Chapter 1 - "I've had enough."

Amy's POV:

It's 19:00, an hour after closing time, I practically live here at this point. I smile at the thought of my mom lecturing me to not overwork myself or I might start hallucinating from repeatedly starving myself in her words. Ironically enough she always takes the opportunity to attempt to persuading me to marry and have kids everytime I visit her, which technically means more work.

"What's for dinner tonight? Mama wants some Chinese." I think loudly to myself, I'm taking a cheat day. I am sick and tired of Nessa's 30-Day Veggie&Fruit cleanse, that girl is always trying something new. I seriously need to hide those ' Healthy living' books before they turn my friend into a "Go-green" guru. I reach for the elevator button. I walk in like a zombie, undoing my heels as I bend over, my head facing the elevator.

"Greetings, Ms. Farley. I see you've done your roots."

An awfully too familiar voice says making me jolt up in annoyance. Facing him, he seems untidy which is uncharacteristic of him...Is it odd that I find him attractive now? Something about his unusually tidy hair being messy kind of has me gobsmacked and I don't hate it.

"I see you've had a rough night, Mr. Shirls." I let out dryly. "I can't relate." I add, removing my gaze from him as he enters the elevator, I continue to untie my other heel.

"You might wanna reconsider on that comment, besides, I meant what I said. Genuinely." He replies still standing at the entrance.

I look up and turn to face myself in the mirror. My hair was messier. I had unfastened the first two buttons of my dress shirt. "Apologies, for my inappropriate attire." I say in a slight tone of coldness. I've always had some unspoken beef with Aaron, his arrogance and sarcasm always laced my good days in the office with sour moments. I'm still not going to button the shirt up, It's been a long day.

"Hmm." He responds dryly.

I've had enough! I am hungry, tired and annoyed. "Do I sense YOUR FUCKING DISAPPROVAL?! Cause you think you're sooo better than me! Well, let me let you in on a little secret. WEARING YOUR ASS AS A HAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU THE SHIT! It makes you closer to it, you IMPERIOUS PRIDEFUL TARP!" I let my 3 years of built up annoyance all out, and I don't regret a single word. I looked him dead in the eyes waiting for a reaction.
