One year ago, Ilyon was half dead on a river bank, his face was covered with blood and had a wound on his head. To his luck, a couple who were passing by found him and took him to their house.
At the couple's house, Ilyon's wounds were treated and they administer him medicine, which helped his wounds to heal. Despite of its fast healing abilities, it had powerful side effects that kept Ilyon sedated.
Several months had passed, Ilyon opened his eyes for the first time. As he rose from his bed, his head suddenly ached, his ears rang - adding discomfort.
Unable to endure the pain, Ilyon groaned and shouted. His screams caught the attention of the couple that saved him. The wife of the man who saved Ilyon called his daughter to get some painkillers. The husband, however, stopped her and said, "Calm down, leave him be…"
"But he's in pain!" the wife said, worried about Ilyon.
"Let the side effect of the medicine wear out. He's fine now, since he could open his eyes," the man replied to his wife.
Ilyon's pain and the ringing of his head faded, but he became dizzy after. "Where… am I?" Ilyon asked, but drifted to sleep.
"We'll talk to him later when he recovers," the man said to his wife and daughter.
[Welcome Lord Ilyon!]
"Is this a dream?" Ilyon thought, hearing the woman's voice greeting him. "Who are you!?"
[I am Felicia, your personal assistant!]
"A personal assistant?" Ilyon was baffled, unable to understand what the voice meant.
[You have finally awakened from a long coma. Your soul had been transported to the world of Vandemyere.]
"Vandemyere?" Ilyon asked.
[Yes!]
"How long have I been out and these memories? This doesn't make sense!" Ilyon asked the voice.
[I have little information about your past life. However, your name in this world is Ilyon Vanders.]
Confused by what just happened, memories suddenly flashed in his head. He saw the flag of Sylderin, the mansion, and a red-haired woman in her white dress.
[You have recovered one percent of your memory!]
"Only... one percent?" Ilyon asked, unable to process the information on his head.
[I am tasked with assisting you in this world because your previous life has ended. I, Felicia, can only do so much. The rest is up to you.]
"What!?" Ilyon exclaimed
[Yes, it to forfeit this life or start anew? The decision is yours!]
"Give me time... To at least process my thoughts." Ilyon said to the voice.
[Very well... in three days I will visit you again. For now, focus on recovery. I will assist in the process as well to ensure you wake up safely!]
"Fine!" Ilyon agreed, even though everything seemed confusing to him.
Three days later, inside the room where Ilyon rested. The daughter of the couple who was watching him fell asleep. She leaned her head on her arms, which were crossed.
Ilyon opened his eyes once more. His vision cleared and saw the sun rising from the window. The light brightened the room, and he saw a woman who was sleeping at the table.
"Who is this woman?" Ilyon thought and took his blanket and covered the woman's back with it. "She must be cold..." He said and looked at his surroundings.
The cobwebs were at the corners of the roof. He smelled the earthy smell of the floor, which was unpaved soil. Ilyon then asked himself, "Where am I?"
"I told you... it's the side effect of the painkillers. He should be awake anytime soon!" Ilyon heard a man's voice outside of his room.
At first he was surprised and nervous, but seeing the bottles of medicines around, he realized that these people may have been taking care of him. A man entered the room after with his wife. They were glad to see that Ilyon stood up.
"Take it easy, boy. You should still be in bed." The man said to Ilyon.
"Take it easy? I don't know where I am or who are you guys! I appreciate your care, but I..." Ilyon was uneasy as he spoke.
"We found you on the river bank near here. You were unconscious, but we found you half dead. Thankfully, our medicine worked..." the wife explained to Ilyon.
"I see... I'm sorry to make you worry!" Ilyon said and realized that he was topless. His skin felt the morning breeze.
"Your clothes are being dried. As of now, please use that shirt over there!" The man said, referring to his clothes prepared for him near the bed.
Ilyon saw the shirt and wore it. He felt warmer after the shirt covered his torso. "Thanks!" Ilyon said gratefully.
"You're welcome, young man! What is your name?" The man asked Ilyon.
"It's Ilyon Vanders. Nice to meet you!" Ilyon introduced himself.
"Ilyon? Your name sounds strange!" The man replied and introduced himself. "I am William and this is Catherine, my wife and our daughter..." William glanced towards his sleeping daughter, "Hilda, that's her name!"
"F... Father!?" Hilda, surprised upon seeing Ilyon wearing his father's shirt, arranged her looks and apologized.
"No need to apologize, dear." William said and then spoke to Ilyon, "I see that you are not a bad man. Please, make yourself at home!"
The family went out of the room, leaving Ilyon on his own. He pondered about his dream about talking to a woman's voice. He felt that three days had passed since he talked towards it. All of a sudden, the voice suddenly spoke in Ilyon's mind and said.
[Good day, Lord Ilyon. In waking up, you must have decided not to forfeit your life. I am glad that you did, and I will follow you until the end!]
"What!?" Ilyon, surprised by what he heard, replied. "You're that voice... Felicia!?"
[That's right, Lord Ilyon! A contract has been bound upon opening your eyes this day! Please consider this a blessing. A new life, a reward.]
"How could I consider this a reward!?" Ilyon asked himself and then spoke to Felicia. "What are you Felicia?"
[I am a system made from an unknown origin. My task is clear, and that is to assist you, and to ensure you have a bright future in this world! With me on your side, there's nothing to fear! Let's get acquainted.]
