Fenrich spent the next 3 hours with the small group that chose Greatsword, Saber and Longsword, their gym had training copies of each weapon, so Fenrich used those instead of his Steel Greatsword. It saved on durability, and was ultimately successful as they had all upgraded their Weapon Mastery Skill from level 1 to level 3. Each increase in Skill level made them deal 1% more damage while they gained a set of forms and stances for further training and comprehension at level 3 in their Weapon Mastery.
When they started sparring it was 7 in the morning, with the 1 hour choice time they were given, it was now 11. Everyone was getting hungry, and for Fenrich he was starved now after close to 3 hours of continuous practice and guidance. He had also learned the Longsword and Saber Weapon Mastery Skills. For those who chose bows and or staffs with magic based Skills, they were told not to waste their limited stock of arrows and Mana pools. Without any potions or resources it'd be foolish to waste what they had been given without raising their levels to gain more attributes.
Fenrich then went and grouped up with Ren and Chiaki. Both were Awakeners, Ren awakened Strength and Agility, while Chiaki awakened Intelligence only. Putting them above others as each level will be all the more rewarding for them.
"Fenrich, what are your thoughts on how we do our groupings? Ren asked, while Chiaki stayed silent as she would only give her input when it was required. It was due to her traumatic childhood, she only spoke when she deemed it worthy of her input, otherwise she stayed silent and moved with the flow.
"The three of us should each take a group of 10 individuals, 1 person specializing in magic, 2 long range, and the rest being close combatants. Far more people chose cold weapons, only 5 chose long range weapons and 3 for magic. The rest will remain here for now, they will barricade the windows and doors. All lights will be turned off and they will be in change rooms away from windows after the work is done." Fenrich said
Chiaki nodded her head giving her ascent, while Ren mulled over things, they did not have any specific information except for the screens of font and the voice that spoke in their heads. "We will have to figure things out the hard way, there is no way around it." Ren sighed as he was not the biggest fan of the unknown, doubly so for their new reality.
"Alright, let's get our squads made up and go on a conquest." Fenrich smiled as he patted Ren on the shoulder. "You'll be fine Ren, this is like a video game turned into real life. You excel at RPGS, let your game knowledge and uncountable hours keep you alive and make you stronger. Don't worry about the unknown for now, we have no choice but to slowly learn and accumulate."
Fenrich walked away as he cupped his hands to his mouth and spoke out. "Chiaki, Ren and myself will be group leaders taking 9 other members with us. We will have 1 mage, 2 long range dps, and the rest will be close combatants. Those that want to be in Chiaki's team will have to go knowing that communication is strictly on an as needed basis. You heard the voice and saw the notifications, 1 month is neither long nor short. Now is the time to make it count most!"
After ten more minutes and a few squabbles as not all wanted to be left behind, the three groups were formed.
"Ren, you will take College Square Mall down to Baseline and Merivale. Chiaki's group will take care of the industrial side of Merivale. My group will be going a further distance to start with Barrhaven to Cedarview. For now these are our main priorities. Food, water tools, cooking utensils, clothes, pots, pans and portable cooking setups. Our inventory has 100 slots to begin with and has an item stacking option with up to 99 units per slot. Keep that in mind, grab as much of the important stuff as possible. As for the rest use your own discretion without giving up the priority items. Do not be aggressors to our fellow humans, your survival is more important."
Fenrich led his group out, all of them going at a fast but controlled pace. As they all were athletes and had been going through conditioning for many years, it was not hard for them to maintain. And with their attribute points making them feel stronger than they were previously, they were able to push themselves far harder. There was also the side benefit as they could all gain an additional 15 attribute points to their base points before needing Cultivation manuals to improve further.
10 minutes went by peacefully, they were after all in an area with high traction, the only difference was there were no stranded cars, or any vehicles in general. Their group had come across slain zombies, and also dead humans, there was no need for combat yet, so their stamina had remained high, only going down 2-5 points despite crossing 4 kilometers by foot.
It was only when they passed west hunt club and got to the path past the Nepean Sports Plex going towards Barrhaven when they met their first group. Fenrich used the basic Identify Skill; they were all given for free and shared its attributes with his group.
Zombie
Level: 1
Health: 225

"The zombies have very slow movement, so far there seems to be no mutants like the Resident Evil series or any other surprises. Watch for their nails and bites, we don't know if anyone can become infected yet." Fenrich reminded the group as he took out his Steel Greatsword and wielded it with one hand.
Fenrich took charge as he called out "Archers aim for their heads, mages don't let your spells cause any friendly fire." Coming face to face with his "first" zombie, Fenrich dodged to the back of the zombie avoiding its wild swing. Fenrich kicked down on an angle breaking the zombies right leg, causing a -44 to float above its head then chopped the zombie splitting it in half from head to waist, a lethal attack emptying out its health points.
[You have gained 15 (30) Experience Points.]
[You have gained 5 (10) Survivor Coins.]
The others, after seeing how easy it was for Fenrich to dispatch one zombie, began hyping themselves up as they also began breaking off and picking off their own targets. They quickly realized the difference as their attributes were 10 across the board, making it a lot harder to kill their targets. But with their training and martial arts, it didn't take them more than twelve seconds to take out their targets.
Fenrich watched as he saw the members of his group gain their confidence at successfully killing their targets. Some were more shaken then others at fighting zombies and had gotten scratched. They'd lost 13-20 health depending on their stat allocations. None were infected or gained any negative debuffs, because they hadn't taken enough attacks to gain said debuffs.
Those that got hit losing a good 7-20% total health became a hell of a lot more careful, killing their targets with less nervousness and getting used to their "new" bodies and weapons.
The long ranged went for the headshots, missing 3 out of 5 shots, but gaining a smaller portion of the experience since the kill wasn't completely on their own. But with 10 stacks of 99 basic arrows, they had some wiggle room but not a lot. The sole mage in the group sent out a fireball, hitting between 40-70 damage as well as 20 dot damage over 5 seconds. But with fireball taking 10 Mana a pop, and she invested all points into Intelligence, the caster relied on a mix of close combat and fireball.
Fenrich saw everybody was starting to gain order to their movements, some formed groups of twp and began working together, whereas he alone had triple the attribute points and so he went on his own.
The path they were on had a lot of trees and bush with a mix of open forest space, not wanting to take any chances, the group moved over to the open road. After going three quarters of the way to Barrhaven and everybody leveling up at least once, they all sat down catching their breaths. Their Health, Mana and Stamina were all topped off to full, but their acquired exhaustion was not magically wiped away. Not the mental kind at least.
"Everybody take 20 minutes. We're not far from entering Barrhaven, we will have a gas station, Timhortons and McDonald's all within 50 meters of each other. We will clear out all the surrounding zombies first, then go and get water and food to replenish and fill ourselves. I will go ahead and see what it looks like ahead of us."
Fenrich went ahead as he said, seeing the welcome to Barrhaven sign and the huge numbers of zombies ahead of them. At a quick glance he'd seen no less than 200, all with a mix of levels between 1-3 which was not an issue at all. But there was a more unique zombie that had a blood red aura surrounding it and had the word Elite above its head.
Elite Zombie
Level: 5
Health, 4,500
Skills: Claw, Bite, Poison Breath, Tough Body (passive)
Fenrich was not expecting to see an Elite so soon, their were several tiers for all zombies, mutant beasts and so forth despite the zombies numerous mutations. They were the common moobs, Uncommon, Rare, Elite, Silver, Gold, Dark Gold, Epic, Ancient, Legendary, Mythical, Divine and God tier.
The scariest thing about these unnamed but Elite and above enemies was that they had begun forming basic intelligence, luckily their world had only changed 4 and a half hours ago, so this Elite had close to no time to develop its intelligence or its unique sense.
Otherwise, for scanning this single Elite zombie alone, Fenrich would have aggroed the entire mob since the Elite would have mobilized every zombie within a certain distance of itself.
"Tabernacle" Fenrich spoke his favorite french slur before he carefully retreated, slowing his heart down as he "erased" his presence, not willing to make any mistake that could cause a small hoard to be on his and the group's asses.
Rejoining the group, Fenrich told the group about what he'd seen, and instead of the expected fear, he instead saw resolve and the faintest whiff of killing intent from those that enjoyed the slaughter. It was a long time before they would be capable of forming their killing intents, but seeing these combat maniacs that he called brothers and sisters, it too roused his own hunger.
"Those of you that haven't assigned your rewarded attribute points from levels yet should do so now. We will slaughter to our hearts content, then we shall feast!" Fenrich raised the morale of his group, but did nothing over the top. They all knew it for themselves, going overboard would only dampen their spirits instead.
