Of course it was not without it's benefits. It was through this flame that he gained the title, the Dark Star of the battlefield. He was able to offer more firepower and strength than those of his cultivation level.
But all of it was in the past. Rex touched the dark gold flame in front of him. Unlike the dark flame from before, it had no rejection whatsoever to his presence. He had full control of the flame.
Opening his eyes once more, Rex arrived back to the real world from his inner world. He pushed himself up from the ground where he had laid once more. His bones crackled as he got up. Unlike before, his entire body felt full of vitality.
"I feel strong like a mountain"
He punched his hand forward as if to show his power and test it but what Rex didn't expect was that when he punched the air, his hand was so fast that he wasn't able to see it. Rather he wasn't used to the speed so he wasn't able to see his arm clearly. The air whooshed in response as if to show the force that he carried with just as simple punch.
But what surprised Rex was not those things but his arm which was covered entirely in black. He looked at his body in the mirror to see that he no longer had any clothes and his entire body was blackened, as if covered in soot.
"What the hell…"
He headed for the shower, eager to wash away the grime. But the soot clung stubbornly to his skin, forcing him to scrub even more desperately not wanting to keep it on his body.
"Why is this so hard to clean off"
Bottle after bottle of shampoo and soap was used, until at last, his skin returned to its natural state or rather, an improved version of it. Stepping out of the shower, Rex caught sight of himself in the mirror again. His jaw dropped as he saw his current appearance in it.
He had became even more handsome than before. His skin had became better and his handsome face had a trace of an evil look to it but it didn't decrease his handsomeness but rather increased it and added more to his charm.
Not only his face, his body also experienced changes. Though his body looked good, lean and powerful before, now it was even more chiselled and had an aura of intimidation to it. All of his muscles on his body looked like they were sculpted by the gods. All in all, he looked like a banished immortal.
Rex clenched his fist experimentally, feeling the surge of newfound strength coursing through him. Not only did he obtain the constitution, it had evolved, though he didn't know what it had evolved into, hearing the benefits it brought conveyed by the flame in his inner world, he knew that it was very good.
Not only did it maintain both the abilities of the two flames which were his element and constitution, they were also enhanced. The new flame was an enhanced constitution which doubled as his element.
It was not only his constitution that had improved his cultivation had also improved. His cultivation talent improved from the previous grade F+ talent to,

Rex said with a smile on his face, sensing the increase of his talent via the sensing of mana from the surrounding. The constitution had enhanced not only his physical abilities but also his cultivation.

Though it was not much compared to his peak which was Spiritual Foundation Peak, it was indeed some progress rather than none. Yet something felt odd. A strange warmth lingered within him.

The drawback was that his emotions that he felt were strengthened and he had to put much more effort into controlling them. Compared to the benefits it had brought, it felt like a steal.
"Rex, are you in there, it's almost time for lunch"
Rex hearing the voice which was from Laura. He had already put away the sound isolation formation before he had went into the shower.
"Alright, coming Laura"
He walked out after wearing his clothes and saw Laura who was waiting for him.
"What were you doing in your room the whole mor....."
She was going to ask him a question but upon seeing his figure and appearance, she stopped stunned momentarily.
"I look a bit different?" Rex asked scratching his cheek.
"A bit, no you look very different"
"Though you look better, that's not the main thing"
Laura's expression grew sharper, her concern replacing her momentary awe.
"What happened? You were in there all morning, and I heard the sound of things falling over" "Are you hurt?"
Rex chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his neck as if trying to downplay her observation. "Ah, well, about that..."
Rex sighed, prepared for this conversation. He had expected questions and already decided what he would say.
"It's nothing too dangerous, Laura. Just... I had a bit of a breakthrough"
"A breakthrough?" she questioned, tilting her head slightly.
"Yes"
"It would have to start from before I came here, when I was injured, I also encountered...."
Rex continued his story of how he obtained his inheritance from an immortal, the story he had explained to his mother before.
After the story was finished, Laura's lips parted slightly as she digested his words, the information she had gained made her feel both joyful and concerned. Laura upon hearing the first part of the explanation nodded, understanding it but upon hearing the second part of the explanation had an itch to hit him. Though she knew that he was saying the truth as although his appearance changed, it was still in a range which was acceptable. It wasn't like his facial appearance changed but it just looked better than before along with his body becoming stronger.
But, it didn't stop her from wanting the urge to hit him. Afterall, he said it in an irritating narcissistic tone and the second being that she was also a bit envious of such a transformation.
She was a girl and she also wanted to become more beautiful. Even though she was already beautiful enough, there wasn't anything bad with becoming even more beautiful. Looking at his skin which was almost as good as her own, she really wanted to have a piece of this inheritance. Even so, that didn't come first as what she wanted to know,
"It's not something that doesn't comes without cost, right"
"Tell me, is it dangerous?"
Rex hesitated for a moment before answering.
"It's not exactly dangerous"
"When I received the inheritance, it was a bit painful, but it wasn't life threatening"
Laura narrowed her eyes, clearly not convinced.
"Then why did it sound like things were crashing in your room a few hours before?"
"Is it really not dangerous and life-threatening?"
Rex exhaled, his mind racing for the right response.
"The process of integrating the inheritance requires me to undergo certain... challenges"
"But they are not life-threatening and can only cause pain at the most"
"If it was at least this much difficulty, it wouldn't be a good inheritance would it"
"The immortal wouldn't necessarily want to kill his only inheritor after all"
"I promise, it's nothing to worry about."
"Nothing to worry about?"

Rex reached out and placed his hands on her shoulder as if to reassure her that it was fine.
"Laura, I understand why you're concerned, but I swear to you, I'm fine"
