The golem was a towering mass of jagged rock and swirling dust. It lunged toward them with terrifying speed, its rocky fists swinging like battering rams.
"Everyone, move!" Ronan barked, his sword flashing in the dim light as he charged forward.
Calen's heart pounded in his chest. His body instinctively followed Ronan's lead, though his mind was still trying to catch up. He reached for his staff, but the magic was erratic, barely responding.
"Focus, Calen!" Seris shouted from behind him.
With a deep breath, Calen extended his hand, trying to summon the magic that was barely within his grasp. The wind around him stirred, picking up speed, but it was nothing compared to the force of the golem's charge.
Vera's voice rang out over the roar of the golem. "Aim for the core! There's a weak point in its chest!"
Calen nodded, gathering all his focus on the target. He reached deep within himself, calling on the wild magic that had always felt just out of reach.
The air crackled around him as a sudden gust of wind whipped through the battlefield. It was enough to throw off the golem's balance for just a moment.
"Now!" Ronan shouted.
With a roar, Calen thrust his hands forward. The wind around him surged, slamming into the golem with all its might. The creature stumbled back, its chest cracking open to reveal a glowing core at its center.
"That's it! Strike it!" Vera cried, already moving in for the kill.
With a swift motion, Ronan lunged, his sword piercing the golem's chest. The creature let out a final, ear-splitting roar before collapsing into a pile of rubble.
The group stood in stunned silence, panting heavily from the fight. Calen, still shaking from the intensity of the battle, looked up at Vera.
"Well, that was fun," she said with a sly grin, wiping her blade clean.
"Fun?" Calen asked, his voice breathless. "You've got a funny definition of fun."
Ronan chuckled. "She's been through worse."
"You're lucky we got it," Vera added. "Now, let's see what else this place has hidden."
