Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

"You ready?"Em asked.

"I guess?" Vee said and shrugged her shoulders.

"We are in the same class, so things are going to be pretty easy." Em said to reassure her. The first thing she noticed was the big school sign board with Crestmont High boldly written all over it.

Em held Vee's hand and let her into the school's hallway. The hallway was packed with students, which was normal for the first day of school after the long summer vacation.

" I'm going to get a few things from my locker before we head to the principal's office. Is that okay?" Em said.

"Alright."She said and nodded her head. Em headed to her locker and grabbed the books she'd be needing for the day. She led Vee to the principal's office so she could pick up her time table and list of things she'd be needing.

Em knocked on the door to the principal's office.

"Come in." A husky male voice said on the other side of the door.

Em opened the door and stepped in.

"Good morning Principal Thompson." Em said as they entered the office.

The man in the office seemed like he was in his mid-forties,he had a dark brown hair, flecked with hints of distinguished gray, was impeccably styled, framing a face that seemed chiseled from the granite of authority. He had this deep ocean blue eyes that complimented his facial features.

"Good morning to my favorite junior." Principal Thompson said and flashed a smile at Em.

"Oh please, you say that to everyone." Em joked and Principal Thompson chuckled.

"This is Violet Hayes, the new student." Em said.

"You're Claire's daughter. Right?" He asked Vee directly.

"How do you know my mum?" Vee asked. She was surprised the man knew her mother.

"We went to high school together." He replied.

"They all went to school together." Em told her.

"Your mum already emailed your past report sheets and all other documents, you just need to select your electives and I'll fix your schedule and you'll be ready to go." He told her before handing her a sheet of paper with the required electives. Vee selected them carefully and handed the paper back to him when she was done. He fixed her schedule quickly and handed it to her.

"Emma, please you need assist her in finding the appropriate classrooms. Here's your locker number and key. Welcome to Crestmont High." He said.

"Thank you sir." Vee said and flashed a beautiful smile at him before stepping out of the office.

"Let's go find your locker." Em said and they found it easily.

Vee was trying the key when a basketball hit her out of nowhere.

"What the hell." She exclaimed and turned her head to see who threw the ball at her.

"Hey, didn't see you there." The boy who threw the ball said. "Throw it back." he added.

Vee looked around to ensure he was talking to her. She pointed a finger at herself to be sure.

"Yes, I'm talking to you. Are you mute?" he asked rudely.

"Aren't you supposed to apologize first?" she questioned. Em placed her hand on Vee's arm

"Just let it slide." Em whispered to her.

"Just throw the ball and stop asking dumb questions."He said.

"Sure." Vee said and picked up the basketball and placed it in her locker and shut the door.

This made the boy smirk and he started approaching her, Em flinched when he got too close to where they both stood but Vee didn't.

"Look I really don't have the time to chat with you. If this is your way of trying to get my attention, here's my phone put your number in it. So you can brag to your friends that Drew hit on you . I'll text you." He said to her. Vee chuckled.

"It must be exhausting that you think you're always going to be the main character in everyone's story, not in mine though but don't worry half the time you think everyone is staring at you because of your looks, they are really looking at the reflection of pathetic carved on your forehead." She said to him without blinking. Almost everyone standing in the hallway laughed. He was embarrassed and people were starting to gather in the hallway .

"Just hand the ball over."He said to her.

"Not until you apologize." she replied and brought the ball out of her locker."

He clenched his jaw and nodded his head calmly. "Fine. I'm sorry." he said in a low tone.

"I don't think I heard you." Vee teased.

"I'm sorry." He yelled. "Is that good enough for you?" he added.

"Good boy." she said. She gave him the ball, flipped her hair in his face before grabbing Em's hand and walking away.

"I heard you got scared by a girl today." Alan said to drew as they were heading to the cafeteria for lunch.

"Shut up." Drew said. His friends would never let him hear the end of it.

Some stupid person recorded the entire thing and uploaded it on the student's group chat and now if not everyone ,almost every student had seen it.

They entered the cafeteria and almost everyone looked at Drew and began to whisper.

"I still can't believe it actually happened." Mike whispered to Alan.

"Do you know anything about her?" Alan asked Drew.

"Nope. I've never even seen her until today." He replied.

"Whoa, so she might even be a freshman?" Alan asked.

"Yeah." Drew replied and sighed. This had to be the most humiliating thing he had experienced. They got their lunch and sat at their regular table. They were eating quietly until Drew noticed her coming into the cafeteria. He could never forget what she looked like.

"That's her." He said to his friends and gestured with his head.

"Isn't that Sophie's sister with her?" Mike asked. Sophie was Drew's older sister's best friend.

"I don't even recognize her if she isn't with her sister." Drew replied.

"What year is Sophie's sister?" Alan asked.

"Why? You're into weirdos now?" Mike joked.

"No, if we know what year she's in, then it's easier to know what year her friend is in." Alan replied.

" Sophie graduated when we became juniors, which was last year and she was a sophomore then, so she should be a junior." Drew stated.

Which meant she was also a junior.

Drew glared at her, as if she could feel someone's eyes on her. She looked up from her meal and found Drew glaring at her, she smirked and glared back, she didn't even blink or look away, it was Drew who broke the glaring contest.

He wasn't going to let it slide.
