As Nora made a break for the door, Marcus's eyes widened in surprise. He lunged after her, but Nora was too quick. She sprinted across the room, her heart pounding in her chest.
She reached the door and flung it open, revealing a narrow corridor beyond. Nora didn't hesitate, dashing down the corridor as fast as she could.
She could hear Marcus's footsteps behind her, echoing off the walls. Nora knew she had to keep moving, or risk being caught.
As she ran, the corridor began to twist and turn, leading Nora deeper into the heart of the building. She stumbled, her foot catching on a loose stone, but she quickly regained her balance.
Suddenly, the corridor opened up into a large, dimly lit chamber. Nora skidded to a stop, her eyes scanning the room in confusion.
And then, she saw it. A figure, standing in the shadows at the far end of the room. Nora's heart skipped a beat as she realized who it was.
