Chapter 10 - Finding info

Urging the floating fireball to dim its light so that it wouldn't burn the whole hut down, Zephyr lay down on the soft bed he had made from leaves and moss. He attempted to read, though the characters in the book were unfamiliar. Miraculously, however, he could still understand them.

"It's my Translation Skill coming in clutch," he muttered, nodding to himself. He focused on the title of the first book: The Primer of Vorallis: Secrets of Lands and Lore.

"Hmm, this looks like an introductory book—just what I need," Zephyr mused. His eyes gleamed with curiosity as he deduced that the world he was in was called Vorallis.

With expectant eyes, Zephyr began reading. As he analyzed the words, he found that his reading and comprehension speed had improved considerably. "I guess this is due to my Intelligence stat," he thought, observing how easily the information flowed.

An hour passed, and Zephyr paused, closing his eyes to recall and process everything he had just read.

"So, the world is called Vorallis," he began, mentally organizing the details. "There are seven main continents, each ruled by different races. The human continent is ruled by humans, obviously. Syltheris is ruled by elves, Drakaryn by dragons, Durakmar by dwarves, Zyphora by demihumans, Abyssalum by demons, Celestia by angels, and finally, there's the Forbidden Continent."

Zephyr paused, reflecting on the human continent's bland name. "Why is it so basic? Who the hell names a place like that? Even I could cook up a better name that that!" thought Zephyyr with a smirk.

As he continued reading, he discovered that magic existed in this world. Apparently, humans were only moderately talented at magic, relying on incantations and lengthy mana meditation sessions to cast spells and jmprove their rank. Despite not being that powerful individually, humans made up for it with their numbers and adaptability.

"Dwarves can't use mana in their bodies," Zephyr mused. "They rely on their creations to gain strength. They're born crafters."

"Elves, though... they're children of the forest with high mana aptitude. Some high elves can cast magic without incantations at all," Zephyr added, grinning. "I can already do that."

"Demihumans can't use magic, but they can harness something called aura—similar to mana but only able to survive inside the body. Humans can also use aura, and those who can wield it outside their bodies to achieve telekinesis are considered legendary."

"Demons use something called demonic energy, a corrupted version of mana, and angels use holy power," Zephyr noted.

As for dragons, they were described as legendary beings who could will mana to obey their commands. Some ancient dragons even possessed Ether, a mysterious energy that allowed them to wield primordial elements like Null. According to the book, dragons were the most powerful species in Vorallis. Zephyr found it interesting that dragons didn't interfere in matters outside their continent, making them an incredibly feared race. Despite wars between continents, even when conflicts broke out, no one dared to challenge the dragons.

Zephyr continued reading, intrigued by the description of the Forbidden Continent. No one truly knew what lay there, as numerous species and empires had sent expeditions, only for most of them to never return. The few survivors spoke of towering trees, some reaching into the sky, unexplainable phenomena, and terrifyingly powerful monsters. Very few dared to venture there, and those who did were usually archmages or legendary swordsmen.

The description of the Forbidden Continent felt awfully similiar to Zephyr. He looked out from his hut, a wry smile on his face. "Of course, this is the Forbidden Continent," he said, his voice both exhausted and amused.

After a few moments, he looked back at the map provided in the book, using the features he had just read about to attempt to scale it. Based on the proportions and the terrain, Zephyr concluded that the planet he was currently on had sixteen times the surface area earth.
