Chapter 88 - Magic classes part 2

In the second part of the prophetic class, we were taken to a dark room where our vision and hearing completely disappeared. Inside that room, the teachers would frequently hit all the students with a wooden stick, causing great pain to all who were blind and deaf. The reason for this method was to inspire a prophetic instinct in the students regarding danger. Something like a sixth sense, or even a battle instinct. The longer a magician lived, the stronger his soul became. Awakening this instinct for danger was something natural that would come with time for people with powerful souls, but not everyone had a long life ahead of them and needed this ability as soon as possible.

Therefore, the prophetic magic class quickly became the most popular. That same day, the first domestication class, which was the strong point of the Garden of Beasts, was slightly overshadowed, and the students kept laughing at each other and complaining about the pain and bruises they had on their bodies. It didn't help that in the first domestication class, the teacher's lack of charisma and his teaching methods, which in the first class were very rudimentary since he taught how to domesticate animals without using skills. Of course, I would only learn later that such methods had their value for this type of magic...

And so the third day arrived, at the new Order meeting, we decided to hold a recruitment test. We currently had few apprentices, but we didn't have enough resources to recruit many. We sent invitations to all the students who were disqualified on the first day, informing them of the recruitment that the Order of the Sages would hold, and we left Vitarys in charge of getting the data on the numbers obtained by these students in the Garden of Beasts. And Zaya would send invitations to the Yun brothers, Liu and his family, Elowen and also Natasha. These students would not need to take any test and could join directly. If anyone from the tower wanted to participate and join the Order, I would simply spread rumors about the test. The best ones to qualify in the test in 1 month could also join. The person responsible for the rumors was the most social person in the Order; Zhang. It had only been 3 days since we joined the Beast Garden and he had already thrown a small party in the cafeteria at night, inviting several "senior brothers" from the tower and some other prominent figures who had recently joined. No matter where he went, all the other students now called him Brother Zhang.

On my mission today, we had a problem that made our task take almost the entire morning. One of the cubs would not go into the cell even after we tried everything and we were very close to running out of bait. It was only after throwing human food including some high-quality red meat that the little one went into the cell, I felt a great loss, but in the end everything went well. Thanks to this, I barely had time to eat lunch before the afternoon classes started. We had the Special Plant Cultivation class, which taught us how to cultivate several rare plants that needed specific environments to grow, but inside the towers it is possible to use several rituals and the tower's own energy to simulate these environments and other strange biomes found in the Shadowlands to cultivate many resources.

Another advantage I discovered is that only inside the Towers is it possible to cultivate food in Asshai and normally the food is for the tower's own use. However, most prefer to cultivate special plants because they have a better price and they can only buy food with the highest profit. I believed in self-sufficiency, depending on others for something as vital as food was not ideal, so I decided to transform the entire small tower of the Faceless Men into a cultivation area that would provide many items for my store and always keep all the members of the Order and my employees fed. The last two classes of the day were "Humanoid Anatomy and Biology", and then "Basic Alchemy". Both classes almost made me think I was a child again because they were so basic. I would definitely avoid these two until they became more advanced. However, these classes were necessary for the newbies, as in less than two days the magical professions classes would take place.

The fourth day was the most peaceful, we didn't have a meeting, feeding the manticores was easy, and the classes were good too. The "Body Refinement" class was very interesting, I had obtained a book from Zhang with this refinement method, but I hadn't tried the technique yet because it took a long time. Body refinement was basically a masochistic method, where you would immerse yourself from head to toe in a liquid that was harmful to the body, the body after being immersed in the liquid would suffer a lot of poisoning and various types of elemental damage while special potions inside the liquid accelerated the body's healing rate, repeating the destruction and reconstruction of the body for long hours to strengthen itself. Of course, someone without the body affinity wouldn't get very far with these methods, but for many it was still worth any small increase when it came to getting stronger.

After refining we had a class on "Anatomy and biology of beasts". This class was very interesting, the teacher recommended many books for those who couldn't make the class and I wrote them all down. Each creature was different from the other, so the only valuable thing about this class was to confirm that there were some similarities between the creatures of the earth and those of this world, but they still had many peculiarities.

And finally, to end the day, the last class was Martial Arts. Each student chose their weapon and went to train with the instructors. This time, there were not only older apprentices teaching the class, but a large group of guest instructors came, in addition to Jack and two other new students who were also teaching. I joined the sword group because I wanted to improve more, I didn't like the draw I had recently, I needed to rely more on my sword and less on the pistols that would start to become useless as time went by. And so the fourth day ended, but the fifth day was marked by great events. And I wouldn't find out about them until the afternoon, because at that moment while my colleague was cleaning the manticore feces we finally found a manticore flower...
