Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

After 15 minutes or so the procedure was finally over. Ridhima was asked to lay down for a bit, so that Yuvraj could make sure that the medicines didn't make her dizzy.

She fell a sleep after a minute or so. Yuvraj just kept admiring her silent sleep from his chair.

Then he got up from the chair and got closer to her bed. She smiled while being deep asleep, she was possibly dreaming. This make Yuvraj smile to himself, he still couldn't believe that his best friend didn't recognize him.

Then he got down to take a closer look at her. His face just being inches away from her. The room was so silent that he could clearly hear her breathing.

Out of nowhere the door opened making a nasty sound. Yuvraj stood up straight and looked toward the door. It was Rajveer.

They both looked at each other and gave a big smile.

"Bhai, you are here." Rajveer exclaimed.

"I am." Yuvraj said while they walked close to each other for a hug.

"If I knew you would be here I would have gotten here earlier." Rajveer said while patting on Yuvraj's back while hugging him. He continued "I thought you were joining from tomorrow."

"I was" Yuvraj replied while withdrawing himself back from the hug. "But Ridhima was coming today. So I thought that I should not delay with the procedure."

All this noise dragged Ridhima out of her deep sleep and she sat up right.

Watching her awake now Rajveer exclaimed "Ridhima, how do you feel?".

"I am..." Before Ridhima could finish her words Yuvraj kneeled in front of her and asked "Does the medicines hurt at all or do you feel dizzy?"

"Oh no, I am fine." She replied.

And they both smiled at each other.

Spoiling their wholesome moment, Rajveer said "Well then Ridhima get up let me drop you home."

"Sure I just need to use the restroom for once." She replied.

Ridhima got up and Yuvraj gave Rajveer an annoyed look.

As soon as she left the room and the door behind her shut off. Yuvraj got up and explained "Let me take drop her home."

"What! Why?" Rajveer exclaimed.

"Well... I need to check for any side effects." Yuvraj replied.

"I can take care of that. I am going to be a doctor too." Rajveer tried to argue.

"No you can't you know nothing about her condition, on top of that you are in your first semester." He explained.

Rajveer sighed, trying to convince Yuvraj he said "Dude I think that I am in love with Ridhima, but I never made a move because she had a boyfriend. But now they have finally broken up and this is my chance. So please let me drop her home."

"Dude, I had no idea. If you say so then, fine take her home. Good luck." Yuvraj smirked and winked at him.

Rajveer smiled back at him. By the time even Ridhima returned from the restroom and they all headed out of the room.

While waiting patiently for the elevator Rajveer looked at Yuvraj and asked "Are you leaving right now."

"No." He firmly replied "I am just headed for the convenient store across the street to get some juice."

Ridhima could obviously sense the tension in the air but she choose to make the wise choice and remain silent.

After leaving the building Ridhima followed Rajveer to the parking lot and Yuvraj headed for the convenient store across the street.

Rajveer trying to make a big romantic gesture opened the door to the passenger seat but Ridhima didn't get what was he was trying to do. She looked and him all confused and then opened the door to the backseat herself while looking at him sarcastically.

Rajveer pushed the door and closed it before it was even open enough for Ridhima to enter.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Rajveer asked while practically yelling at her.

This made Ridhima even more angry at him "What am I doing. I have a better question. What were you trying to do. You know that I am scared to sit in the front seat and yet you are trying to get me to sit there."

"This is not a cheap school van. This car is worth of crores and it's total save. Just get over it."

Ridhima scoffed and said "Get over it? You know that I have had panic attacks for years. If I could control it I would have. I thought you of all people would understand."

Looking through the glass window Yuvraj could clearly seen them arguing and he was certain what they were arguing about. He paid the cashier for two bottles of juice and a scissor.

He continued to walk across the street and as he was walking past Rajveer's car 'worth of crores' he pretended to drop a bottle, bend to pick it up and pocked two holes in the back tires, making sure that the punctures were beyond repair.

Then he got up and said "Hey, Rajveer!" dragging their attention to him. "I think that you have got two flat tires"

"What" Rajveer anxiously rushed back to see what happened. "How could this happen."

Ridhima calmly stepped back to see the damage, sighed and said "Guess that I will have to take the bus after all."

"No. Ridhima there is a repair shop at the end of the street. It will hardly take 10 minutes." He anxiously explained.

"No it won't. It will definitely take longer" Yuvraj shrugged.

"They will just change the tire."

"Of course they will, but read the sign over there." He pointed at the sign board at the end of the street which read 'Close from 3:30 to 6:00 P.M.'

It was 5:15 P.M. right now.

Rajveer was extremely stressed. Ridhima patted on his back and said in a calm voice trying to cool him down "Don't worry about it. Go inside and I will take the bus."

Before Rajveer could even reply, Yuvraj said "Ridhima, my work is already over. I can drop you home. I was just planning to do some extra work but it would be too much to do overtime on the first day of the job."

"Oh no, please don't worry about me. You should head home. I don't want to cause you any trouble." She replied.

"Ridhima there is no trouble, we live in the same area."

"Really!? I never knew that."

Finally Rajveer got a chance to speak up "That's great bhai you can take us both home."

"Both?" They both asked at the same time.

"Yeah, why not? What will I do here anyways?" Rajveer said in a confused tone.

"You wait and get the car fixed." Yuvraj replied expressionlessly.

"But dad can take care of that." Rajveer anxiously replied.

"Your dad has enough on his plate already, just do this one thing for him. Besides that, the network here great. You can play PUBG and Call of duty as much as you want." Ridhima added.

Yuvraj nodded and they both stared at him expressionlessly.

Having no choice and being under too much pressure to oppose Rajveer accepted all his hard work and plan going down the drain, he nodded and marched inside.

Yuvraj commanded Ridhima to follow him to the car and she followed like an obedient child.

Before Ridhima could ever say anything about her fear Yuvraj opened the door to the backseat himself.

Ridhima was both surprised and impressed. She thanked him and sat inside.

As soon as the car was on the road she asked "Did Rajveer tell you about my ... fear?"

"No" he bluntly replied.

He continued "I just assumed that the girl who had such a traumatic past with the passenger seat wouldn't be a great fan of it."

Hearing this Ridhima smiled to herself, knowing that a 'stranger' can understand her feelings better than one of her closest friends.
