Chapter 1 - The Waking of The Bamboo Master

In one of the courtyards in the Lu household, a room is located in a quarter behind the peach tree that seems to be hidden away from the public eye, not meant to be accessed by anyone.

Upon entry, the scent of incense wafts warmly through the air and right in the middle of the room, a pale masculine figure can be seen lying peacefully, supposedly asleep in the middle of a bamboo bed. This person could be mistaken to be deceased, but only the faint rising and falling of his chest indicates that he is indeed alive and is in a very deep slumber.

Beside the bed, another figure is sat beside the still figure, from the uniform it is presumably a maid of the Lu household. Yu Meimei has come give this young master his daily medicine and the usual massage and acupuncture that a Master she once met gave to her.

These therapies didn't seem to yield any progressive effect on the young master's body medically, but it did help him stay in shape all these years in which he was comatose so he wouldn't be paralyzed, so she kept on coming everyday unfailingly.

Although she wasn't obligated to do this at all according to the standings of the present Lu family members, Yu Meimei still wanted to do this for her boss because she was saved by him in the past.

As sweat dripped down her forehead from the massaging exercise, Meimei subconsciously started muttering to no one in particular, but it seemed she was talking to the comatose young master. She did this anytime she was here, always speaking about nothing in particular actually, sometimes its recent gossip amongst the household workers, other times it was old stories and folklore that her grandfather used to tell her as a child. But today was different, because she had actually come to say farewell.

"It is time for me to leave you master. I have to go and pay back the debts that I owe. " Meimei said with a serious tone.

"I have been summoned this time, and as much as I would love to keep avoiding it as I have been doing, I cannot this time. I wish i could be around on the day that you wake up." As she further speaks, tears gather in her eyes, and the tears drop on his chest as she quietly sobs.

Yu Meimei was quite the chatty persona but at this moment she lacked the words, so she just quietly sobbed as she finished wiping the remnants of his body.

On the other side of the bed, the dainty fingers laid on the side of the young master slightly twitched in response to this shocking news. The action was so little it could have been dubbed a trick of the mind. This proved that this young man was indeed awake, and he could hear and understand everything going on around him, but he just couldn't move his physical body.

Indeed, Lu Zisheng had been conscious for a very long time now, in fact he had already woken up three months after that incident and has been very aware of his surroundings and the state he was in, but he didn't have control over his own body. But at this moment he truly wished he could open his eyes to at least see the face of the person speaking to him.

There was a slight complication though, Lu Zisheng noticed that since that incident happened, he couldn't recall somethings, only on the things said around him to gather information and try to put the bits and pieces together.

For instance, he was sure that he knew this voice that came to his room every day and spoke to him, but he didn't know how or where he was supposed to know her from.

Yu Meimei had finished packing up her things at this moment and was prepared to leave.

"I hope we meet again Lu Zisheng." She dropped the honorifics at this point.

No. No. No. Don't go... I haven't figured who you are yet, you can't leave! I don't even know your name...

"I hope we wouldn't have to separate like this at that time. Please survive Young Master, no matter what it takes, you just have to survive..." she said as she slowly backed away to the door of the room.

No... Stop right there! what do you mean "survive"? Isn't the danger gone?

Lu zisheng tried with all his might to scream for her to stop walking away and to just explain what she meant by that statement, because he had a feeling that it would be very hard finding this woman later on. But no matter how hard he tried, his lips just wouldn't move.

"Goodbye... Young Master"

With these final words, Yu meimei left the room and shut the door, hurriedly navigating through the courtyard and finally finding her way out of the Lu estate. With the aid of a teleportation talisman, Yu Meimei disappeared out of sight once she was hidden behind some bushes, she then appeared beside another young man with a graceful air about him who was looking down from atop a cliff, enjoying the peaceful and serene view of Tianehu Valley.

Adorned in dark sophisticated robes that were embroided with gold and made with the finest silk in the province, one could tell that he was a man of high status.

His face however, wasn't fully visible as he wore a hood and a mini vail around his face to hide his identity. But it was obvious from his cat-like eyes and the perfectly shaped silhouette of his jawline that he was indeed a fine man. Although his presence didn't seem to move Yu Meimei in the slightest.

"I assume you have finished your bussiness here now?" The man asked, ever so slightly turning to glance at Meimei.

"Mm" Meimei responded in a somewhat carried away manner

"Then let's go." The man turned around finally looking away from the view, with a wave of his sleeve, a portal formed and he walked through it to the desired destination.

Meimei hesitated a little before following, with a brief glance back at the valley, to a certain house in particular, Meimei made up her mind. With a now determined heart, Yu Meimei walked through the portal and vanished also.

Two Weeks Later... In Lu Zisheng's courtyard

After the mystirious maid left that day, Lu zisheng finally opened his eyes. It seemed there was something that that woman did to him that aided his awakening after such a long time, afterwards he focused on getting his body back in moving shape. It wasn't an easy feat considering he hasn't walked in Three years, but the massages that the maid gave him did quicken the process for him since it kept his muscles engaged instead of asleep.

Although he still couldn't make any big movements, day by day he was getting the feeling back in his body. Now while no one was around, he practiced moving his limbs everyday, and he has now gotten to the point where he could sit up on his own.

The maid that was now in charge of cleaning and feeding him had just left, so Lu Zisheng now sat up backing the entrance of the room, wanting to resume practicing his standing.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to him, the maid from before was behind him witnessing the whole thing. She had left behind the laudery basket and went back to get it, not expecting that the Young Master would be awake and well right in front of her.

In utter disbelief, the maid dropped what she was holding, the sound of the clutter dropping to the floor is what alerted Lu Zisheng of another person's presence. He turned with wide eyes full of dread of what was to come.

"He's awake! The Young Master is awake!!!!" The maid ran out screaming.

Aiyyaaaaa... And there goes all my peace and solitude... sigh...

From this point on Lu Zisheng knew that all his plans would have to be moved up and things will have to move at a faster pace now.

It was inevitable in fact, the main drama from this point had already begun.
