18 Years Later, Planet Earth
Veer's eyes were not moving away from the golden locks of hair flying in the breeze of the fan. Looking at those big black eyes, rosy, pink lips and that golden shining skin, peeking from behind those locks, Veer was unable to hear the noise before the period started in the crowded class.
Veer, a handsome young man of 18 years, was sitting holding his seat, looking at Priya, as if the seat is released, he will be flung in the air like a spring. The beats of his heart were racing like the mutual fund advertisement on TV, as if it was saying, romantic relationships are a subject to social risk, please read the girl before proposing, but his heart doesn't agree. Veer could not control himself anymore and he takes out a red rose and a pink colored card from his bag pack and slowly goes and stands in front of Priya, seeing this the whole class becomes quiet as if a teacher has come. Veer gathers courage and extends the rose towards Priya and says, "I love you, Priya."
Priya looks at him and pushes him away from her and says in a low voice while clenching her teeth, "Shut up and look behind." Veer feels very strange, he wants to move ahead in love and his lover is saying look behind, and while he is thinking this, a heavy voice diverts his attention. "Oh hero, lover boy, come and sit on your seat, the result has to be announced." Now Veer realizes that the class had really gone quiet after seeing the teacher.
A student sitting at the desk where Veer was standing while proposing to Priya mocks Veer, "Brother, there is a limit to being stupid. One would die after hearing such a threat from the teacher". Hearing himself being mocked Veer just sits at the desk to wait for the results declaration from the teacher.
"Now everybody has passed in the mathematics exam and some of you have performed excellently, except one student, Veer, you will stay here after the class is over." This second threat from the math's teacher was really deadly. Everyone started laughing, even Priya. Veer felt as if the ship of his dreams was sinking in the sea of his embarrassment. Who would've thought that the love letter that he wrote on the paper of life with the pen of kindness, would be ruined by the equations of mathematics. The timing of the announcement of the result couldn't have been worse than this, poor Veer. He felt that Priya was the one laughing at him the most in the class, just then the mathematics teacher came and stands right over Veer's head and throws a paper in front of him saying, "Tomorrow I need your parents' signature on this performance report understood, you loggerhead." Then a hard laugh is heard and again the loudest voice is that of Priya saying, " You loggerhead. hahahahaha...", Priya's smile which used to make flowers bloom in the garden of Veer's mind, the same smile was setting his heart on fire today. Veer was unable to tolerate it anymore and he gets up and goes out of the class, poor Veer, even a daily soap heroine of TV serial does not face so many problems as he had today, there is not much difference between mathematics and love, both of them are complicated, that's why he failed in both. Now he has to get the report signed by the parents as well, there is mom (Saanvi) and sister (Anuja) at home, as his dad (Aditya) is no more, someone had murdered him due to business rivalry since then maybe Veer had stopped being able to concentrate on his studies.
"Hey, today you came very early", Veer had just put one leg inside the house when Saanvi (his mom) fired a question like firing a bullet, as if Veer was crossing not the doorstep of home but the country's border, Veer was also ready and he counter fired, "Hey mom, do you know what happened today?"
Saanvi got confused as to what had happened, before she could ask anything Veer spoke, "Hey Mom, there's a ruckus in school, and in the ruckus, some people came to beat our Mathematics teacher", Saanvi's lines of worry became deeper, Veer then said, "Everyone was saying that he is having an affair with some woman", "Hey, but he is married, he's a good man, right" Saanvi expressed worry.
"That's why Mom, you know everything about him, very good, now just sign on this paper." Veer played a trick, cleverly putting the performance report in front of his mother. "What is this paper?", Saanvi asked. Veer cleverly replies, " It is the character certificate of the mathematics teacher, Mom, this has to be signed by all the children and their parents and have to be given back to sir, otherwise our Dean Sir will fire the mathematics teacher from his job." Saying this Veer started looking at his mother carefully to see if his trick works or not, but like every time it also worked today as Saanvi signed the papers quickly.
As soon as the papers were signed Veer disappeared just like the Sage Narad disappears after the work in the mythos series is done. Well, one problem solved Veer takes a sigh of relief and falls down on the bed in his room. Looking at Veer's room it seemed as if the World War II was fought in this room. Saanvi and Anuja were strictly forbidden to enter this room, so nobody could even enter the room to clean it. Veer put earphones in his ears and put on religious music or bhajan to soothe his nerves then suddenly in the middle of that music a voice was heard "Veer son," this voice was familiar. Veer got scared but before he could say or do anything, from the screen of his mobile, Doctor Khurana's hologram pops out like a popcorn. Seeing the hologram suddenly appear on his phone, Veer drops the mobile from his hand and falls down. "Hey, hey, will you give me a heart attack uncle?" Veer shouts irritated. Doctor Khurana's hologram now grows to Veer's height and Veer shouts again "You can't barge into my life like this whenever you want."
Dr. Khurana shows concern understanding his feelings and says, "Son, your father was my very good friend, and I am alive today because of him. That's why I feel very sad seeing his son fail in mathematics."
Hearing this Veer stutters " You-? How did you know about my mathematics result?" and gets flustered.
Khurana replies slowly, "Son, you know I am a scientist, right? No computer system is beyond my reach, I keep track of the happenings of your life, and it is my duty, maybe by doing this I can return favors done by your dad somewhat. Son, I genuinely wish to help you in some way, if you want, I can tutor you in mathematics so that you don't fail in it." Dr. Khurana told Veer about his feelings, but these words had no meaning for 18-year-old Veer. At this age, freedom is more preferred by teenager than knowledge.
Dr. Khurana seeing Veer not replying and ignoring the tutoring suggestion says, "Son, if you are not interested in studies, then it is okay, I can even give you a job in my lab, if you want, you can start earning money right now. And you will get to learn about new things son. Do you know son our earth is not the only planet that has life. Truly, there are other planets with life."
Hearing his uncle's suggestion Veer mumbles, "My planetary position in my horoscope is not good here and uncle is teaching me about other planets." Veer thought, "How do I get rid of this uncle?" Now he has understood that it was not so easy to get rid of Dr. Khurana. So, he looked here and there in the room and picked up his mobile and put it in the fishbowl kept nearby. Along with the buzzing mobile, Dr. Khurana's hologram also stopped. Veer shook his hands as if a big disaster had been averted. But today he will have to dry his mobile under the table lamp again.
