"Maybe," Jiraiya said with a grin. "Just wait and see."
The day's training began with basic sparring, but Jiraiya was itching for a chance to test his seals. When it was his turn to face Orochimaru again, he couldn't contain his excitement.
"This time, you're going down, snake breath," Jiraiya declared, pulling a scroll from his pouch.
Orochimaru smirked. "Is that so?"
As Orochimaru lunged, Jiraiya threw the scroll at the ground between them, activating the explosive seal. A small blast erupted, forcing Orochimaru to retreat with a startled expression.
"What—?" Orochimaru began, but Jiraiya was already moving. Using Chakra Dash, he closed the distance and launched a punch that grazed Orochimaru's side.
Orochimaru regained his composure quickly, countering with a kunai slash that forced Jiraiya back. "Interesting. When did you start using fuuinjutsu?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Jiraiya replied, dodging another strike. He pulled another scroll from his pouch, tossing it into the air. This one unfurled to reveal a storage seal, releasing a cloud of smoke and several small stones that rained down toward Orochimaru.
Orochimaru dodged the stones with ease, his eyes narrowing. "Clever, but not enough."
Before he could launch a counterattack, Hiruzen stepped in. "That's enough for now. Well done, both of you."

Orochimaru's eyes lingered on him for a moment before he turned and walked away. Tsunade, who had been watching the exchange, snorted.
"Don't let him get to you, Jiraiya," she said. "Orochimaru's just mad you finally caught him off guard."
"Yeah, well, I've got a lot more catching up to do," Jiraiya admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But at least now I've got a shot."
