie! You should have just told me, I would have given it to you." He said with a calming smile, but the previous impression couldn't leave my mind. He noticed that and simply scowled. "Alright, I can see that you don't trust me, but don't worry, just stand there and I will send someone to help you.'' He said while turning back toward Spiritomb.
"...I will not move...but please...don't hurt Pandora in exchange...''
The man stopped walking and looked back at me in confusion. ''Who's Pandora?'' He looked at my face. ''Your plushie? Why would I want to hurt your plushie?''
''That not a plushie master,'' Spiritomb say while snickering. ''That a pokemon, one that we are especially familiar with.''
I sensed that Pandora trembled even more in my arm, so I covered him to best I could.
But the guy looked deeply at me, this time in a more pensive state. He looked back at Spiritomb who seemed to enjoy his master's confusion. ''You lost one of your sphere...''
This comment made the pokemon immediately stop laughing. But his master didn't take mind of it. ''There not a lot of existence who can harm you this much, especially not there...except if...'' The man's eye seemed to glim as he looked at Pandora with newfound interest. ''Except if this little plush is the Forsaken Sin.''
The man completely lost his air of disinterest and approached me with a wide smile.
Oh no! He wants Pandora!
I looked at him and saw that he was still trembling in my arm, he was in no position to run away.
The man was already reaching toward Pandora, I could only try to block his hand the best I could by covering Pandora with my back.
His hand slowly descended on me.
*Slash*
Then fresh blood covered me again.
The man looked at his hand with confusion, or it would be better to say he looked where his hand was supposed to be.
He looked down, only to see his hand lying on the floor.
''...k...y...u.'' Pandora pushed an extremely quiet roar, but it was evident he was still extremely scared of him despite just cutting his hand.
The man looked coldly at Pandora, but only stood down to pick up his hand. He approached it to his arm and all of his blood in the surrounding immediately started to flow toward him and immediately connected to his wound.
In an instant, his cut hand was immediately regenerated. ''You know, despite that I'm able to heal from anything, it doesn't mean I don't feel it.''
He was probably telling the truth, but I never any trace of pain at all during his accident.
''Now, why did you attack me?'' He asked coldly to Pandora, but he was unable to respond because of how scared he was.
''It's because he thought you were going to hurt his master.'' Spiritomb intervened, recovering his joy after seeing his master hurt.
''Master?'' He looked at me while tilting his head. ''This little brat is his master?''
"Friend."
''Eh?''
''Pandora is my friend.'' I looked at the man defiantly, before immediately lowering my head in fear.
I...I don't know why I say that...he will probably get angry now...maybe if he focuses his anger on me, it will allow Pandora to escape.
''What's your name?"
Why does he want to know my name? Do I even have one? I don't remember...
''What? What do you think I could do with your name? Curse you?'' He said mockingly.
...right...I almost forget...
''Luciel...''
''Luciel? It's a strange name.''
''It means Cursed in Danuan.''
''The Danuan created a new language?'' He asked in confusion.
"...He tries."
''He?'' He wondered before immediately having a flash of understanding and starting to look at me with more interest. ''Let me guess, your full name is Luciel Solarium?''
"No...I was never permitted to have this name."
The man simply hunched his shoulder. ''Oh, then will it be alright if I call you by your other name, Bringer of Eclipse?''
He knows...but at least he seems to have forgotten about Pandora.
I raised my head and fixed him. "You can choose my identity, it doesn't belong to me."
I waited for an answer, a mockery, or even a hit, but I received nothing. I looked back at his expression, and to my surprise, he looked at me with horror.
Oh, right, I forgot people are usually afraid of me. However, I didn't expect him to be scared of me.
"You've ruined the mood.''
''Oh...euh...I'm sorry."
"You better be! Here I was having fun until this stick disguised as a woman asked me to verify if there was any human left in this forsaken alley!'' He lamented while putting his hand on his face. ''Apparently, I was the only one who could deal with the Bringer of Eclipse! So I recomforted myself that he could be fun to torment, but not only is this Bringer of Eclipse a child, he is also someone who doesn't even attempt to defy me!''
Did...did I do something wrong?
I was confused as to why he lamented so much, it should already been the time when he punched me. Is he okay? Maybe his hand still hurt after being cut?
"You know what, if this stick insisted so much that I help any survivor, then she will be the one to take care of you.'' He said while looking at me.
This time I knew he would put to work his threat. So I immediately launched Pandora far beyond me. I didn't see the man, but I still knew where he was, so I launched at him trying to take hold of his leg. ''PANDORA!!! Run away, I will hold him down.''
I tried my best to hold him the hardest I could, I even prepared for him to hit me. But nothing came, the only the man did was to show his shocked expression while looking at me...
...wait, how am I able to see him?
''PANDORA! Run!"
But Pandora didn't listen to me as he rapidly approached the man with his claw prepared. But before he even had the chance to attack him, something collided right on his side.
I barely had the chance to see Spiritomb looking at me with ridicule before the color black invaded my mind.
