Meng Bei knew that convincing someone with words alone was difficult, but if he could get Tang San to see the truth for himself, Tang San would believe it without question.
With this strategy in mind, Meng Bei devised a plan:
He would orchestrate events so Tang San would witness the innocence between himself and Xiao Wu, dispelling all suspicions.
Not only would this resolve Tang San's doubts about Xiao Wu, but it would also allow Meng Bei to explain his rapidly increasing soul power.
Meng Bei put on a confident expression and turned to Tang San.
"Brother San, I can't explain the details about me and Xiao Wu just yet, but I promise you this: by the end of this month, I'll give you a full explanation that will satisfy you!"
Meng Bei placed his hands on Tang San's shoulders, bowing deeply.
"Brother San, please trust me!"
Tang San hesitated.
Meng Bei's sincerity was hard to ignore, and when he thought about it logically, Xiao Wu truly had no reason to betray him.
Moreover, Xiao Wu was Meng Bei's sister—how could the two possibly end up together?
"Could there really be more to this than I'm seeing?" Tang San thought to himself.
Since the end of the month was only ten days away, Tang San finally gritted his teeth and nodded.
"Fine, I'll trust you this once!"
"Thank you, Brother San!" Meng Bei replied gratefully.
After Tang San left, Meng Bei waited a few moments before heading toward Xiao Wu's dormitory, carefully ensuring Tang San would notice.
By this time, Tang San had just struggled back to his own dormitory.
But as he sat down, he saw Meng Bei's figure rush past his window—heading straight toward Xiao Wu's dormitory.
"What?!"
Tang San shot to his feet, ignoring the pain.
He quickly followed, trailing Meng Bei as best as he could.
Meng Bei, aware of Tang San following him, felt relieved that his plan was working.
When he reached Xiao Wu's dormitory, he found her lying on her bed, still asleep.
"Looks like I really wore her out yesterday," Meng Bei thought, shaking his head as he approached her.
"Xiao Wu, wake up!"
Xiao Wu groggily opened her eyes, her expression turning panicked the moment she saw Meng Bei.
"No, not today! I can't handle it again!" she blurted out.
Meng Bei quickly hushed her, leaning in to whisper. He explained how Tang San had visited him earlier, laying out the details of his plan.
As Xiao Wu listened, her panic grew.
"This is bad. If Brother San finds out the truth, he'll never forgive me! What should I do?"
Meng Bei continued speaking softly, outlining his plan.
As Xiao Wu listened, her eyes began to brighten, though she hesitated.
"But wouldn't this be too unfair to Brother San?" she asked, conflicted.
Meng Bei pressed further:
"Xiao Wu, you don't want the truth to come out, do you?"
Xiao Wu stiffened.
"And don't you want to keep being the perfect Xiao Wu in Tang San's eyes?"
After a moment of silence, Xiao Wu reluctantly agreed.
Outside, Tang San had finally arrived at Xiao Wu's dormitory, his injuries slowing him down.
Not wanting to alert them, he decided to eavesdrop from the corner of the building.
Meng Bei, aware of Tang San's presence, gave Xiao Wu a signal, and the two began acting out a scene using deliberately ambiguous dialogue.
"Xiao Wu, let's start now!" Meng Bei said in a suggestive tone.
"Wait, Xiao Bei! You're too impatient. Didn't we agree to wait until 2 a.m. when no one's around?"
"No, Xiao Wu. Tang San is starting to suspect us. I promised him I'd give him an explanation by the end of the month. We don't have time to wait anymore!"
"What? He's already suspicious? It's my fault—I let something slip yesterday because I was so tired from everything you put me through."
"It's not your fault, Xiao Wu. I pushed you too hard last night."
Inside, the two continued their back-and-forth, painting a picture that drove Tang San to the brink of madness.
Tang San's veins bulged as anger surged through him. The implications of their conversation were unbearable.
"That's my Xiao Wu! How could he…?!"
He clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug into his palms, drawing blood.
Suddenly, he heard Xiao Wu's soft voice again.
"Not now, Xiao Bei, please don't!"
Tang San's fury peaked as Xiao Wu's voice carried through the air, but her next words made him freeze in place.
"I can't do this tonight. I'm still too exhausted from last night. Let's wait until tomorrow, okay?"
Tang San's mind reeled.
*How could Xiao Wu say such things?!*
But her next words hit him even harder.
"I'll come find you tomorrow night, okay? Bye-bye!" she said sweetly, her tone full of affection.
Tang San was trembling with rage, his heart burning like molten lava.
Yet, he held back.
He realized that bursting in now would only result in more lies and deflections. If he wanted undeniable proof, he needed to catch them in the act.
Tang San decided to wait.
He hid near Xiao Wu's dormitory, enduring the biting cold of the night and the relentless bites of mosquitoes. His injuries throbbed, and blood seeped through his bandages.
Hours passed—8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m.—and still, there was no movement from Xiao Wu.
Finally, at 2 a.m., Xiao Wu emerged.
She was dressed in short shorts and white stockings, moving stealthily as she left her room.
Tang San's eyes turned blood-red.
"It's exactly as I thought," he seethed. *"Let's see how you explain this now!"*
Despite his injuries, Tang San followed Xiao Wu as closely as he could, though he struggled to keep pace.
But it didn't matter—he knew her destination.
Meng Bei's dormitory.
When Tang San arrived at Meng Bei's single dormitory, he crept into the courtyard and approached the window, which was left slightly ajar.
Peering inside, the sight before him made his blood boil.
