"For how long had this been going on?"
Lily wiggled, trying to dodge the question.
"I'm not going to be mad, but I need to know how many enemies we need to defeat today," I reassured her.
And I'm not even kidding. It's important to know how many of these kids are in on this and for how long have they been doing this. That way I'd know if the situation is still salvageable.
She pushed back to look, wanting to verify if my expression matched my words.
She's red all over. Is she overheating?
She's been gripping her fists since earlier. Imagine wanting to punch the bully but containing it in because it would alert the adults.
"A few days ago. They suddenly became like that because they thought I was lying about my family."
Angry, despondent, and finally exasperated. That's not something a young child should be experiencing in school.
