Chapter 12: The Crypto King
Leo stepped into his room, loosening his tie and exhaling deeply. The board meeting had gone better than he expected, but it had also left him thinking about the future. As much as he wanted to keep his infinite wealth system a secret, he needed a believable cover story—something plausible that explained his sudden rise in finances without raising suspicions.
Sitting at his desk, he powered on his laptop, the glow of the screen lighting up his face.
"All right, let's make this convincing," he murmured to himself, opening the system interface.
The system had already created a detailed past trading history, complete with timestamps, transaction details, and profits. The numbers were staggering but not overly suspicious. According to the records, Leo had invested $100 million in crypto exactly one month ago. From there, he traded daily, leveraging short-term trends to earn consistent returns. His returns ranged from a steady 5–6% on normal days to a jaw-dropping 12–20% on exceptional ones. The occasional bad day showed a modest loss of 1% or less, giving the record an air of realism.
In the system-generated trading account, his $100 million had ballooned to $157 million. The money was real and separate from his infinite funds, tied to the fabricated but convincing trading history.
"This should work," he muttered. "Now to see how Emma reacts."
Emma had just woken up, still groggy from her nap. She stretched and padded into the living room, where she found Leo seated with his laptop.
"Hey, where did you run off to earlier?" she asked, plopping onto the couch next to him.
"Board meeting," Leo replied casually, closing his laptop for a moment. "I had to secure some investments and make a good impression. But there's something I want to show you, and I'd like your honest opinion."
Emma tilted her head, curious. "What is it?"
Leo reopened the laptop and turned the screen toward her. "This," he said, pulling up the trading history. "I've been trading crypto for a while now. I started with $100 million a month ago, and... well, take a look."
Emma's eyes widened as she scanned the screen. "Wait... $157 million? Are you kidding me? You made all this in a month?"
Leo nodded, keeping his expression modest. "Yeah, I've been experimenting with strategies. Crypto is volatile, but with the right approach, it's manageable. The system I've developed helps me track trends and make calculated moves. It's not perfect—I've had a few losses—but overall, it's working."
Emma leaned closer, her face a mix of shock and amazement. "Leo, this is insane. Do you even realize what you've done? People dream of these kinds of returns! You're like... like some kind of crypto king!"
Leo chuckled nervously. "It's not that big of a deal—"
"Oh, it is a big deal," Emma interrupted, standing up. "Ethan and Rebecca need to see this!"
Before Leo could stop her, Emma darted off to find their friends.
Minutes later, Ethan and Rebecca entered the room, both looking skeptical.
"All right, what's this about?" Ethan asked, folding his arms.
"Leo has been secretly trading crypto," Emma said, pointing to the laptop. "Look at this!"
Rebecca leaned over Ethan's shoulder as he examined the screen. His eyes narrowed at first but quickly widened as he scrolled through the trading history.
"Holy... Leo, are you serious right now?" Ethan asked, his voice laced with disbelief.
"100 million to 157 million in a month," Rebecca muttered. "Even for crypto, that's... impressive."
Ethan straightened up and grinned. "Dude, you're a legend! The returns you're pulling are unheard of. People are going to start calling you the Crypto King!"
Leo waved them off, trying to downplay it. "It's not a big deal. Just a hobby, really."
"Not a big deal?" Emma exclaimed. "Leo, you've basically cracked the code for making money out of thin air!"
Rebecca crossed her arms, a small smile tugging at her lips. "If this is what you call a hobby, I'd hate to see what you'd call actual work."
Ethan clapped Leo on the back, laughing. "Man, I need to start taking notes from you. Forget business school; just teach me your ways."
Leo smiled, but inwardly, he felt a mix of relief and guilt. The system's fabricated history had worked perfectly, convincing even his closest friends. Now, he had a plausible cover for his wealth, one that could hold up under scrutiny.
"Fine," he said with a smirk. "If you're going to crown me the Crypto King, I guess I'll have to live up to the title."
The room erupted in laughter, but as the excitement settled, Leo couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. With his system and his newfound cover story, the possibilities were endless—but so were the risks.
