'I should eat something before going to sleep for a few hours,' Nero thought as he walked into the tavern.
The tavern was dimly lit with warm pale yellow light, its atmosphere thick with the stench of stale ale and the low hum of drunken chatter.
Nero stepped inside, his eyes scanning the owner behind the counter, but he found no one, and with a quick look around, he saw a rowdy group of four men who were drunk beyond reason.
They were deep in conversation, their words growing louder as a topic of interest was brought out.
"Did you hear about the massacre of the criminal hideout?" One slowed, gurgly voice slurred, his words making the other three shift their attention to him.
"What massacre?" Another asked, narrowing his eyes in curiosity.
"Oh, boy, you are in for a treat." The first man straightened up with exaggerated enthusiasm.
