Ariadna stepped back, evading Lux's swift strike as his blade whooshed past her. She quickly pivoted and launched a counterattack, but he expertly parried her blow with ease. They danced around the training ground, exchanging blows and sidesteps, neither one managing to land a hit on the other.
Lux's movements were fluid, a testament to his experience, but Ariadna's determination pushed her onward. She focused intently, searching for an opening. Then she spotted it—a brief moment where his guard dropped, just enough for her to slip through.
With a burst of speed, she darted forward, narrowly dodging another swing of his sword. She blocked his next attack and quickly thrust her wooden sword into his abdomen, landing a light but decisive hit.
With a mixture of surprise and admiration in his eyes, Lux stepped back, conceding defeat. Ariadna nodded, feeling proud of herslef.
Ariadna nodded at Lux before turning her gaze to her brother, who watched her intently. This victory was crucial because she needed information from him. She and Velor had been facing questions they couldn't answer on their own.
Vayan smiled and said, "Wonderful work, little one! Congratulations on your first win. You've really grown as a true vessel of the God in the last few months. I'm proud of you."
Ariadna bowed in response. "In the name of the God, only perfection is required," she replied, making Vayan beam with pride.
She continued, "I am eternally grateful for the teachings from you and Commander Lux. You've helped me discover my path and purpose. But I am just beginning my journey to righteousness and serving the God's will."
Vayan nodded but added, "Your rapid improvement matches your great potential. I believe no one has shown such potential in hundreds of years. We are proud to be your teachers and to help shape the most prominent vessel of our God."
Ariadna bowed again, asking, "Am I worthy enough to gain more knowledge, brother?"
Vayan tilted his head slightly, observing her as she kept her head bowed. "Yes, little one. Let's rest for today. We'll meet for lunch in my study to eat together and discuss some holy knowledge."
Ariadna replied gently, "Thank you, brother. There's no greater reward than serving our God to the best of my abilities. I hope to understand my abilities even better."
"Do not rush, little one. All will come in time. Go rest, and I'll see you at lunch." With that, he waved her away. She bowed to Lux once more before hurrying to her room.
Marina helped her bathe and change into her new daily robes, which were now the robes of a warrior priest. They were light and practical—shorter but still comfortable enough to wear under armor if needed. They were also red.
Today was an important day. She finally had the chance to ask her brother one crucial question: what is the divine flame, and how does it change its vessels? She also wanted to know about the holy army. She knew they were regularly away, but she didn't know what they were doing. It seemed as this information was also escaping Velor. So, given that she was supposed to join this army at some point, she wanted to know what is it that they were doing.
When the time came Ariadna went to her brother's study. As she knocked on the big door made of black wood, it opened without a sound.
