Chapter 1 - Traveling through Hongtian Street

This is a world where humans and spirits coexist. Currently, two realms are known: the Human Realm and the Netherworld. The Netherworld is further divided into the Soul Domain and Spirit Town Street. The Soul Domain is the ultimate destination for the dead, where souls go to reincarnate after death.

For thousands of years, due to ongoing wars in the Human Realm, more and more souls have flooded the Soul Domain, causing overcrowding in the reincarnation process. To address this, the Soul Warden of the Netherworld established Spirit Town Street, where souls wait for rituals to pass on before entering the Soul Domain in an orderly manner. However, during this seemingly endless wait, some souls develop malevolent intentions. This dark energy turns them into vengeful spirits, threatening the safety of both the Human Realm and the Netherworld.

To manage these rogue spirits, the Soul Warden appointed Spirit Wardens specifically for Spirit Town Street. At this moment, on a dark and desolate street in the Netherworld, a group of humanoid monsters resembling ghosts roams about. Clad in ancient armor, their eyes glow red, and they wield cold weapons. These creatures are vengeful spirits.

"Quick! Keep searching! The Spirit Warden of this street has already been gravely injured by me. They can't have gone far!" commanded the vengeful spirit general to his subordinates.

"Don't worry, boss! We'll find them for sure!" one of the vengeful spirits replied.

"Then hurry up!"

"Yes, yes, right away!"

In a corner of the street, a young girl's anxious and sorrowful voice could be heard. "Brother, wake up! Those monsters are getting closer; we can't stay here any longer!"

The voice sounded urgent and tinged with sadness.

Am I dreaming? The sensation of the girl pushing me felt incredibly real. Opening his eyes, Zhu Mingzhang found himself face-to-face with a delicate and pretty young girl. She had fair cheeks, big, watery eyes, and twin ponytails, her petite figure exuding innocence. However, tears brimmed in her eyes, making her look pitiful.

"Brother, it's so good you're awake! Those monsters are catching up. We need to leave now!" The girl wiped her tears, but her anxious expression remained.

Wait a minute. Wasn't I just lying in bed? Where am I now? And who is this adorable girl in front of me?

[Ding! Welcome, Host, to the Spirit Town Street world. You have awakened the Divine Tycoon System,Also known as the Prince System.]

[Note: Since the Host possesses the Divine Warrior Physique and royal bloodline, this system will serve as a supporting tool only.]

[Ding! The Host's spiritual foundation is currently too weak and has yet to awaken a guardian spirit. The system has assisted you in awakening your first guardian spirit!]

As the cold electronic voice faded, Zhu Mingzhang felt a warm energy surge through his body, soothing his organs. Then, a flood of memories overwhelmed his mind.

This body also belonged to someone named Zhu Mingzhang, a graduate of Dead Soul Island for a year. After graduation, he had been assigned to Hongtian Street as a Spirit Warden. Zhu Mingzhang had not awakened a guardian spirit and relied solely on his limited spiritual power to secure the job. Unfortunately, he was assigned to one of the harshest areas, with no say in the matter due to his weak abilities.

Fortunately, he had Su Ruiqi, his adopted younger sister, for company. Su Ruiqi wasn't his biological sister but someone he had recognized as family. They had grown up in an orphanage where Su Ruiqi, frail and often bullied, had been defended by Zhu Mingzhang. He had shared his food with her and cared for her, leading her to treat him as her real brother.

A man claiming to be a dual master of talismans and spirits had discovered Zhu Mingzhang's latent spiritual talent and invited him to Dead Soul Island for training, promising him a stable life as a Spirit Warden. Determined to provide a better future for himself and Su Ruiqi, Zhu Mingzhang left the orphanage, vowing to return for her in six years. He kept his promise, bringing Su Ruiqi to live with him on Spirit Town Street.

Life there was monotonous, mostly involving cleaning up vengeful spirits. Yet, Zhu Mingzhang found joy in caring for his sister. But today, disaster struck when a vengeful spirit general arrived, leaving Zhu Mingzhang mortally wounded. Originally, he had died, but now, someone else had transmigrated into his body, reviving it.

Within a second, the flood of memories passed. Zhu Mingzhang came back to his senses and thought, *Fine, since I'm here, I might as well adapt! After all, I'm a Spirit Warden of Spirit Town Street. Being a boss here should be easy enough.*

Looking at his beautiful sister, he thought, *Sis, forget about just getting by. From now on, I'll make sure we travel the world, feast on delicacies, and dress you in the finest clothes!*

"Brother, are you still in pain?" Su Ruiqi asked tearfully, glancing at Zhu Mingzhang's blood-soaked shirt.

"What? Pain? No, not at all! What kind of question is that?" he replied with a laugh.

Su Ruiqi's gaze shifted to his stomach. Following her eyes, Zhu Mingzhang noticed the bloodied wound on his abdomen, startling even himself.

So this is where the vengeful spirit general's attack landed, he thought. Thankfully, the injury had already healed when he transmigrated.

Zhu Mingzhang stood up, smiling. "It's nothing! Your brother is as tough as they come!" He even patted his stomach to prove his point.

Seeing that Zhu Mingzhang showed no signs of pain, Su Ruiqi finally let out a sigh of relief. "Brother, since you're fine, let's hurry and escape!"

"No need. I'll protect you!" Zhu Mingzhang patted his chest, looking full of confidence.

"But you're no match for that monster!"

"Don't worry! Just now, I awakened my Guardian Spirit."

"Really?" Su Ruiqi's eyes lit up instantly. Could the days of her brother being a useless failure finally be over? Though she had never despised him for it, the thought stirred mixed feelings as her little finger fidgeted nervously.

"Your Highness, how do I communicate with my Guardian Spirit?"

[Every host has an inner world where their Guardian Spirit resides. Simply gather your spiritual energy at your heart, and you'll be able to enter your inner world.]

As the system's voice faded, Zhu Mingzhang immediately began to try. He inherited memories and combat techniques from his predecessor, including the method to channel spiritual energy. Right now, he was burning with curiosity: who was his first Guardian Spirit? And whose descendant was he?

Following the system's instructions, Zhu Mingzhang quickly entered his inner world.

It was a magnificent palace, resplendent with gold and jade. Numerous portraits hung on the walls, and Zhu Mingzhang approached them out of curiosity. But something was strange—he couldn't make out the details of the portraits. Even as he got closer, even pressing his face against them, they remained blurry! It defied all logic.

While he was puzzling over this anomaly, one of the portraits beside him suddenly emitted a blinding golden light.

When the golden light subsided, a towering giant, seven meters tall, appeared before Zhu Mingzhang. The giant wore iron armor and held a long spear in his hand.

"You… are you my Guardian Spirit?" Zhu Mingzhang asked.

The giant did not answer his question but instead knelt down solemnly before Zhu Mingzhang and said, "General Tang He, at your service, Your Highness!"
