Chapter 71: Killing (Part 2)

Butler Fei couldn't understand how more than thirty armed men had been killed by a single individual barehanded. His heart pounded as he stared at Charlotte, whose face was calm but whose eyes held a terrifying intensity. Cold sweat dripped down Butler Fei's forehead as he struggled to comprehend the monstrous being in front of him.

Charlotte's predatory smile widened as he took a step closer to the trembling manager.

Seeing Charlotte approach, Butler Fei finally snapped.

"You! You! Don't come any closer! Stop! Stop right there, or else! Or else—!"

Butler Fei stammered, his voice breaking with fear.

His trembling hands instinctively reached into his pocket, pulling out the detonator linked to the explosive collar around Charlotte's neck.

"Stop, Number 98! Stop right there if you don't want to die!" Butler Fei shouted, his voice tinged with desperation.

Charlotte paused momentarily, his eyes narrowing as he glanced down at the collar around his neck. He had almost forgotten about it.

Seeing Charlotte hesitate, Butler Fei's confidence surged.

"That's right! Number 98! If you don't want your head blown off, get back into the cage right now!"

The manager's voice regained its usual arrogance as he waved the detonator triumphantly.

But Charlotte simply smiled—a chilling, mocking smile—and continued walking forward, step by step.

"Number 98! I'm warning you! Don't test me!" Butler Fei's voice cracked as his confidence began to waver once more.

Still, Charlotte advanced.

"Fine! You brought this on yourself!" Butler Fei roared and pressed the red button on the detonator.

A sharp beeping sound filled the air as the red light on Charlotte's collar began flashing rapidly.

Seeing this, the surrounding slaves lowered their heads in sorrow. They couldn't bear to watch as the boy who had shown such courage and defiance met his end.

But Charlotte's expression remained unchanged. His smile widened, his gaze fixed on Butler Fei.

Why is he smiling? Butler Fei wondered, dread creeping into his heart.

The explosion erupted with a deafening bang. Smoke and debris enveloped Charlotte's figure, obscuring him from view.

The sound of the explosion reverberated throughout the auction house.

In the front hall, Major General Wells immediately recognized the sound and felt a surge of unease.

"What's happening back there?" he muttered, his hands clenching into fists.

At the auction stage, Doudou forced a charming smile as he tried to maintain the atmosphere.

"Thirty-eight million Baileys! Any higher bids? Remember, this is made from the finest pearls of the East Blue—priceless!"

But the audience had already been distracted by the noise. The heated bidding halted, and murmurs spread through the crowd.

Mayor Hoyle, seated in private room No. 1, frowned deeply. His patience was running thin.

---

Backstage, Butler Fei erupted into laughter, his voice filled with relief and triumph.

"Hahahaha! That's what you get for resisting me! You should've stayed in your cage like a good little slave!"

The manager's shrill laughter echoed through the silent room, grating on everyone's nerves.

The enslaved individuals in their cages lowered their heads further, their hearts heavy with despair.

But just as Butler Fei's laughter reached its peak, a voice cut through the air.

"Hey, what's so funny?"

The mocking tone sent a chill down Butler Fei's spine. He turned, his movements stiff, and stared at the figure emerging from the smoke.

Charlotte stood there, unharmed, the remains of the explosive collar scattered on the ground.

"You! You're not dead?" Butler Fei stammered, his face pale with terror.

Charlotte stepped forward, placing a hand on Butler Fei's shoulder.

"Why would I die?" Charlotte asked softly, his tone laced with mockery.

Butler Fei froze, his body trembling. His mind raced, but no coherent thoughts formed.

Before he could respond, Charlotte grabbed him by the neck and hoisted him into the air.

"You have a really dirty heart," Charlotte muttered, activating his observation Haki and mind-reading ability.

Disgust flashed across Charlotte's face as he delved into Butler Fei's twisted thoughts. He quickly stopped, unwilling to see more.

"You're filth," Charlotte declared, his voice filled with contempt.

With a casual flick of his wrist, he hurled Butler Fei toward the front hall with incredible force.

The manager's body crashed through the wall separating the backstage from the auction hall, sending debris flying.

---

In the auction hall, Doudou was mid-sentence when Butler Fei's body hurtled through the wall and collided with him.

Bang!

Both bodies hit the floor with a sickening thud, blood pooling beneath them.

The crowd froze in shock, their eyes fixed on the grisly scene.

Major General Wells shot to his feet, his heart pounding.

"That aura… it's him!" Wells muttered, his observation Haki confirming Charlotte's presence.

"Your Excellency, Major General—" the colonel began, but Wells silenced him with a glare.

The audience erupted into chaos, with nobles shouting in anger and fear.

"What's going on?"

"Who dares disrupt this auction?"

As the uproar grew, a figure stepped through the hole in the wall.

Charlotte emerged, his gaze cold and unyielding as he surveyed the crowd. Blood dripped from his hands, staining the floor as he took a step forward.

"Prepare yourselves," he said, his voice carrying a chilling finality.

The room fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in.
