The sound of a gentle yet forceful knock on my door manages to wake me out of my trance. My heart naturally quickens. I don't have to speculate as to its identity. Around here, just one individual moves with that calculated precision.
I shout, attempting to keep my voice calm, "Come in."
Alexander enters through the open door with a leather-bound folder in his hand. My copy of the agreement. His tie is a little loose, which is an uncommon indication of anything less than faultless, but his suit is as spotless as ever. He looks around the room for a moment and then at me.
"Am I disturbing you?" His dark eyes are searching, but his tone is bland and courteous.
"No," I respond, sitting up straight on the bed's edge. "What do you need?"
