The winds calmed down, the tornado sirens were further in the distance, and the dust settled. Harry thought with that insane move, both he and Lena were very lucky to be alive. Well, at least that was one thing which Harry had in common with his past lives.
The tornado sirens continued to piece the air, warning people to take cover. It showed that wherever they had been sent, they had been put closer to Smallville. Harry wanted to look around, but he looked at Lena. She looked completely shaken, her clothes slightly torn, and there had been a gash on the side of her head.
"I'm fine," Lena said. "I can feel my legs. And my arms. Just slight bruises. And the blood dripping down my head."
"Hold still," Harry said. "This might sting a little bit."
And by a little bit, Harry meant a whole lot. Still, it was better than trying to walk around with an ugly gash on the side of her head. Harry patched up Lena's injuries the best he could. He did a full scan to ensure everything was fine.
"Good news. No broken bones or organ damage. Some bumps, some bruises, some cuts, but you'll be fine. It could be worse."
"Yes, much worse."
Harry offered Lena a hand after he healed the cut on her head. At this point, Lena knew better than to question Harry on the things he did. They were amazing and they just did. Harry held Lena to her feet and helped her walk around for a few test steps.
"It's okay."
Lena gingerly pulled away from Harry and walked on her own accord. She finally got the ringing sensation out of her head, at the very least.
"It's here."
The disc laid on the ground in front of it. The thing which Lex, Lionel, and apparently Intergang had been interested, the missing piece to Harry's ship, and the thing which almost got them killed.
"It must have transported us here," Harry said.
"It reacted to your DNA," Lena said. "We must be here for a reason...wait a minute….do you think you can light the cave?"
Harry lifted his hand and a miniature glowing orb in his hand illuminated the cave. Lena got a good look at the cave drawings and understood it completely.
"This is it. We're in the cave which Lex has been studying. He was right about the connection, although obviously he was missing one vital ingredient to make it work."
Harry scanned the cave walls. Something about this place seemed as if it had a presence. Almost as if ghosts from some distant past called out for him. Harry wondered if this was an echo from his past as the Master of Death had caused this issue or if there was something else entirely.
"It transported us here,' Lena said.
"We know how. But why is the question?"
That was the million dollar question. Harry stepped over the disc. It felt like hot fire brushing against his fingers. He picked it up and nothing happened. At least nothing yet. Harry figured it would be the key to something. But what, that as the question?
The Tornado sirens calmed down. Kara bolted to Smallville High School. She stopped and saw many students in the hallway, with large books covering their heads. They pressed up against lockers.
"The tornado sirens have stopped. Everyone get back to class, single file, let's go!"
Kara just took a second to slip down the hallway and make her way into the Torch Office. She hoped that Chloe and Alex would be there. She heard the grumbling of the students coming down the hallway. Kara opened the door and saw Chloe and Alex come up from underneath the desk.
"Kara?" Alex asked her.
"Harry and Lena disappeared."
This statement caused a frown to pop over Alex's face. Chloe almost dropped the book she had been holding onto the floor.
"I think they touched the key. And it transported them off."
"Oh, the key, you mean that disc thing that Harry was tracking down? Chloe asked. "They touched it."
"I think I saw Harry go into the tornado after it and Lena was with him."
"Harry would...he he would, wouldn't he?"
Alex emphasized her words with a facepalm. She took a moment to calm herself down. Chloe moved over to hand her a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Need something more than this," Alex said.
"Yeah, and we would both be expelled if I stocked what you really need in the fridge in my office," Chloe said dryly. "Not that I blame you at all."
"Harry's got to be out there, Lena too," Alex said. "In case that thing transported them to where Krypton was and in that case, how are we going to find them?"
"Maybe they got transported back to the cellar with the ship," Chloe said.
"Already checked, not there," Kara said. "This is all my fault. I wasn't back quick enough when I got the Luthors out of there."
"Wait a minute, the Luthors? "Alex asked.
"Lex and Lionel were both injured by Intergang," Kara said. "And I was too slow to reach Harry."
"This isn't your fault," Alex said. "We need to...we need to find him, wherever he is. He has to be somewhere on Earth, doesn't he?"
"Yes," Chloe said. "You tracked down the disc once before, didn't you?"
Kara nodded in response and then looked very thoughtful.
"That's not a bad idea. If I wasn't sure my tracker was almost fried. Once I salvaged the crystals from the ship, it was not going to be a very long-lived tracker. And I think it's out of energy."
"Maybe," Alex said. "You hadn't thrown it away, have you?"
"No," Kara said.
Kara decided not to mention that throwing away alien technology would not be a good idea. Alex grabbed Kara's shoulder and pulled her back into the conversation.
"I have an idea."
Kara decided to listen.
Lena and Harry moved down into the caves. The tornado sirens continued to go outside. They moved down to study some of the cave paintings. Harry clutched the disc tight, vowing not to lose it this time. However, as they moved closer into the caves, they came across something more interesting than any cave paintings.
An attractive dark-haired woman with an olive skinned complexion appeared. Her athletic body had been on full showcase, as she wore a black tank top, cut off jean shorts to showcase her sexy legs, and also had her hair clipped back. She looked at the paintings and turned to Harry for a second. Her eyes widened.
"Hello, we're here to explore…."
"We have awaited your return for some time, great one! At least, reincarnated into a new form. The harbinger of a new age of prosperity for the entire world!"
Her gushing tone caught Harry slightly off guard. Lena looked amused and leaned over to Harry.
"Kawatchee."
Right, Harry recalled reading of the Kawatchee tribe. And the division between them, of half wanting to keep to themselves and the others wanting to explore the world and not be so secluded. This particularly lovely lady sank to her knees before Harry.
"You can rise to your feet."
Harry framed it as a suggestion, but the lovely Native woman rose up to him. She subconsciously licked her lips, which drew attention to them.
"I'm afraid I have not had the pleasure of an introduction Ms…."
"Kyla….Kyla Willowbrook. I've always loved exploring these caves. And when the tornado came, it was the first place I thought to seek shelter. I had a feeling I should be here, but I never imagined that you would show up in the flesh. It has been too long, great one and it would be an honor of any self-respecting Kawatchee woman to serve Naman."
Harry leaned closer towards her and looked her in the eye.
"Your support is appreciated. But in this form, could you call me, Harry?"
"Anything you wish," Kyla said. "It's an honor to meet you. And I want to get to you know."
"My name is Lena," she said.
"Another devoted follower?" Kyla asked.
"More like a high priestess," Lena said.
Harry raised an eyebrow at Lena's words, and Lena just gave him a smile, as if to tell him to just go with it. Harry decided to go with it.
"It's been some time since I've visited these caves," Harry said. "If you would honor me with a tour, you would have my eternal gratitude."
"Follow me," Kyla said.
Lena and Harry followed her. Lena had been milking this a bit more than Harry had, but Harry had been intrigued about what the Kawatchee believed. And he had another woman who he could take to bed and rock her world, which would make her more devoted to him than any legend.
"I'm honored that you would give me a chance to work with such amazing technology."
Patricia had been particularly bubbling at the thought. Kara, Chloe, and Alex, under many normal circumstances, would have been slightly amused, if things had not been so serious.
"I figured you would have the equipment here to get Kara's tracker boosted," Alex said. "Lena and Harry, we're not quite sure where they are."
"Hopefully, they're better off than Lex and Lionel are right now."
"How so?"
Patricia spent a few minutes getting all of the possible equipment set up. Once she was sure everything was in place, she answered Chloe's question.
"Lex has been shot by some goons. Lionel was injured although it was more due to debris from the tornado. Someone pulled him out of the house, both of them in fact."
Patricia continued to hook up pieces of equipment. She made sure the surge protector had been in place, because the last thing she needed to do was blow every computer in the facility. Alex and Kaara gave her hand.
"So, that's reached the news," Kara said.
"Talking about how the Smallville savior rescued them again."
Kara thought that name was, well it was a bit much. Fitting, for sure, but a little bit much. She took her mind off of those thoughts and gave Patricia a helping hand to continue hooking up the equipment.
"A lot of people were found in the wreckage," Patricia said. "The rumor is they were mobsters. And also one of them had been a reporter known as Roger Nixon."
"Nixon?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah, although he's not missed by many, if the rumors are true," Patricia said.
Thankfully the tornados had cleared off. Patricia snapped all of the equipment into place. Chloe, Alex, and Kara waited for it.
"So, is this going to work? I think this might be slotting a round peg into a square hole."
Patricia understood Chloe's concerns. She took every step to ensure that they were going to go forward without any problems.
"Tracker, please?"
Kara took the tracker. Patricia carefully slotted it around and could feel something happening. A spark caused the tracker to come to light. The energy caused the lab to glow up.
Nervously, Kara waited. She had her hands ready to reach for the other three and speed them out of the way, in case the crystal exploded. Thankfully, a security shield wrapped around the crystal and prevented too much energy from leaking. She marveled out how far STAR Labs came with its technology.
"Not too bad," Kara said.
"Might be primitive to what you have back home," Patricia said.
"Still not too bad...we have something!"
So they did. Patricia, Kara, Chloe, and Alex all lined up to get a good look at what the tracker spit out on the screen.
"The thing you're tracking it's in the midst of a set of caves in lands belonging to the Kawatchee tribe."
"Why would Harry be brought there?" Alex asked.
"Well, it's a good thing that he's not been sent to the remains of a dead alien planet."
"The radioactive remains," Alex said with a shudder.
Patricia turned off the tracker. The crystals slightly decayed and hissed from the odd way they created the tracker. Kara figured that the tracker would not be usable again. She wondered what Patricia had in mind as she went to the shelf and scooped up a book in her arms.
"I knew it," Patricia said. "My father told me of this legend. Of the Naman."
She showed them a book. Chloe whistled when looking at it.
"Uncanny resemblance is uncanny," Chloe remarked.
"The battle suit looks Kryptonian in it's design," Kara said. "Although, I don't know about the ring."
"The legends are unclear," Patricia said. "But, you'll find Harry somewhere in those caves."
"Great!" Alex claimed with a clap of her hands. "Thanks, Patricia, you've been a big help."
Patricia flashed a smile towards her cousin and friends as they walked off. She had been part of the group after all and was happy to help out when at all possible. She hoped they located Harry and Lena. Although, they might have stumbled into something interesting.
The paintings in the cave looked pretty pristine for something which was painted hundreds of years ago. Kyla pointed out one of the paintings there.
"There's your triumphant battle with your enemy, Sageeth."
Lena's lips curled into a frown. She took a good look look at Sageeth and noticed that Naman's depiction was not the only thing that had an uncanny resemblance to a familiar face.
"A battle which led to both of our temporary ends," Harry said.
"Right," Kyla said. "I remember the story. My grandfather told me when I was old enough to understand. The two of you, you were allies. Then Sageeth turned on Naman, out of some kind of misguided notion that he was going to save the world."
"Those with the best intentions, often go amiss."
"He did believe you were a threat," Kyla recalled from the story. "If you came back, there is a chance you could return. There could be salvation or there could be damnation."
"Let's hope for the last one."
Kyla threw herself out. They made their way progressively closer to the exit to the cave. Harry sensed Lena deep in thought about something, and to be honest, he had similar thoughts himself.
"Our caves are being threatened," Kyla told him. "By people who want to purchase the land and renovate the inside of the caves. The elders are holding out, but they won't be around forever. And some are going to make a deal. They want these caves and all of their resources."
Harry sensed a twinge of a despondent tone in Kyla's voice.
"That's not happening," Lena said.
"We can protect the caves," Harry said. "From those with outside interests that conflict with the Kawatchee people. In exchange for protecting it."
"Of course."
Kyla threw her arms around Harry. She stopped a few inches away from kissing him and respectfully pulled back. Lena winked at her as she edged back.
"It is yours by divine right. But the fact you just asked, it shows your excellence."
Kyla, Harry, and Lena left the cave. An old man came from the village below.
"Grandfather, this is…."
"Yes, I know who it is," Kyla's grandfather said. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"An honor as well, Professor Willowbrook," Lena said. "I'm Lena, and...if you don't mind, he's called Harry, when he's...incognito. He's just getting a lay of the land."
"You're one of his then?" Professor Willowbrook asked her. "There were these young ladies who were asking for a Harry. They are waiting just down this hill."
Harry walked down. There were several women who eyed Kyla with a bit of awe and in envy as well. Harry moved around the corner.
"It appears you have already gotten started in this new life, and acquired many companions. My granddaughter no doubt will have some competition for your attention."
Harry turned his attention to Kara, Alex, Chloe, and Patricia. Kara rushed past all of them and threw her arms around Harry a few seconds later. Alex, Chloe, and Patricia decided to greet him in similar manners.
"Are you insane?" Alex asked him.
"Yes," Harry said. "I do have multiple girlfriends."
Chloe just broke out into laughter and nudged Alex playfully with her elbow.
"He's got you there."
"Ladies, this is Kyla Willowbrook and her grandfather, Professor Joseph Willowbrook," Harry said. "Kyla, Professor, this is my cousin, Kara, Alex Danvers, Chloe Sullivan, and Patricia Swann."
"Yes, a pleasure to meet you all," Professor Willowbrook said.
"I will be back to further discuss certain matters," Harry said. "Lena as well. And to catch up with my girlfriends."
"Until we meet again," Kyla said. "Or perhaps I will come into town and meet you."
Harry produced a slip of paper with his address and passed it to Kyla. He paused and planted a brief kiss on her cheek. Kyla had been standing there, much to the amusement of several more.
"Only you could fall out of a tornado and practically fall into the lap of a beautiful woman," Alex said. "She's hot though."
"Yes, she is," Harry said. "And eager to serve."
"Mmm hmm."
"And technically I didn't fall out of a tornado. The disc transported me here. I'll fill you in on our way. Lena should get checked out further. I did the best job I could, but your mother is a doctor."
Harry waited outside in Eliza's office, to see if Lena was one hundre percent well. About the only thing Harry could not magically check for was a concussion and while Lena seemed normal enough, Harry was not a doctor. The news had been playing in the waiting room.
"Fortune smiled on Lex Luthor today. Mr. Luthor survived his near fatal shooting and was fortunate enough to be plucked out of Luthor Mansion thanks to a mysterious do-gooder. Both Lex and his father Lionel are currently under close observation, and the rumors that they were involved in a dispute against a rival businessman just moments before the tornado hit leads to spectacular..."
Harry knew what it led to speculation about. The truth, as it usually was, was more fantastic than any fantasy. Harry stepped around the corner and almost ran headlong into a dark-haired woman. Gorgeous, completely stunning, could catch a guy's attention. Alex's statement about how Harry could walk around the corner with his eye shut and bump into a woman rang very true.
Regardless, Harry caught her and held her up.
"Oh, watch where you're going you…."
For a second, the woman stopped and caught a good look at Harry. Like so many woman, she got lost in la-la land when looking into Harry's eyes.
"My name is Harry. Harry Kent."
"Oh," she said. "Sorry, you must be the Harry that Doctor Danvers gushes about. Sorry, I'm a bit short with you. It's just that I was caught in traffic and there are a lot of idiots on the road that don't know how to drive. I have a temper problem,, it's been that way. I've been taking anger management classes three nights a week and I don't think they help...as much as that."
Harry rubbed the woman's neck and shoulders.
"My girlfriends say I have magic fingers."
"They're right," she breathed. "Wait, girlfriends"
A shiver came down her back. So good, so very good, those fingers moving back and forth in all of the right ways and dazzling her constantly.
"So, do you have a name, gorgeous?"
"Damn thing you're so good with your hands, because I would slap you for that."
"Temper, temper."
"Funny," she said. "My name is Helen Bryce. I'm helping Eliza, she's mentoring me. And you should stop doing that before I do something that gets me into hot water."
Harry smiled and left the seed firmly planted in her mind.
"Pleased to meet you, Doctor Bryce."
"Please, it's Helen," she said. "And you have gorgeous eyes. I'm not sure if anyone ever told you that."
"Yes, a few people."
"Hope to see you again soon," Helen said.
"Well, we might run into each other."
The moment Harry stepped around, Lena exited the office.
"Alexandra's right. You can't be left alone for twenty minutes without you charming some woman."
"Yes," Harry said. "So, how did things go?"
"No problems," Lena said. "We were both very lucky."
Lena leaned over and briefly laid a light kiss on Harry's lips. It had been a promise. A little taste-test if you will.
"I've got some calls to make. Especially with my father and brother currently out of commission. I'll talk to you soon."
Harry returned to the basement along with the key. Chloe, Alex, and Kara all walked between him.
"So, are we going to do this?" Chloe asked.
"Harry?"
The worry in Kara's voice made Harry hesitate. He turned around towards her. The piece of metal which belonged to the ship began to vibrate in his hands.
"The ship, it's yours and your legacy," Kara said. "I'm just concerned with what might happen if you put that key in the ship. I have no idea what Jor-El had in store for you."
"She has a point," Alex said.
"I agree," Harry said. "It's not just that. There's some very strange harmonic vibrations which are coming from this key. I have a feeling if I put the key in the ship, something bad is going to happen and none of us are going to like the results."
"So, after all that, you're not going to take that step forward."
Chloe's question had been an obvious one. Slowly, Harry flipped the disc in his hand. It almost dragged its way into the ship before Harry stopped it. He flipped the disc over and waved his hand. An energy field appeared around the disc and trapped it into place. While it stopped moving, not being in close proximity to the ship, Harry would take no challenges.
"Well, I guess that's why," Chloe said. "At least it's out of Lex's hands. Although I guess other things are out of Lex's hands."
"Don't worry about your father," Harry said. "He'll bounce back."
"I know," Chloe said. "It's just that he was excited about this transfer. And to see Lionel pull the rug out from underneath him, he's a real piece of work."
"That's putting things mildly," Alex commented.
It was again. Harry ensured the piece of the ship had been secured. Speaking of Luthors, he got a message.
"Be back later," Harry said. "Just….I'll lock the cellar behind us."
"Probably for the best," Kara agreed.
Harry swept into the Luthor Mansion to check out things. The tornado really did a number on the place. He heard a cop car move off in the distance.
"I know. It's a sight for sore eyes. But, it could be worse."
Lex stepped around the debris. Harry could tell that he had been having a very long and intense conversation with some officers of the law. Other than that, Lex had some good species.
"Everything is accounted for," Lex said. "My father, we'll see what happens with him. He's going to come back stronger than ever to spite us all."
"So, everything was still in the Mansion despite the Tornado?" Harry asked.
"Everything important. Well, except for one little thing in the Mansion."
It was here where Lex's expression turned to one that was kind of despondent. Harry could see where it was going.
"It's funny. First mobsters rush me, my father's asking a lot of questions, and then after all that, it's some force of nature who plucks this strange piece of metal out of the sky."
"A piece of metal?" Harry asked.
He knew precisely what Lex was talking about. However, it was essentially for Harry to fish for details and figure out everything that Lex knew about this.
"Yes," Lex agreed. "It's crazy, I know. But, I have a feeling that it could unlock the secrets of this town and explain pretty much everything that's been happening in Smallville for around the past decade. But, I guess that's the least of my worries right now."
"I heard about the Plant. And Chloe…."
"Yes, I know she must be worried," Lex said. "But, don't worry. Despite Lionel coming in and trying to take control of my destiny, I'm not going to let it happen. I found someone. They'll be fine."
"Did you sell your shares to Lena?"
"Well, I threatened my father with it," Lex said with a dark chuckle. "No, it wasn't necessarily my shares, but my mother's and it gave me the Capital to hopefully start fresh. I'm going to buy out Lionel's interest. If he refuses, well the shareholders will raise hell."
Harry almost marveled at Lex's way of putting his father into a corner. Although a small part of Harry thought that Lionel would going to come back and bite him.
"Lionel will wish he didn't pull his power play," Lex said. "And...my attorney's called me. Got to take this one."
Harry let Lex drift away. Well, things would be interesting. Lex believed the disc had been pulled away in the storm and it was not something which Harry would correct him on.
Kyla joined Harry for lunch. A certain lovely blonde waitress popped her head around the table. Her eyes drifted towards Harry.
"Another one?"
"Yes, Imra," Harry said. "You know that offer for lunch still stands. Although, you seem to be working about every time that I'm here."
"Well, I have to pay for College," Imra said. "Those books aren't cheap."
"Yes," Harry said. "That makes sense. Although one would think that you're stalking me."
"No. Although I am very lucky to serve you."
"Something many women would say."
"If there's anything else that I can get you, let me know."
"Will do."
Imra slipped away from the table. Kayla took a bite out of the food and chewed it. She looked rather thoughtful.
"You mentioned there were some problems," Harry said. "Between various factions of the tribe."
Kyla finished eating and licked her lips.
"Yes. There's been a lot of argument between the younger, more brash members of the tribe and the elders. The younger ones want to sell out to Lionel Luthor. They don't have any pride in the legacy of the tribe. The elders won't have it. My grandfather is about as progressive as any of them, but even he can see Lionel's the same type of smug snake who will just drive us out of her homes."
Harry put his hand on Kyla's and calmed her down. Her eyes glowed and there appeared to be something feral flashing through them. She calmed down a second later.
"And your return, it stirred some fire between both sides."
"I do that often," Harry said. "My promise still stands. Eliza, Lena, and myself will be meeting with your people soon enough. If it isn't Lionel, there are other threats in this town who want to drive you off the land. There's some people who think there are resources underneath the tribal land they could sell."
"That's absurd, there isn't anything there and there hasn't been there in years," Kyla said.
"Greed empowers everyone."
Kyla responded with a nod.
"Thank you for showing me around a little bit," Kyla said. 'I've been secluded, I haven't gone outside of the Kawatchee lands. And there's a lot of Smallville, which is unknown."
'I've done some exploring," Harry said. "Anything you want to see, I'll be happy to tell you the best I can."
"Right," Kyla said. "I've...got to get back. I'm sure the other women will bombard me with questions."
Kyla finished up her meal and reached to pay for it. Harry stopped her.
"It's on me," Harry said. "You're my guest."
"As always, you are generous, N….Harry."
It was Harry when they were out among the people. Kyla figured that beautiful blonde waitress who served them would not be the only one.
"See you tonight?" Harry asked.
"I'll meet you at the farm," Kyla said. "Tonight."
Slowly, Harry leaned in and gave Kyla a parting kiss. He most certainly encouraged Kyla to stick around tonight. A woman like that, he could not wait to get to know a bit more intimately.
Harry took a trip back to Lena's penthouse. Now that he did not have to go around the long way, he could get their quickly. He knocked on the door and it opened up. Lena stood there, dressed in a silken robe. She had a towel as well.
"Got out of the shower," Lena said. "You're about five minutes late."
"Pity. Going to have been a bit earlier. I was wrapping up lunch with Kyla."
"Oh, and did she stick around long enough for dessert?" Lena asked him.
"She'll be back tonight," Harry told her. "So, did you hear that Lex sold out his mother's shares to some mysterious person?"
"I admit, I would have bailed him out, if he asked," Lena said. "But, I'm glad that he went an alternate route. I've got more than enough things to worry about dealing with whatever power game Lex and Lionel are going for. Especially now that Lionel's claiming he can't see due to injuries from the tornado."
Harry just frowned and could sense the skepticism for her.
"Lex has been guilted into taking care of our father, because apparently it's his fault," Lena said. "That Intergang was there in the first place and Lionel was as well. But never mind my family's sordid affairs. I've been waiting for something for a long time."
Lena closed the gap between the two of them for a kiss. Harry pulled her in and kissed Lena back passionately. They had some tender moments of affection, but this was their first full blown, passionate kiss.
Slowly, Harry's hand pulled down onto her.
"I hoped to be your first, but that opportunity passed due to my own choices," Lena said. "But, I would like to be partners with you, in every sense of the word."
Casually, Lena undid the sash of her robe. She revealed a lacy green corset, thong, stockings and a garter. Lena leaned in and slowly ran her hand down Harry's body. She moved in and kissed his neck before closing in on his ear.
"You know green is my favorite color."
Lena slid in and could feel Harry's growing excitement. Harry pulled Lena closer and the two kissed each other with growing excitement just bubbling between the two of them.
Thankfully, Lena had been able to push the door open to the master bedroom before Harry completely overwhelmed her senses.
